Riders at Six Flags Mexico were pelted with rain and wind as they were stuck dangling above the park as a storm rolled through and temporarily halted several rides. They were stuck in the air for 10 minutes before being safely let off the ride.

Yea I remember this girl telling me that she got stuck upside down on the batman ride for 15 minutes at six flags. I think they gave her a season pass with free food as compensation. This was probably 1999ish

Uncomfortable minutes huh. I have been stuck upside down on a Ring of Fire ride for 20 minutes. Had to hold myself and my daughter in place so we didn't fall through and DIE. IT WAS SO FREAKING FRIGHTENING I HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A RIDE SINCE.

Ikr? Anyone who's ever ridden a jet-ski in a rainstorm knows how fast rain can get painful but at least with a jet-ski you can slow down. Those poor bastards down there are getting their faces pressure washed and there ain't $hit-all they can do about it! 😂

I once got on such a carousel when the amusement park was very deserted. Without knowing it, the seats went up 150 feet. In addition, the whole thing was only attached to a small hook. I was only secured with a wobbly bar on my stomach. That was one hell of a ride. But hanging up there in a storm is an absolute nightmare.😅

they have seat belts, and the crossbars have anti submarine straps. they would have to take of their seat belts to fall out intentionally, and would need to remove the antisubmarine straps to fall out accidentally. the only way to leave the seat with the straps installed is to turn your major leg bones to jello so you can slide upwards

Six Flags New England has this and it’s 400 feet, Icon Park in Orlando Florida has one that is 450 feet tall and is the worlds tallest swing ride. I have ridden them both. You have a locking seatbelt and a bar that comes down and locks between your legs, for most people it would be hard to “fall out”.

250 ft. On a swing ride would be terrifying for even 5 minutes. 10 minutes doesn’t sound long until you’re the one up that high during a storm just wondering what is going on. It’s like a 1-2% chance of surviving a 250 ft. Drop onto concrete.

I'd assume the only reason they didn't lower the riders is because the ride has a full cycle it has to run before it comes back down, and the only thing the employees could do was stop the ride mid cycle but couldn't do anything else except resume the ride.

It's better than if the ride was running. Never ride the Yo-Yo in the rain. The droplets hit your face at a high rate of speed. I found this out the hard way. It seemed like it would be fun. It was not.

That’s what I’m wondering, at least the parks I go to they consistently check the weather and have things to monitor lighting. Seems like as soon as the storm started they would have hit some emergency button and brought the ride back down. I was stuck on a ride a couple weeks ago for about 20 minutes and they can manually run those rides, that’s how we got back off was the maintenance crew manually doing it

I was raised in San Diego been to Mexico literally hundreds of times from Baja to Sonora to Sinaloa to the Yucatan. Drove most of the Baja Pennisula between TJ and Cabo. Safely sometimes seems an after thought at parks States side, it can't possibly be any worse in Mexico. That being said, those chains are awful thin.

They're not aluminum. They're chrome plated steel. I will say that they do look a bit anemic though. They need to beef them up a bit.

@K.RU-vid2 There should be an emergency button that brings the ride back down without it spinning. Seems like a drastic safety oversight not to have that. It would NOT be safe to be caught up there in strong winds!

My husband my sister and I were stuck on the joker in Jackson NJ SIX FLAGS a few years back. The ride got to the top right before it starts to dangle and go backwards. We were terrified and many people were screaming and panicking because we were waiting over 30 mins to get down. This SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. PERIOD. ONE WOMAN WAS HAVING A PANIC ATTACK AND ACTUALLY STARTED TO TRY AND WIGGLE OUT OF THE SEAT IN THE AIR WHILE IT WAS SUSPENDED 300 FEET UP. THIS TURNED INTO A MEDICAL EVENT / CARDIAC ISSUE. IT GOT SO BAD THEY WERE SAYING WE MAY NEED A CRANE AND HAVE TO CLIMB AND WALK DOWN. THEY OFFERED US ONE FREE PASS TO GET TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE ON ANY RIDE. IT WASNT WORTH IT. WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN FULL REFUNDS! WE RISKED OUR LIVES!

Thats a little too high for simple seats with no safety around them. Old fashioned swings were bad enough and not safe but they didnt go half a high rise high.

All of you claiming that you would have an anxiety attack, probably do the blood curdling screaming during intense situations out of your control. I appreciate you guys, it ALWAYS makes the situation better and makes everyone around you feel calm and at ease.
