I've caught the train a number of times & I would say these are definitely great tips. I'm a budget trip type of girl so I'm perfectly fine with coach but I'm looking into the roomette for at least one of my next trips.

Thank you and agreed! I always took Coach before this trip but I would definitely recommend the roomette if you're doing a longer trip.

Omg, thank you. You have calmed a lot of my fears. I'm doing 43 hrs on the Southwest Chief in April. I too am going from Chicago to L.A., then going to San Diego for a few days. I was so nervous about booking it, but its what I wanted to do. I'm so glad that you showed yourself lounging in the bed, because I was wondering if the seats reclined. I am such an introvert and am very guarded about people I talk to, more or less sharing my plans with strangers. I will download movies, bring a book, and sleep meds, because I'm a light sleeper. I can't believe that your video just popped up. I haven't told anyone except for a sister. Thank you so much. This video was definitely a GOD send. I'll be watching your channel. Oh yes, I got the roommette as well. And I'm doing this trip solo

Amazing tips! I am a solo traveler and I often travel by train, one thing that I really like to bring with me is the bento bag I bought from Nomad Lane. It changed my travel experience.

F y I. I'm a huge movie guy.. But only watched maybe two movies on the whole trip with my daughter each time. Thought I'd watch four or five. Between eating three meals a day with others, Looking out the window, Talking with others in sleeper cars.. Getting out at least half the stops for a few minutes fresh air et cetera. It's pretty amazing how time goes by.

If you’re a Libra, you’re my soul sister! I LOVE to solo travel on planes, trains, and ships and try to encourage others to do the same. Train travel is my favorite, but I’ve never booked the roomette. I’ll be traveling 1,600 miles this fall and my first time in a roomette. Thanks for the tips on riding in the private room. Now I have to see how you pack!

I'm going solo on a 35 hour Texas Eagle journey this Thanksgiving! I am a 20 year old female and have never done this before and I'm so excited! I'm visiting my long distance boyfriend who lives 1,200 miles away and I'm taking the train this time because I have plane flight anxiety😅 So I wanted to try a new experience, can't wait!

I went on a cross country Amtrak trip, but not in one go. I took a 19 hour NY to Chicago, overnight on coach, stayed in Chicago for two days, then the next leg of the trip. There's no way I could do a full 50 hours on a train.

My girls and I enjoy the food quite a bit.. Definitely above average, And definitely a great experience, meeting other people Even if you're kind of a loner or introvert. Kind of neat.

I’m taking this train for the frist time in April, is there any way to find out what are the best times to go to the view cart? To plan a head before seats fill up

It depends on the route! But for the California Zephyr (going west to east - so the Chicago to California route) definitely get a spot right before the Denver stop for the Rocky Mountains. And also when they announce the Nevada stop right before the Sierra Nevada Mountains

Lol. Ah, no. Except, It's empty at night. It is crazy packed with people spread out a lot, And for long periods of time despite them asking people to not be in there too long. So we always enjoy our roommate.. Because of a big picture windows. You never know though.. But we find the "bubble" car being packed an awful lot.

Not a good video, nothing to see, just someone talking; not interesting at all. Why was there a 7 hour delay? You should have been compensated or something. Get a little involved in your video.
