I think it's incredible when you listen to someone like Amy Winehouse and you think you've heard all of her songs before, but then a song comes on through shuffle that you haven't heard before and you get to listen to her voice for that first time again and it just knocks you off your feet with a soul warming wave of emotion. Amy's voice is something to behold and I will never tire of it. What an absolutely stunning cover of this song.
100%, she's an artist you don't want to listen to all her songs right away so you can "find" her songs years later in life especially because she's gone.
Cameron, i so totally agree with you. Her voice on this, is to "die for" absolutely STUNNING!!! I've got the chills and could cry, at the same time... Its such an incredible waste of 1 of the greatest talents, we in our time, will know...
Not so 4me! The atmosphere changed when this Amazing Saxophonist intercepted, and created his sounds! I feel Amy abused her God given Gift! Therefore, I allow myself to greatly appreciate and hear, for the 1st time, I might add... the Artwork of this - Saxophonist, a very fine Musician. Thank you. 🎼 🎷 💙
@@robertatuck1533 I understand the way you feel, even if I don’t agree. I have suffered from similar problems to Amy but, luckily, I’m still here to tell the tale. Maybe this is the reason I hear something in her voice that is pleading for someone to help, anyone at all. The poor lass was so gifted, a true genius yet she was beset with undiagnosed with mental health problems that painted her in a bad light, so far from what she really was. Talent like Amy’s comes along once in a lifetime but even if she lost all her gifts to remain here, I believe she would have been ok with that.
@@davidrobinson2776 I don't think I agree with your last line. I believe the fact that she lost or was losing her talent, i.e., the vocal control and all the marvellous things she could do with her voice, was parly the reason why she ended up the way she did. Even in the last days she watched videos of herself singing on RU-vid and reminiscing about her amazing talent. I'm not saying she lost it completely but due to her excessive drinking over her divorce her voice got ruined in many ways. And the thing, music, that she once said really made her feel "at peace", made her feel insecure and incompetent. (Just my opinion).
I can’t believe it’s 10 years! This is by far the most outstanding performance I have ever seen of Amy. I have watched it soooo many times. So much talent ❤️. So missed.
Thats actually quite a nice thing to do,I would never dream up something as simple, and sweet. Some of us tend to over analyse, thus complicate,I'm trying to teach myself to be better at distilling thought's,and transferring from mind to word/deed. Nice sentiment sir.
Good time I'm under the other girl you are not home and the other girl you don't even have to run to know where you are not talkative and the other girl you are not home and let her eat me
Paul Weller starts off carefully, then it's Amy's turn and after her verse, everyone is completely inspired. That was her talent. Such a bloody shame she is gone. No one like her.
When they talk about what a loss to the world when someone dies...never truer than with Amy..it's a real bummer when this kind of artist goes...check out her performance with Tommy Bennet on body and soul..I can't even bear to listen to it it's so good.
I think he played a role here, he knew Amy was the star and she could be complimented by a rock solid performance by him, he didn't try and compete, his ego wasn't in evidence trying to out do her.
Wow what a singer Amy was what a waste of a lovely girl just bad company can kill you and that is what happened to Amy I don't think anyone can sing like her rest in peace my little pet
@@jeffwaterworth8644 EXACTLY. Some just don't get it. Weller isn't the greatest of singers and knows his limits so why the Hell would he try and compete? Has no need as a legend and great songwriter (with his back catalogue) he knows Amy's the vehicle and supports her like any musician would/should.
she was in her element, i get angry thinking she is gone even now....such a waste, more prevelant to me now as my younger brother just passed in similar circumstances....
I agree. Her skin looks fab and she's the right side of thin. I think she always performed better singing with others. Brought out her competitive streak.
2 things. 1.) That saxophone really turned her on. and 2.) When she brought recognition to Paul Weller at the end he looked at her like "for real bruh" knowing damn well everyone forgot about him the minute she started to sing lol
This was a very special performance. Everyone was faultless. But Amy stood out as the shining talent. She made her mark in our time as one of the best. Sax solo was outstanding too.
Never seen Paul Weller look so happy - big fan but never seen him smile like that! That was epic from all of them - she was beautiful in her soul to sing like that.
I was thinking that. Followed Weller’s career since I was 14 - I’m now 58 - and I have never, ever seen him smile like that. She had one of those rare talents that really made you feel her voice came from somewhere else. Enough tomake you believe in the divine. Sorely missed.
Love that smile that Weller breaks out into halfway through. I recognise that. I’ve been in bands all my life. That’s him recognising he’s making magic and is in the presence of true greatness. Arguably the most emotive female singer of all time. Period. Medicine for the soul. ❤️AW
That lady would have been the greatest songstress of all time. I admit to shedding tears for her beautiful soul. Mesmerising how effortless it seemed for her to produce magic like that.
Samuel Xavier she was an amazing talent but IMHO Nina Simone is the greatest female singer that ever lived... But if she had lived a long life she could possibly have become the greatest... Such a sad loss to the music world...
Amy was probably the greatest vocalist of this era. She was definitely, in the same league as Vaughn and Holiday. No doubt, and just as talented! These women knew how to work their instruments. She was one of the best jazz vocalists of all time. Amazing, amazing. Fantastic arrangement! That sax, Jools, etc. will never tire of watching this flawless performance. Maybe KD Lang would be the 2nd greatest of this era. KD is almost as good as Ella. They don't get better than that. silk!
There are millions of talented singers on earth but the devil has you trapped in false idolatry for a few Egyptian icons he gave you such that you devalue your fellow man you meet every day on your city streets. Lucifer has weakened the nations not strengthened them. What would a world under His commandments look like? Everyone can be a winner that’s the truth! John 3:16.
