The kitchens look good. But my biggest problem with them is them is the service gap at the back of cabinets being only 40mm rather than 60 -70mm. You can’t get a waste pipe through!. Also only 560mm deep rather than the standard 575mm makes it very tight for integrated appliances to fit. I would recommend them to customers more if it wasn’t for the issues mentioned
Hi Peter. You make a good point but they do it so the kitchens can be fitted in a tight space. If you need that extra bit it is very easy to pack the base units out with the adjustable spacers. I have spent more time trimming backs than packing out.
Great to see product reviews, and/or seeing how easy they are to fit. Really helpful in making decisions what to buy for people like me who only have one chance to get it right! Looking forward to more for us DIYers on a tight budget!
They are a very good quality kitchen which we purchased online many years ago. Very sturdy units and all fittings are of a high standard so they get a👍🏻from me.
Hope CDA appliances have got better since the last time I fitted one. Saying that Howdens Lamona are garbage as well, especially their cooker hoods due to fan motors dying.
Quick buck Roger, nice video, I have used them twice now, I had enough problems with some of the door but customer service was excelent, this is going back about 4 years, hopefully they have improved since. I would recommend them and still do.
Small note: The third link in the description (the comparison link) is broken. Thanks for the good video for us competent DIYers that haven't done a kitchen before.
I used these for my house back in 2017, went up to their showroom first to have a look at the build quality before taking the plunge The only criticism I've got is that the paint is starting to come off in a few places, my wife doesn't use anything abrasive when cleaning the units so I know it's not anything that we are doing wrong
Cheers guys, I’ll check them out when I make changes to my kitchen, later this year. The units look good, compared to ones I have purchased off the shelf from Wickes and B&Q. Is the a minimum spend to qualify for the care package (tea and flapjacks(?
I saw it in one video and then never since. The half moon clip is fitted to the mixer tap before it’s fitted, the shape allows it to be angled in one side then the other from above.
Excellent workmanship (apart from the outside tap - but we all get minor faults in a big job!) However, I was struck by the lack of dust extraction when using power tools, which I think is pretty bad nowadays! Time for the crew to buy Festool? 😀
That outside tap install was awful... drilling inside out, no isolator, drain point and outside taps with built in double checks are not to spec on new installation
I wanted to go for DIY kitchen but haven't at the end because I wasn't confident in my own design, and if you need to swap units the minimum shipping order is £800 so I went for Wickes probably worse quality but when I made a mistake they swapped the unit in 3 days
Not a fan of all that particle board, will generally not last. Built my own cabinets with pliewood. I heard the high end kitchens also use particle board or mdf but it gets sealed completely in the factory, so no gaps anywhere. 😊
I didn't see anything about fitting an extractor fan above the cooker hob ... I only saw the hood going in but not connected up with odours going outside?!... Is there a follow up for that?
DIY Kitchens seems to be good. But there's no easy payment (monthly instalment) options. Therefore, we went to Wren Kitchens. The final prices for the units became almost the same with all the offers added and Wren Kitchens provide interest free monthly instalment options.
I've just completed a fairly large DIY Kitchen install, no problems with the quality, or fitting minimum spend is £750 and you will need that order number to reorder extras or computer says no. The only thing to be very wary about is delivery, I ticked the box that their lorry could get down my road which it can as I can get articulated 40 ton lorries down my standard London street, the day of delivery the driver rings up and says he's sending the order back as his lorry is to big, resulting in a massive disappointment and sullied the whole deal. It was eventually sorted out. I then ordered extra units a few months later & driver had no problem delivering with DIY Kitchens largest lorry. Would I order again? Yes but be very wary of delivery as they cram lots of kitchens on one large lorry. contact them beforehand be prepared to pay extra for delivery.
Watching them hang the wall units gives me PTSD! Somehow we managed to squueze mine in even though the walls at the sides weren't exactly 90 degrees, but were tapering in! Could have done with a flapjack back then!
When posting a video on RU-vid one is required to tick the box if you have been paid. Donated goods also counts as Paid Promotion. Not every RU-vidr complies but we do and you will see that RU-vid has flagged this video as paid promotion at the very start. It is not an advert because the information given in this video is not limited to any particular kitchen and there is no editorial input from DIY Kitchens. We chose this kitchen because we have used DIY KItchens in the past and cannot fault their products, prices of service.
that was just a long non informative advert for a company knocking out kitchens , try the wickes high gloss flat packs fitted mine 5 years ago still look good , good job by a bricklayer!
lewboi1 Yes we used to get complaints back then as well (probably from you) saying that the projects were not typical of most people's kitchens. This is a real job warts and all which many DIY viewers will gain confidence from. There is nothing wrong with the finished job.
What were they doing fitting units against visibly wet freshly plastered walls?! If you’re going to have promotional videos pretending to be high skill installations at least hold the company involved to decent standards.
iain You obviously don't have to do jobs in the real world. The walls will dry out, the world will continue to spin and we will all be home in bed by midnight
@@SkillBuilder Nah. Just watching the measuring, leveling, etc. - dealing with the out of plumb walls and out of square corners. As I recall installation (without design) was more than the cost of the cabinets in our kitchen.
