Good introduction. I am considering moving over from ArcMaps, and this makes clear how to do similar things to what I already know in ArcMaps. I will probably use it to train some people new to GIS.
Hi sir! Do you have youtube video in the conduct of GIS weighted suitability analysis as decision support tool for mangrove rehabilitation? Hope you could make a video out of that sir if you don't have any of that topic.
for some reason in QGIS 3.28 i cannot label elevation colors with decimal points, it automatically rounds to integer and i cannot change it, any ideas sir
I watched almost 20hrs of QGIS tutorials but nothing could give me the start that your tutorial gave...very well done. this is a class room quality for people like me.
This is fabulous. You explain so clearly and at the perfect speed. And because the video is so beautifully divided into sections, I was able to just watch the 10-15 minutes that I needed and get on with my project. Thank you!!
great video, I want to hire you to do some GIS analysis of a site outside KLL and to overlay some open a data analysis on it, are you available to do this?
I finished this tutorial then went to get a cup of coffee, smiling from ear to ear. It's great when someone makes material that actually makes one feel smarter. Well made.
This is an absolutely amazing tutorial! I learnt a lot in this session, all the points are clearly explained! Thank you so much! A quick question: If you have coordinates in .csv that you want to superimpose on your map and want them to bear specific colours based on the location, how would you do that?
You could add the .csv file as a layer, by going to 'Layer' in the menu bar > 'Add Layer' > 'Add Delimited Text Layer' > Navigate to where you have stored your .csv file and > Add. You will see the .csv layer appear, assuming it has latitude-longitude column fields in the original table. You may start editing the colors by choosing the layer > Properties > Symbology
This may be a dumb question, but how are you gathering the data? Or how are you saving it so it loads with all the info, such as names of hospitals, road names, etc.? The use of the site doesn't seem too complicated, but I'm a bit confused as to how to get started with the actual data
Thank you so much. This was really helpful. I've been finding an alternative for ArcGIS which is free and qgis seems like its the best alternative. I might even like it even more than ArcGIS considering the UI, speed and ease of application. Raster geo-processing seems very polished.
I have just started learning QGIS and I find this tutorial EXCELLENT!! very well explained and I have to even pause the video at the middle to not forget that I wanted to write this review. Looking forward to watching all of them!! Thank you very much for this video!
The Shapefiles you included don't seem to line up with the park's boundaries. They seem to sit northwest of the intended area. I'm not sure why that is. Is anyone else having this problem?
@@joshlaw5597 Thought I was going insane. Definitely works fine when I put it on my external screen. Guess I'll need to upgrade, apparently fixed in 3.24
Many thanks for uploading this! I've used AutoCAD and lot's of other programs before. I've just glanced at QGIS a while ago and it was very overwhelming. Your introduction made it easy to understand. I wish when I was in school learning AutoCAD, I was able to record what the teacher was saying and what was on the projector screen as the teacher was explaining, so then I could pause and rewind while trying to follow along with the example project. I'm sure Google can answer my questions, but maybe you have a video of it.
Thank you for this excellent introduction! It was very clear and helped me a lot. In the future, you might say "up here" or "On the left" when you're pointing out tools. "Over here" could be anywhere and I had to rewind a couple of times to see where the tool was. Overall, though, excellent job!
There are multiple ways. You can obtain shapefiles of various geographical boundaries including countries, districts, states etc. from various web portals such as diva-gis. Alternatively, you can also use a basemap and digitize to create your own shapefiles as well.
Sincere Thanks GEODELTA Trainer for the wonderful tutorial which was very crisp and quickly prepare for depth of GIS.Is there a way to get the data extracted from QGIS and take to POWER BI for performing analytics with respective tabular data of the areas in map? Any advice in this context will be really helpful.Thanks.