Christ. I don't think I'd listened to Amy Winehouse in over a year and then I randomly came across this and am reduced to tears. She was so fucking good.
This video brought me some consolation lost my BEST Friend just weeks ago. One of shared PASSIONS Was MUSIC Amy Winehouse one of Many Concerts we shared. Paul Weller ty for creating this & Sharing for all your many FANS. I Believe Bobby is watching and Smiling as I watch it over & over again for us BOTH. Stay SAFE all BE BLESSED 🙏
Yes to those goosebumps! My eyes get teary hearing this song from the whole ensemble. It's getting to be a habit. Amy and Paul really brought this one home. It is heaven.
dont know how many times i view this .... her vocal is a masterclass on how to deliver a song... her control and pitch and tone is just stunning ..not to mention her vibrato is incredible .... just wow...gets better and better every single time i listen.....!
Her stage presence and body movements accelerate the emotional gift because a song is delivered not just with the voice but the whole body is an instrument. The song delivery gives a melodic plea to love. Charming performance duo.
The musician's singer. See her give props to the saxophonist? See Paul Weller swoon on a note? Respect. You were the Ella and Billie of our era, Amy. You are missed but not forgotten...as long as I've a record player and RU-vid.
Amy really was one of the best. Unfortunately, we probably won't get another like her in our lifetime. A voice like hers is one in a century. Best vocalist in our time so far...
Thank you for all the kind words regarding this post , Amy will be forever remembered for her music and her family and friends who believed in her ..she was 22 years old when she done this amazing performance ..Mitch and Janice were there also .. it was a truly amazing performance and she is sadly missed
Amy, a truly fabulous artist with great support from Paul, Jools and that fabulous saxaphone player who deserves a public credit for his contribution to a classic. I come back to this magic over and over.
Amy was such a genuine sweetheart. Anytime she performed a duet with anyone she always gave it her all out best despite any struggles she may have been going through at the time. She didn’t always treat herself so well in her own shows. I don’t think she really knew how great she was.
Her exquisite talent, so massive it couldn't be contained. The world was rationed her brilliance for a limited time but it burned so bright, people will be stunned forever. Jools is an absolute British legend too.
Just revisiting this stunningly beautiful corner of the internet. Amy's 'play with fire' @ 0.40 will never grow old. Nor will the expressions at that moment on the faces of both Paul and Jools who knew they were in the presence and part of something so exceptionally profound. I will never stop missing her.
i'm not a huge fan of this genre of music, but this 53 year old man tears up every time i see an amy video. so talented. so beautiful. and so tragic. damn she was good.
She really, really seemed like a good person, at the end of the day this surpasses the music as the only factor for admiration. To see her playing with Weller is satisfying for me because I always thought of Amy as a Mod at heart. Her Fred Perry line of clothes is beautiful and a great alternative for women fashion, smart yet carefree. Like Amy.
Yes amazing me and husband danced to this in our living room ew yer sadly lost 5yers ago 2 a brain tumour 52 years old to young 3 kids one so 2 daughters i died on my daughters birthday 29th October we are so glad he was in our lives x
This is a friggin masterpiece.. The power, the pain, the effortless in Amy’s voice hits me in the heart and throat every time. EASILY her greatest performance! You can really tell how honoured she is to be performing alongside two legends in her eyes. I just love how they gave her to centre stage!! Always so humble, praising everyone else when she rightfully should be taking space as queen of the stage! Love and miss Amy you changed my life and saved my soul from drugs and alcohol 😍
@@631353 I mean her talent is undeniable and her work and legacy heard and praised trough out the whole world… She is at the very least comparable to them
Wow never heard this before it’s just beautiful Paul Weller’s voice is just amazing And Amy’s is God given This is master class She was up there with Billy Holiday & any other great singer past or present You could not get better than this The soulfulness in her was just sensational
Everything about the performance was on point. Jaw droppingly great. Amy Winehouse's vocals and timing, Paul Weller's relaxed brilliance, that sax solo and the whole sound on the big band - shades of Nelson Riddle on Sinatra. I'll shut up now but honestly - utterly top drawer start to finish.
Totally agree. Amy was a class act. FS was her favourite singer, her debut album was named after him. Speaking of Frankie/Nelson, check out "Seattle "57". It is the only onstage recording of them available. In stereo too! It wipes the floor with "Live At The Sands".

recently i've been learning more about the intense darkness, real that is the music industry. and i'm starting to understand more and more about why so many stars(hollywood included) fall apart the way they do... drugs/alcohol, eating disorders, as well as just overall health failure just to name a few. if you are not following me at all, i really suggest you do a bit of research into what can only be called the evil reality of the entertainment buisness. my whole point in bringing all this up is you can see the effects more on amy than any other star , in my opinion. looking back at her first 2 years , before her international fame(mostly speaking of usa fame) she was sooo beautiful, healthy and seemed to enjoy all of it but soon after you see how much she changes and is desperetly attempting to cope with what her lefe has become. it is sooo sad because thru it all she is still so talented and literally puts her soul into her music. she played multiple intruments, wrote music, sang and i think she is really in a different leauge then anyone. and finally, she seems to be a good person, humble , funny , kind etc. sorry to rant but everytime i see her i feel sad and angry at what she became. truly some evil energy at work in the music buisness. rip amy. everytime i listen to her music i try to send some of my appriciation/love her way, wherever her soul is today!
The mood in the room changed, everyone looked, all listened intently when Amy took over. Everyone knew this was a star and Paul knew it. RIP Amy, the World misses you, you were loved and our applause follows you wherever you are!
