So... in a couple days you can start breaking these out!! I bet it’s seemed like a lifetime ago you boxed them up. It will definitely be some happy piping!!!
elton rivera - That’s unbelievable, my advice, try as many blends as you can, figure out your favorites, then buy as much as you can afford, I probably have enough to last the rest of my life, you need to do this because you never know who will be next. 👍👍👍
same situation here, I got into piping literally 2 weeks before mcclelland called it quits :( got 23 tins of various mcclelland blends now, but that's likely all ill ever see in my life now
I missed out on McClellands. When I heard that they were calling quits I was to late and all the tins in my local shop were sold out. And when I heard that Dunhill was calling quits also I got 6 tins of Navy Rolls right when pipes and cigars restocked (which only lasted for a few hours) Dunhill. Should be set for a few years if I ration it and smoke Escudo.
Great video. I thought I was organized. HA! You have it down brother, love it! That's one of the fun things about our hobby, there are so many directions you can go with it. Thanks for the video my friend.
I asked my son to tell me what a tobacco smelled like to him. His first words were It smells like the 40's. That's when I showed him the name, MALTESE FALCON. Perfect description from someone who is not familiar with pipe tobaccos.
Hi @Muttnchop Piper, so glad you're back to making YT vidz. Question, did you follow through with the rotation mentioned in this video? I'm curious. Time flies!
Muttnchop Piper, this older video showed up in my feed. Thank goodness they haven't got too strict on tobacco law, but I bet the blends were a lot cheaper then...and now they've got some age on em! Let us know if you hear anything coming down the pipe from these anti-tobacco politicians again.
oh Kay Chris this is so organized as always so beautiful I'm also cellering I don't knw if you saw my first video I posted about two weeks ago I bought some Tobacco's to celler but I'm going to buy another supply next month and some are bulk blend and some are tins take a look at the video when u get a chance thanks Happy smoking my friend☺☺☺☺ peter
dear Sir, excellent choice and taste, you have two of them from Germany Aged B and Old G. I think FDA will organise all their requirement in a right way, and all of what you have will be available but at a higher price. Enjoy pipe smoking !
Thanks for the clip again Chris. Very nice system. Regulators are driving pipe smokers to the edge of madness. Here smokers are classified, boxed and hated, by preaching against smoking and blaming tobacco for many things, well what can you do. Have a great week and as always cool smokes mate.
Thanks Olle, well, here everything is driven by money, the government is loosing tax revenue because a lot of kids are switching from cigarettes to vaping, so our government is partnering with big tobacco to squash the threat to their bottom line. 😏😏😏
I smoke my pipe with a mixture of these blends together...a single blend gets boring so mixing them together really livens it up a bit....cannot urge you strongly enough to try.
Enjoyed this video and appreciate your thoughts on cellaring. May I ask what size boxes are these and based on your experience, what is the maximum number of tins on average that will fit in this size? I'm not sure if the deeming regulation will affect the blends that I'll eventually cellar but I like the idea of storing them to improve their flavor as you've explained in your other video. Thanks again.
Alex Rodriguez - Alex I don’t know if you have a hobby store near where you live, like Hobby Lobby, or Michael’s, but if you do go in and ask them if the have Photograph storage boxes, that’s what I Cellar my tobacco in, and I can fit anywhere from 12 to 15 tins in each box depending on the size. 👍👍👍
Hi. Just for your and others information. Today I have been notified by three German online sellers that Erinmore Balkan Mixture will no longer be produced. On month ago I've got same information for Peterson's Balkan Delight pipe tobacco. I was able to buy Balkan Delight, but wasn't able to buy more than three tins in whole Germany. Maybe German B&Ms have some in stock. I know that Balkan Mixture is in stock in some UK online stores. Hope you find this info useful.
Hey bud. Great Video as always. I was able to pick up some sleepy hollow. Should I let it dry out a bit(it is a little moist) before putting it in a mason jar to cellar? And is it okay to cellar bulk tobacco in mason jars, then put those jars in a box of some sort? My house usually stays around 74 to 76 degrees F. and between 60 to 70 percent humidity. So the plan was to mason jar some tobacco then put those jars in a box and stick the box in a closet. Should that be sufficient ?
