An Actual Review of War Thunder

im gonna be honest, i supported war thunder for nearly 6 years now, and i have to say that the game is quite unique and there is no other game that i have ever played that is able to compete with how unique and fantastic the game's idea is. to start, i really like the game as a whole, the only big mess is balance and bugs. the overall gameplay and graphics is amazing, but there are some things that are frustrating when you play the game, but most of the times you will feel happy and have fun on the lower tiers (as long as you dont get shitted on by premium players with their premium tanks) until you reach the higher tiers where you will feel more frustrated. as in why you will feel frustrated, you may be having either issues with unbalanced tanks at that battle rating or either the repair cost as in some aircraft or tanks have really expensive repairs (i mean like i have to spend 100k sl per match just because my tracks were destroyed? and the shells are 320sl each? come on gaijin) and not only that, i think the battle rating system is a "good" system, but not really balanced. like are you gonna seriously fight a cold war tanks with a pershing or a königstiger? and fighting modern mbts with a cold war tank? (and why is the 76 sherman series on 5.3-5.7? it should be on 5.3 and you definitely don't want to fight a henschel tiger II on an uptier with only apcr shells to save you. but i too, take gameplay over realism to some extent.) the other issue i have experienced is server/client related, as in, ahem, very poor connections to the server even though your internet is fine. the problem is that whenever you fire, sometimes your shot doesn't register even though your shell was already fired on your screen. this, may lead to an awkward and a very frustrating situation where you have to sit and think to yourself "huh, pretty sure i fired that shell a few miliseconds than him and i still died?", this is quite an issue that i am really unhappy about since this is a very game breaking issue, especially when the people said "wAr tHunder iS EspOrts reAdy" this also happens when you're playing an air battle and your plane just plops onto the earth and makes you have to pay for the painful 30k repair cost. and for the final one, the tech tree issue. some of the nation tech trees are rich in aircraft and tanks, but some nations have a messy tech tree. (i.e china because they just copy and pasted tanks until higher tiers). some tanks have little to no lineups, and no backup tanks if you lost your only one in the lineup. for example, the british tanks have no other tank backups for the 5.7 centurion and you will have to rely on the challenger as a backup (in this case, a very niche backup) and the japanese 8.7/9.0 tanks which only has one tank that you can use by playing the game and another one by buying the tank itself (type 87& type 87g.) which can still perform well at higher tiers, but will be underpowered since you have no protection and you have no other backups. and finally, the other problem is the devs who told us to choke on our own vomits. sure, it may be by accident that a dev said that, but it seems like the devs really dont listen *too* much to the players, leading into a very unbalanced game. i am gonna be rating the whole game a 6.9/10 for now, since there are no competitors that i found right now and it has a special place in my heart. if you've read my own review, i am sorry to take too much of your time and please note that this is my own opinion and it may change as time goes on. have a good day and stay strong fellas.

I'm a war thunder veteran who can't speak clearly, anything I say turns to dust. That's just how the game feels. For the most part it's a good game executed poorly. Fantastic video spook!

What WarThunder needs is real competition. Either we'll get WarThunder improve drastically, or we'll get a better game.

Probably the most thorough review of wt I've ever seen. On a side note, if the covenant dance played while I was playing wt I'd probably just be vibing to the music instead of playing the game.

As someone who has thrown far too much time into war thunder, I approve of this entirely, its pretty scary how accurate this is. Keep it up spooks :D

How many videos have gone up, (1) explainging a problem (2) offering solutions to said problem (3) and explaining why this solution will be a healthy change for the game as a whole? More than enough to fix some major WT problems I would say. I agree abusing the Gaijin devs is a stupid idea, since biting the hand that feeds you, or in this case, makes a game for you, is a bad idea. However if you try time and time again to communicate to the devs what you'd like to see changed, and jack diddly squat gets done time and time again, you have to wonder if the Gaijin Devs even care or listen at all. Kinda like the saying, _"Trick me once, shame one you. Trick me twice, shame on me. Trick me three times, well..."_

WT used to play a lot of classical music like Beethoven. Then they removed it :/

I used to love how you could easily identify tanks by their gun sounds, things like the German 128, L44 and Russian 122 used to be so easy to identify. Now all you can hear is whether it's a Russian gun or not

As someone who has been playing this game since the very beginning my review of War Thunder is basically this. This game is like an abusive relationship, even though the person you're with drinks too much and is aggressive you start to find excuses for their bad behaviour at times. This basically comes down to the love you felt for the person at the very beginning and you wanting them to do better.

The game needs a lot of fixes been implemented. Like a better balance system, better maps and BR changes

My most memorable war thunder moment: I was playing an M10 and had just lost a track. I then realize that next to me is an SU-122 that has just fired. Now it’s a race between the M10’s manual turret traverse speed and the SU-122’s super slow reload speed.

I actually really enjoyed how you pointed out how not new player friendly WT is. The first few times I played it I ended up raging from trying to figure how to do basic tasks lol.

I'l be honest, I'm a bit dissapointed. When I saw the title "Actual Review" I expected a full on 30-50 minute, in depth, Owl PNG.-filled, Shammy style video, and i saw 7:29 minute mark. But hey, I'l take it.

What i love about war thunder is that, like you mentioned, its a good balance of realism and arcade. Overall, the physics are more realistic, but the controls are much simpler than full sims. If you want a bit more realism, you can go to sim mode and bind all sorts of controls. If you like fast paced arcade fun, theres a mode for that too.

To be honest it’s like eating your favorite meal everyday, sometimes you need a break but when you come back it is so good

I know you take a lot of time to make these videos, but I have a suggestion for a “historically accurate” videos. My favorite tank is the panzer 3, so could we get a video on the panzer 3 series? If not that’s fine, just a request

On the note of music, the Naval soundtrack is a damn masterpiece. Tracks 12 and 13 in particular are masterpieces. Unlike, y'know, naval itself sadly...

I've long since given up on this game because of how badly balanced the matchmaking is. They should also give the game more PvE modes for those of us who suck at PvP

Woah was not expecting to see many command and conquer Generals fans out there in war thunder i am subbing right now.

What the game needs, for someone struggling in PVP, is a good PVE mode. Better than the atrocious assault.

I remember playing this for literally 4 hours a days every day when this came out. I was a little kid but I loved airplanes. Back then it was just planes

As someone who started playing around 2017, ironically the easiest way to get an enjoyable experience for me is to play air arcade... which almost nobody plays.

They need to lower the grind in order to make it fun... I’ve been playing since September 2017 and I have only just unlocked German and British 6.7

To me, the game that deals with that "classical music in modern times" problem is Project Reality. It's also completely F2P and every map theme fits PERFECTLY, not to mention being absolute bangers. Ig it kinda makes sense since the game started of as a BF2 mod, which also had amazing music.

One of the main problems with the game is the tiering, I play as the USA tree, my highest tank I use is tier 5.3. I ended up playing against Tiger 2 (p) and IS 2 to IS 3.

Tbh, very well wrapped up. You pinpointed War Thunder's good and bad sides. I mostly have issues with grind and the Ultra Low abuse and Ofc, the Stock grind. Nice Video tho. and loved the joke on the end.

0:08 there is a very comprehensive review from a year ago, an hour long going into how balanced, updates, and map changes affect the game before stull like accuracy and server issues gets adressed. But it's in spanish.
