Been a Weller ‘Jam’ Fan since the late 70’s when I could work 12 hour shifts and party for the other 12 😆 Now at 60 I can still work 12 hours, but need 10 hours sleep, what’s not changed is the feeling I get when i hear this music, soul stirring for me 👌🏻😎
Yeah god I remember working 12 hr shifts 5 days a week partly for the other 2 days now I need 5 days to recover from 1 night on the beer, classic tunes.
1 of the grestest tunes weller ever wrote, and thats saying something, on the strength of the mans body of work. The jam greatest ever band. And oasis were the dogs bollocks as well. This is 2 legends in perfect harmony.
Listened to this for the first time with my older brother as kids when he had it as a Christmas present. Years later, i listened to it as his funeral song when he died of cancer in 2013 age 50. Without doubt...an iconic, amazing song
Anybody who lived on a faceless grim council estate in the late 70s early 80s know s exactly what message this song brings.Genius lyrics which sum up life in a song.
very true never forget where your from..these 2 havnt..on a side line my old fella was on the same undercard as wellers dad..1950 [germany[ dad was a light welter for the welsh guards..wellers old man the same royal artillery..i have his programme..also billy gasgoine [coldstream guards[paul gasgoines uncle..newcastle
*_"grim council estate"_* It doesn't matter where you're from or how rich your parents. The music of your youth is one of the most important things in your life. {:o:O:}
Move here , you are welcome so much more than the middle Eastern bstrds that come here. You are the type of human being that would be Welcome here in the UK.
Love you GREAT BRITAIN for two of the finest gentlemen who picked up a guitar!! I speak for all Americans who know greatness. Thank you for mr Weller n noel
@@paulgreen758 is your flat that smells. a little like Mr Wellers cigerette and or Noels perfume. I like the pairing a great deal right, let me introduce you too mr. oh heck am i sitting there or did you just steal my chair;
@@michaelgwyndavies2827 I didn't say I saw them as I didn't, im only commenting on what I saw in the video, but ive seen the Jam many times but I never had a seat just stood and groved to the music
Leave it out. Noel said himself that most of songs were nonsense. He also said he’d give up everything to have written the sex pistols one and only album
This is fucking brilliant. So British! It shows how good we can be at music. Two of the coolest most talented musicians in the world loving entertaining the crowd even if it is a quiet song
The way he walks on stage with such respect and delicacy, as if he's walking on eggshells, about to meet the Queen, shows how much respect even the boisterous mastermind behind Oasis has for his idol, Mr Weller, beautiful.
@@sonny1987100Just silly aren’t you. Both are great and if you want go into ripping people off read paulo Hewitt book on Paul equally as culpable as Noel for stealing stuff
I first heard this song in 1980 when it came out. It brought me to tears because it fully captured growing up in the 1970s. It still moves me. Quite perfect in every way...and Noel does a nice job on harmony too!
My mum, dad and sister all spent their 20's in England (being born there). I was born there but moved back to the U.S. once I was almost 17. This song makes me wish I'd have spent my 'prime' in England. All of the 'rough,' all of the 'nights out,' all of the 'society.' Now 'all gone' from my life.
+Dario DeNiro was you abused by your dad?? Grandpa??? Bet u were, u can talk to me I am a good listener. Remember if your going to come at me...then be prepared because I will own you
Sadly outside of the UK Weller and The Jam are not well known. I was an Alternative DJ in the US so he was huge in my circle. In the UK this song has a rare place in the hearts of a certain generation of British youth, now middle-aged or pensioners. I can say, with joy, that I have done the 11:35 pm run to catch the last tube just as most UK youth of that era did. Weller is a legend. That's Entertainment defined that generation.
When I watch this brilliant performance of two very influential people in my life, it makes me wonder what the band would have been if they were both part of it? Any true Jam appreciator will know that Weller was at his pinnacle when in The Jam. He has done a lot of above average songs but it pales compared to the concentrated hits of The Jam. Noel has followed suit since the early days of Oasis. This is not a belly ache, it's a huge thank you for leaving permanent tattoos upon my soul.
Born same day same year as Paul Weller, Jam were an incredible band plus Style Council too. Never forget seeing them at Hammersmith odeon! Classic times!✊🥰👍
Definitely two of the best musicians and biggest icons sat on one stage performing a classic timeless tune. “That’s Entertainment “. Pure bliss. Quality 👌❤️❤️❤️
ed clark Mine 2. And The Butterfly Collector is a close 2nd. Paul Weller m8 I think that u should get a knighthood 4yr gr8 music. And the Jam r my 2nd favourite band. 2nd only 2 my all time hero's ie The Human League. Paul Weller m8 I think that u should get 2hear my drum kit inpression. 4 it's so like the real thing. And it's done by mouth alone. And sounds like the real thing. And I have done my drum kit inpression in front of Simon Cowell on Britons got talent. I didn't get through. I was ill at the time. But if I was o.k. I'll will of done my level crossing inpression 2 him and scare him. From Paul Eyles from Portsmouth
Mine 2. That's Entertainment always reminds me of a Chess match 4 Portsmouth that I have played in. And a ACE Human League gig that I have been 2.& I think that Paul Weller. Should get a knighthood 4 his gr8 music.
In life, context is everything. If you were coming-of-age in 1980 then songs like this took on a whole new meaning, a new dimension, really. I'm glad to have been alive and around to hear it. There really will never be another experience that even can remotely compare to this. I don't care how many 18-wheeler trucks the current tour may have on hand. This is real music for me. And there is no other.
Great years m8. Fred Perry, Levi's, desert boots a parka if you were lucky enough to have nice parents 😁. What a scene it was. Great music, good clothes, good friend's. Take care my friend. Dance on,,🎸🌠
