Amtrak F59PHI’s on the Surfline in Dec 2008 

With the F59PHI engine being virtually extinct on the Surfline these days, I decided to take a look back 11 years ago when it dominated these rails. They all still had mechanical bells and most of the horns were significantly better! I included a lot of shots at the downtown San Diego crossings when they used to be horn friendly, as well as a few shots of my old favorite AMTK 462 which had a prime horn (even when quilled)! The AMTK 455 unit with the Operation Lifesaver wrap is seen a few times too!
