”It was in April of 2007 (I believe), and I was watching Jay Leno with my mother and getting ready to go to bed, as I did every night. Amy was announced as the musical guest, and at that point I had never heard of her. The camera panned to the stage, and I can still remember this as clear as day, I was enamored. I've always been fascinated by the 50's/60's vibe, and am something of a retro gal myself. I remember saying "I love that dress! I love those shoes! I love the hair! Oh, she has a lip ring like me!"...then came that voice. I was physically stunned. Both mine, and my mother's jaws dropped. I couldn't believe it was coming from this girl I was looking at on the stage. From that day on, I was hooked, and owning Back to Black was the first thing on my agenda when I got home from work the following evening. The rest is history :) Since her passing, I've found the video of that performance, and watched it several times. It is the one piece of footage that will never fail to warm my heart and put a smile on my face.” a member on amy’s fandom 🖤⚓️
Whenever people mention how pretty Amy was they don't mention her eyes. Is it just me or did she have some of the biggest most honest looking eyes that one could take a swim in?
Oh no not just you I see it to in fact she made me fall in love with her and her music I found myself obsessed in minutes and I'm like wtf I don't even like girls lol but Amy was amazing she was one of a kind a perfect woman. WOW!
@@joyortega8632 You don't like girls? I have to ask are you male or female? You don't have to answer of course but funny thing with Amy; I only heard the song Rehab on my car radio back maybe around 2009 and thought who is this? It sounded to me like a famous R&B singer from the past I should know and the song was so catchy I thought I should be familiar with it. I assumed it was from like the 70s and being a drummer playing in many top 40 and R&B bands I wondered why I never heard it. Then I saw somewhere some things in the news or in papers about her and my impression was she is just some skinny drug addicted wino with a hit song someone wrote for her and not a true musician. Then a couple of years ago saw the documentary Amy and was blown away. I started researching her more; blown away even more. I wish I could tell her to her face how beautiful she is inside and out and apologize to her for my initial impression shaped by the media. She writes her own songs, is truly honest, drop dead gorgeous (IMO) and can sing with soul but with jazz nuances. Amazing lyricist and of course.....those eyes!
What an absolute whirlwind of a woman she was. She was clearly never meant to get old, she left a massive hole in the music industry that still hasn’t been filled. ❤
Ella era unas d esas personas q con solo escucharla cantar sabias d kien se trataba.... era muy especial y me encantaba su forma d vertir y makillarse...
I didn't like how Leno acted towards her; almost as if he barely wanted to acknowledge her. Anyway, she did very well here! She looked very comfortable and confident. Awesome job Angel. RIP.
She was so beautiful & fascinating, loved the black eye makeup or tattoos, damn that is sexy as hell. And those big hairdos to match. Ain’t nobody ever looked this iconic, but Amy was one of a kind. What a waste for her to be gone so soon, she will forever be missed.
Garantizado brother, creo que te quedastes corto, Amy is eternal and unique, eterna y unica, se me agolpan las palabras, porque la adoro, la amo y la respeto hasta el fin de los tiempos.
When Amy was on top of her game she was together, great performance, she connected with her audience and put on a great show..it's the sad times when she was out of it, not on top of her game and rambling drunkenly and on drugs that tore her down. But By God she was a talented woman.
When they ask in a thousand years who were the best of all time, they will answer Amy Winehouse and Bob Dylan ... and Michael Jackson was also quite ok.
Amy caught people off guard. She was herself, and Jay didn't know what to think of her. I love this dress, and Amy is at her best. Also Bill Maher is Jay's best friend, so he had more to say to Bill. Amy just did the pop star stand. I still love Amy Winehouse, and will till the day l die.
amy looked great here and i dont think jay was being rude ,do you thinkl she would stand there and say nothing if he was being rude,it was her agreement that she would sing on his show as long as she didnt have to interview
Nossa como sofri com a perda dessa mulher!!! Qdo chego do trabalho, meu filho de 9 anos me dá a notícia: -meu pai aquela cantora q vc gosta e repete o CD dela, morreu. Parecia q perdi algum parente meu,fui pra meu quarto vê na internet se era verdade e chorei no oculto.
Such a good performance, despite her troubles. Often her performances in this era were ‘bad’ but this is one of the finer ones. She sounds great and is coherent enough to change the rhythm of the verses and looks iconic.
@@cana3663 i think they just meant her movements; i have observed in many performances that she moved around a little stiff/'awkwardly' and never seemed too sure what to do with her hands, so she just touched her hair a lot. i say this without judgement as i would probably look even stiffer, but i have noticed it a lot. not that it matters because that magnificent voice far outshines any awkwardness she may have anyway :)
@@psychalgiac This was mostly due to the fact she had really bad stage fright, and it made her really anxious. It also explains the drinking while performing sadly.
How could BLAKE not absolutely fall in love with her n gobble her up with love for eternity that's all she wanted and deserved shit me and a million others would of gave it to her why didn't she see us why!
