The world's first all-women Kathakali troupe, Thripunithura Vanitha Kathakali Sangam, has evolved and influenced generations of women artists and art lovers. Formed in 1974, this team of performers has taken their art around the globe on countless stages, and elevated the stature of women in art - to the extent of being conferred the Nari Shakti Puraskar by the President of India in 2017. Their story speaks of an unceasing passion for Kathakali, and about how a group of girls fortified a timeless presence in this male-dominated art form.
