This was so comprehensive and excellent. Preparing my thesis now and the software i tried to use to delineate my catchments wasn't working properly. This saved me. Cheers
The following layers were not correctly generated. • D:/Anak Kampus/Teknik Sipil Undana/fill sinks (wang & liu)/area.sdat You can check the 'Log Messages Panel' in QGIS main window to find more information about the execution of the algorithm. Why ? Help me
hi, your explanation was too good, thank you for giving this video. but in current version of qgis there is no option for starhler order option. please tell me how to overcome this issue. thank you.
thanks alot for this tutorial i hafe a problem in getting the catchment area it can apear with me and give me a massage say the following layers were not generated.
When I apply the fill_sinks function, nothing changes in my data set. It has the same values as the DEM before. As soon as I apply the Strahler-tool, I get only a diffuse image (with 12 Strahler-classes) and no flow lines even after filtering for exclusively higher Strahler-orders (Strahler-order >=9). What can be the reason for this?
Dear all, when I use Upslope Area and Run why try a error "SAGA Version: 7.8.2 (64 bit) Error: tool needs graphical user interface [Upslope Area]" and dont create basin? Thanks
Go to plugins, select processing saga nextgen provider and install it. Then go to settings, select options, then processing, then providers and under providers you'll get the SAGANG, ensure you check all the boxes and on the saga folder specify the path where you installed it
Dear sir, I did all the steps until the polygon clipping, when I run the process, the next error comes out "The following layers were not correctly generated.C:\Users\4BEC~1\AppData\Local\Temp/processing_c01f9474fa7a46379b398a946e7c0e36/c38651f8b05448a9bb716228107b6a2e/S_OUTPUT.shpYou can check the 'Log Messages Panel' in QGIS main window to find more information about the execution of the algorithm.". Can you help me pls!
Sir after running reprojected dem.. Its showing "The following layers were not generated properly".. Not able to generate Filled DEM layer.. Kindly help
order 8 stream i.e. main river isn't coming after deriving channels under SAGA tool 'channel network and drainage basin'. What could be the reason. Thanks
i am getting error in stahler order The following layers were not correctly generated.C:/Users/harshit/Desktop/major project/Final/strah.sdatYou can check the 'Log Messages Panel' in QGIS main window to find more information about the execution of the algorithm.
Thank you for your very powerful, and well simplified and articulated demonstrations. It always saves some of us out here. Please could you do something on how to generate knickpoints in ArcMap for us? I really need to generate Knickpoints for my studies but i am unable to do it, and I cannot also lay my hands on any RU-vid video to lead me through the process. Thank you
Sir, I need a clarification on using filled DEM . Can we use filled DEM as the input for hydrologic modelling in models like HECRAS for the preparation of terrain?
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial. I'm using QGIS Desktop 3.26.3. Please why is it that when I lunch a SAGA tool, I get this Message: SAGA version 7.8.2 is not officially supported - algorithms may encounter issues. Also, SAGA tools do not work well. Please how can I resolve this issue?
Sorry to hear that. Did you try using a different DEM? you can download for free from USGS. Have a look at the following tutorial- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yYWdxExabHo.html
Please help! When I used the SAGA "Channel network and drainage Basins", I could not generate the river_network shapefile as you did. I got the message The Layer were not generated. I can't move pass that step. What should I do now? :(
I have some kind of the same problem.... I can generate "Channels" BUT without any information.... Not one pixel on the screen or any information in my attributtable.... how is that possible? Really need help.... :(
Great Tutorial, I came across an error while running the Strahler Order input 'The following layers were not correctly generated. • C:/Users/User/Desktop/BLAH/Tasarim/kayabasi 2/STRAHLER_ORDER.sdat You can check the 'Log Messages Panel' in QGIS main window to find more information about the execution of the algorithm. ' How do I solve this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Amazing tutorial. I have encountered a problem when I try to run my polygon clipping. It says 'wrong or missing parameter values'. What could be causing this?
1. Could be an issue with projections. Make sure the raster that you are trying to clip, and the polygon which defines the clipping boundary are both in the same coordinate reference system 2. Sometimes, its worth trying out tools from different providers to achieve the same functionality (such as clipping in this case) to see if any other algorithms work even though your first choice end up failing. For example, for clipping, there are different algorithms that you can try out provided by GDAL/ SAGA etc., which you can access simply by typing 'Clip' in the search box of processing toolbox.
