An Abridged History of Croatia and Slovenia 

As an introduction to our trip to Croatia and Slovenia here is an abridged history of the region. The history of the Balkans is messy to say the least. To understand the cultural issues, the architecture and the food, it helps to have a basic understanding of of a history of empires fighting over and through these lands.
