*Which station on the Sunset Limited route would you most like to stop at?* Amtrak Empire Builder all 46 stops: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sPl3_zVwvuE.html
@@DoubleOld7 I am from England and love San Antonio. The River Walk is Magical . Travelling Amtrak in a Roomette is my idea of Heaven, I have now covered most of USA , now by train , when I was young by bus.
Sunset Limited is an underrated route without a doubt. Fingers Crossed that Amtrak restores the full length of the route, from what I understand real progress has been made in recent years
Thanks for that Jesse. I am English but every year I fly to US to travel on Amtrak and the Sunset is on my list. . I know NO and LA well but not much between the two. Did you stop at San Antonio ? I loved the River Walk.
I greatly enjoy the in depth detailed route tours you do with the SSL, CSL, EPB, and California rail routes. It convinced me and my family to visit places you mentioned along the way. Can t wait for additional routes reviews.
really liked this. Thinking of getting an Amtrak pass which allows you to hop off and on. Nice to see which cities would be fun to explore. I hope you do more of these.
I have a book called USA by Rail by John Pitt that gives snippets of background on each stop on all of Amtrak's routes. Very informative and gives you hints of things to watch for on your journey.
Very nice video, lots of info! I've been reluctant to take the Sunset Limited out to the West Coast because people posting or commenting on videos about it said the route was boring; I may have to change my mind now. I've ridden the Texas Eagle down from Chicago to San Antonio and the Sunset Limited back east to New Orleans. Due to an accident involving our train, on top of mechanical trouble that had delayed its arrival at San Antonio, we were several hours late and went through much of the bayou country in morning twilight, which was very cool, and crossed the Huey P. Long Bridge in daylight, also cool. Thanks for posting!
I love this video. As someone who has been to more then half of these stops, and going to many more, this is a wonderful video. You, and your videos are loved from Arizona T1D Wanderer!
That's a lot of research you did and some very useful info... good job! I can catch the Southern Crescent to overnite in New Orleans (I'm sure I can find "something" to do) and I've always wanted to do the full trip out West. I'll book a roomette like you did on the Empire Builder. That will be a good trip after I retire and have my Covid vaccinations.
Thanks Rick! Glad you liked the research. Yeah I'm sure you'll be able to find something happening in NO ;) A roomette on Sunset Limited sounds great doesn't it.
very very informative video. I like all the history that was documented to each station!!! Wish there were more trivia routes like this one. I hope someday to travel at least 1 way on the Sunset.
I absolutely loved your video and share it with all of my friends. I am planning on purchasing the new rail pass for $499.00 and doing a 30 trip - 10 segment trip. This really helped. I found one more detailed video from you- Amtrak Empire Builder info about every single stop. Do you have any other detailed train route videos. I would love to watch them if you have any links. Thanks so much for making these two videos.
Thanks Yvonne, glad you found them helpful. I do plan on other videos for the other routes -- looking to have free time around August or September for that!
For $15 one way, I went from Houston to Beaumont on a coach car that was EMPTY. It was so much fun for me. I went to sight see and of course get up close to Amtrak locomotives at the station.
@@rubynelson1164 unfortunately not that time. I will plan on a trip soon once I return to Houston. I know Beaumont has several historic buildings and locations I'd like to see!
On that route, I wouldn't mind visiting Palm Springs, Yuma, Tucson, San Antonio, Houston, Lake Charles and New Orleans. I've been to Los Angeles before. I would also think about stopping in El Paso. Thank you for sharing this vidéo.
As of now they are planning to get it out to atleast mobile but it won’t be run by the sunset limited. It’ll be a couple runs per day done by commuters or day cab lines with prob business class
@@T1DWanderer hope the planned commuter between Phoenix and Tucson comes soon. I’d rather ride to the long haulers than use a car and deal with traffic here
I LOVE AMTRAK BUT NOW THEY HAVE PRICE ME OUT OF RIDING. WISH AMTRAK WOULD HAVE A TRAIN TRIP WHERE YOU PICK 3-4 STATION, AT A PRICE WE WHO ARE RETIRED COULD RIDE IT. MY DREAM
Have you checked into a rail pass? 30 days, up to 10 stops for 1 price in coach. Currently $499. My mom and I are planning a cross country trip this way for late September.
I am English and we don't usually tip as people here get well paid , but in the USA I tip $10 a night in hotel and Amtrak and on meals just double the sales tax .
Oh how I would love to be able to enter the USA. I'm just a 10 minute walk from the border ... but ... Covid19 ... means no shipping valuable care pkgs to diabetics I've been helping all these years, but with a trip like this, I could hand out much needed supplies at every stop along the way. Ohhhh dreaming away of having the ability to leave my section of Canada while following stay at home orders while the 3rd wave creeps up on us. Now back to dreaming about the other warmer Ontario (I live in the Canadian version of this name).
Ha, a lot of boring and trivial nonsense on this route. One thing you didn't mention: Sunset Magazine was started by the Southern Pacific RR and was named after this route. I hope the train eventually makes its way back to FL but as of now, they are struggling just to extend it (or local trains) to Mobile. "Houston has everything you could want!" Except a historical downtown. There's really no city center. I don't like it. Anyway, thanks.