@John_K.A 1 day ago Hello, very informative video. I am completely new to QGIS and therefore have a question and I will be glad if you will be nice to support. I have connected an access DB with ODBC to QGIS. But the coordinate systems in the database are Gauss-Krüger coordinate system format. The mapped points therefore do not show up and not read into the maps at all. Can you guide me with how best to make the points readable in QGIS. Thanks in advance
Navigating to files contained within a GDrive folder saved to Windows doesn't work for some reason. It limits the depth I can go in file browser panel. Any ideas why? *edit: I have an emoji in the folder name, that causes it not to be visible within the browser. *I'd like to add, this is an excellent tutorial. Really well paced and concise high level overview. thanks
Great course that you dear, however, I would like to ask you about the QuickMap Services Plugin, how can we customize (change the visuals) of the OSM (the basemap)? Another Question, when working with Toggle Editing, is there any richer/advanced option to edit curves, etc shapes to lines?? thanks
Hello.. Thank you from a newbie. Great tutorial! Question: How can I remove the welcome screen from QGIS? (Recent Projects and Project Templates?) So I have a clean map screen.
Instead of having a classed based gradient for the "clipped (mask) as you did in the video, I get a linear gradient from 11-59. So while adding the legend to the final map , I have a the gradient and not the different classes ? Any solutions ? Thanks !
you lost me at 3:58... I have no shape files after opening new QGIS installation. Your video didn't explain how to get them and load them. Guess I'll have to watch a different video. :(
This is the worst pedagogical approach. It's a piecemeal approach flying by everything and nothing in a random order leaving any apprentice hopeless to stay focused. This approach is sadly abundant in developing countries and a significant weakness. I strongly advise adopting a "U.S. dumb-safe" approach based on generalities presentation first, then explaining items like main functions one at a time while illustrating with examples. That way, attention drop is prevented and anyone could actually learn something. The narration pace and voice are strong points. Thanks for the effort nonetheless.
shapefile layer (with missing CRS) and open street map CRS not matching. for example, The shapefile layer shows up in Africa somewhere when it should be showing up in the Europe. Can someone help?
Thank you very very much for this tutorial sir. I do have a questions though. Following the vid with the files provided, at the legend of the contour clipped mask portion, how come mine wouldn't show the value of the contours within the min and max contours? My legend, as well as in the map only shows the min. and max. value of the contours and mo in betweens. Oh and mine doesn't have a decimal value too. Is the raster file provided diff. from the one you used? Again thankss a lot!
Very nice tutorial.., explained very well thank you so much sir., Plz clarify one doubt sir.,How to snap anywhere along a line., As am trying only edges of line are snapping., I want to add points on line at different positions., But snapping is not working
What is software like this usually used for? I'm currently trying to make as detailed of a map as possible with a small size to fit on an SD card and plug into a DIY hiking GPS system I'm working on. If anyone has suggestions i'm open to them.
Why are you talking so fast? Its a real struggle to catch and understand what you are saying. I'm sorry but I gave up on this video in the first minute. Sounds like gibberish to me.
i have not watch your video yet, but from the positive comments below u r deserved to get more subscribe...allow me to share your video with my students and i will ask them to subscribe your channel...i am new to QGIS and my intend is to publish map from qgis to website..wish me luck..lol
I am facing a problem actually. In the symbology of the clipped mask, I can see that you are having fractions value but I am getting only natural number. Can anyone help me?
i have question here, how get a folder for an interested area to digitize a map for... for instant i want to digitize a map for Kruger National Park in South Africa, how do i get the folder that contains the information for the interested area?
Thanks a lot for such tutorial. While digitizing a line, how to delete the last drawn line like in Google earth pro it can be deleted by just right click "to undo"
Does QGIS 3 have the capability to add points with number labels from geolocated photos i've taken on my phone? I am looking for a means to be able to create a map showing where i took a picture with a point and label.?
I realize this video is two years old, but nothing in this presentation is like a current default installation on Linux. Impossible to follow the tutorial at all.
Thank you for your tutorial. I'm looking for a tutorial on how to overlay a grid over multiple polygons (layers). I need to be able to specify the size of the square grid and be able to randomly select those square grids for sampling. Once I have the selected square grid, I need coordinates to upload onto my GPS (Garmin 62) in order to get to those grids.
I downloaded the data from google drive and tried to upload in the interface. I got the notification that the source of data is invalid. Is there a reason for this?