Everything that you said worked smoothly till the upslope area from saga. It shows an error: tool needs graphical user interface. The layer was not correctly generated. Check 'log messages panel' to find more info. Sir can you please say what the solution to this problem can possibly be.
Hello! I dont know why but, when I put the straler order >= 7 It does not work. It creates more complex things. I dont know why. Do you mind helping me?
My flow_dir_Raster is getting mixed up, it is much bigger on my map than my filled_Raster. So something is wrong with the KBS. Is it possible it sets on default? But it says in the properties it is in the same KBS. (I use the ESPG: 32643 UTM N43)
you can try to merge the 4 different DEMs (raster -> miscellaneous -> merge) and generate one continuous raster. after that, the same steps can be applied.
I can generate the Layer "Channels" with the Channel Network and Drainage Basins Tool BUT without any information.... Not one pixel on the screen or any information in the attributtable for Channels.... how is that possible? Really need help.... :(
Great video mate! However, the Upslope tool is delineating a catchment with a single raster (a lot smaller than what it should be). Initially, I had an issue with the SAGA tool (I am now using QGIS 3.26) but could resolve it with the following video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t6jSSlMziTk.html&ab_channel=arjun.b Not sure what is causing the Upslope tool to generate a tiny catchment area but I have the following questions: 1. Can I use an .asc DEM instead of a .tif DEM in this process? 2. Could my issue be related to not having integer values in my DEM instead of float values? 3. My elevations from the FILLED DEM go from 177.358993 to 638.622986, can this be an issue? Thanks
Hi, thank you again for another great video. I do have a similar problem than with Troy Nguyen but with the next step - the upslope tool. "Error: tool needs graphical user interface [Upslope Area]" (...) The layer were not generated properly. How do we make sure that SAGA 7.8.2 is supported on QGIS please? It looks like that might be the issue. Thank you!
Can I ask what machine specification you use with such a speed? In my case, I am using a very strong machine, with 32 GB Ram but still takes time like one to two mins to complete the tasks. Thank you for your work as well.
Hello When I input data in Upslope area box and run, there is a error showing with missing parameters. So how can I fix this issue. If possible please explain for me. Thanks a lot for your very informative tutorial.
After you generate the polygon, you can open up the attribute table, go to field calculator, and add a new field for area and perform a geometry calculation to get the area. Make sure it's all in a projected CRS.
Could you provide a little more detail about the need to warp the projection at the beginning of the project? I tried the same and got crazy output when running the fill (I was using SRTM for Idaho-Wyoming)
I followed your tutorial but it did't work with deriving coordinate x,y. It keeps resulting in the same number of coordinate and unable to calculate upslope area. Do you have any suggestion?
If we have derived the river network with junctions in the same layer, and we want to separate them from each other. I need the junctions alone in a layer. How I can do this? Please answer me. Emergency.
Thank you so much sir for this . My research area is based on swmm. Can you help me out in making the shape file of the study area inorder to upload in SWMM..It would be so grateful.
Hi, the DEM used in this tutorial is just a 30 meter SRTM DEM. You can quite easily download them using USGS EarthExplorer. You might as well use an ASTER DEM for this. Refer to this tutorial where we have shown step-by-step how to download an ASTER DEM ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-roryIlOEWlI.html :)
Hi, it really depends on what your target/ objectives happen to be. For example, if you are doing this exercise to identify the total drainage area corresponding to a specific location on a river (for example things like designing a bridge, culvert etc.), then that would be your outlet point. That's just one example application case. There could be many other.
@@geodeltalabs Thank you, but I'd still like to ask for your recommendation on what I'm working on. I'm currently working on a lake/dam catchment using the SAGA tool. But i can't seem to identify the outlet even after using the flow accumulation tool to see the highest and lowest cells. I'll add though, that I'm afraid my raster isn't covering the span it should be covering.
Dear Sir, Ver nice video . Sir, how to open Net CDF files ( any weather variable) in QGIS version 3.14 ? Please make a video on it . Please . Thanks in advance
Thank you, you just help me through by following exactly what you do here. I always come back to you whenever I forgot something he he...I even bookmarked this video.
