The ice stays there. It is sprayed in but they put black rubber squares on top of the ice and it's Abe to stay frozen throughout the whole thing. What you saw at first was them taking the rubber pads off of the ice
DrewieStewie the whole purpose of the insulation is that it keeps the cold in and the heat out, so no, there would be no perceptible temperature difference.
It's ice. They weren't laying it down, they were removing the pads that protect it. When they convert the arena for basketball or a concert, they put the pads back over it.

David Dilaura Watch closely. they're not laying down ice, they're uncovering it. They have these tiles they lay down to protect the ice when it's being used as a basketball court or a stage show. They only redo the ice once a season. Coincidentally when they do the ice for the year, they start with several layers of ice on concrete, they they paint it with water soluble paint. Then at the end of the year they melt the ice and the paint just drains away with the water. That way they don't have to scrape up paint every year.
I don't know much about. NBA arenas, but I thought this would be in Oklahoma City, knowing that AMWAY is an Oklahoma-based company. I was obviously wrong!
