Neither of these men seem to realise the primary point of having a fake. Nobody is looking at a watch in a nightclub and getting laid because of their watch. Also, fake watches aren't worn to show how much money you have either. One of my close friends had a fake rolex for years & he always had it on anytime he went out. He did this to remind him to keep working hard tell the day he can buy the real deal. Now he owns a few real rolex watches along with a Patek Philippe

I think the point is that if you wear a fake and someone aggresively demands it, you're alot less suicidal after giving up a £200-1000 watch than you are a 10k-200k watch. That said, fake watches are bad.

Most people can't tell a fake from a real one. Those that can you probably know. So wear the fake one as most people won't know and if it's stolen...your insurance won't go sky high. Also you keep your valuable ones in better condition

Either you wear the real thing and insure it or wear something cheaper when you go to shady areas (or move to a place with less crime). Having a fake one on your wrist makes you a target, while looking fake to the people you want to impress. Also it doesn't give you the same warm feeling of having amazong history and craftsmanship on your wrist to be fascinated and inspired by.

In certain lines of business there is a cohort of individuals that will take you more seriously if you own a 'nice' watch. Knowing this one can make a purchase of a clone watch for around £800 and have a better chance of closing or making a good impression of which the potential value could be far in excess of the layout for the rep watch.

No one is ever going to sleep with me because of the watch and even if it was a more recognisable one I wouldn't bother wearing a fake, because I don't want attention from people wanting to steal it, and frankly don't care who else notices it. I work as a developer , I do this as well, I started years ago when I banged my Platinum Rolex and almost broke the Crystal. Yes I own the real ones so for events weddings dinners etc I wear the real one. Many of my friends do the same. On another note all the women that buy those fancy bags are doing the same thing.

What I do is have an acceptable lower end version of the high priced watch that I have… like I have a submariner to where on weddings or high level events, but use my BB58 blue on a daily or if going to a sketchy place.
New insurance scam. Wear a fake version of your real one that’s safe at home. Then get robbed on a surveillance camera. File a report of the theft that is now on film. Then the insurance company pays you thinking your real watch was stolen and now your real Rolex has been paid for by your insurance company. So now it’s free or you could take the money and by a second real Rolex.
The chance of getting attacked for your watch is rare. Always have good situational awareness but you’ll be fine. I’ve never had a Rolex ripped off my wrist.
The general public will not know the difference - you will get your arm cut off wearing a Patek on the street or take off the fake one and say here take it - the friend makes a lot of sense - you wear the watch to occasions you can wear the watch

I don't own fake watches but I can imagine someone that did not convince himself that 10k for a watch is good value and doesn't care about watches but works in an environment where you need to project an image would just slap down a 700$ fake Submariner black dial, have the expected look and never be asked about the watch.