Jedi Leatherwood - yes if it is real moist let it sit out on a cookie sheet for about 12 Hours then check it, if the moisture level has gone down then jar it up, if it still feels wet, let it set another 12 hours. Yes it is recommended you Cellar bulk in canning jars. Here is how you do it, loosely fill the jar to the top then press it down, fill again, then press it down, do this until you have 1/4 of an inch space between the tobacco and the top of the jar, then put on the lid and hand tighten as tight as you can, it will seal itself after a few days. Yes the temperature sounds good and the location is perfect. 👍👍👍
Hey, I have tried searching through your videos, and couldn't find an answer to this question. I have seen your gorgeous lables on your tins and here on your cellar boxes, I remember you saying you have printed these. Do you thing you could put an online location (dropbox, or something) and share a folder with all the art and images you have put together? I am working on my lids for my mason jars, and I have been finding various images that are ok, but some are not as good or harder to find. I want to set this up for my jars, but also happy to share what I have and do with others in the pipe smoking community. Please let me know if you are able to help share yours.
If he see's this though, would be great if he'd add his great images on to cellarlabels.com to help the whole community... But these days looks like his time is too limited.
@@Alex-oz9eh Really hope so, but it's been 11months. I hope he's safe and well and nothing too terrible is going on in his life. He's been so amazing and the best help in this journey in to the pipe.
Oh,my gosh, I'm impressed, one thing i'm courious to ask concerning on use of your tobacco collection, do you rotate between blends on a daily basis or wheter you prefer smoking the one particular bled of the month'' and when following month is comin down then you only are switching to another favored blend of yours, Thank you for your video, as always, I do find them very amazing and trilling'' ,full of information ,opening me new perpectives and something to thing about, Have a Gret weekend and God Bless,Paul
Paul, this is my cellar that I put together in response to the looming Deeming Regulations. The way I plan on smoking these blends is I will smoke tobacco that I can get my hands on after the Deeming Regulations take effect. I will let these blends Cellar for 6 years, then each month I will pull one tin out to coincide with the month listed on the box and smoke that blend until the end of that month, if I have any left I will put it in a ball jar and put it back in the box, and move on to the next month. 👍👍👍👍
All right Chris,as far as to these deeming regulations i cant see them go through in America, yes somewhat silmilair regulations might take effect, say in countries like nowadys Russia but not in America-that kind of regulations are hitting too hard on to the manufacturers, if each prior of 2007 brand ought to be licenced a -mean the federal inspection fees to manufacturers are pretty considerable in $ amount, arent they?Btw- as a tobacco expert, let me propose you to try those central European ''rural tobaccos such as type of Semois- I bet,You're gonna be impressed one way or another, those are available at 4Noggings.com and by the Smoking Guys.com , in the end let me wish you and your family to have a nice and restful weekend, friendly yours,Paul
+Pablo The Scandinavian I personally think that the Deeming Regulations will go into effect, but it will be a watered down version, especially for Pipe Tobacco, and Cigars, basically the government here in the USA wants to get rid of vapeing because they are in bed with the big tobacco companies that supply cigarets, and it's hurting their business, pipe tobacco and cigars got added so the vapeing industry couldn't claim they were being picked on. We shall see. 👍👍👍😃
in europe we have problem with ordering tobacco from different eu states. its forbidden by law to sell tobacco online to a customer in other state. so germans for example can only sell tobacco to germans online and thats it.
Awesome video sir. I have a question, I am about a year and a half into my pipe smoking journey and am about to start up my cellar. How long can the tobacco last in a sealed tin? I am sure this has been asked before. I would like to leave the tobacco in the tin in my cellar if possible. Thanks and take care.
Hey, Muttnchop! Loving the channel! Question, I’ve been searching for the Frog Morton blends, but they seem to be unavailable now. Are you aware of a suitable substitute?
hey muttnchop piper, I have been watching your videos on cellering and the deeming reg. videos as well. I am curious to know how much tobacco you would recommend getting for someone who wants to celler two different tobaccos and who smokes around five bowls a week. I have two favorite blends from my brick and moder store I like and want to have enough of it for a long while. I was considering a pound each, but it seems excessive. any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
in this particular instance, he's most likely leaving them in the tins for long aging. the ball jar method generally works better for short term aging.
BuddhaBebop - the biggest reason for me to stop cellaring is space, I’m limited in space, I just don’t have room to store more then I currently have, then there is the financial side, I just can’t afford to keep buying tobacco. And finally, I might have to stop smoking for a lot of different reasons, which are not connected to smoking a pipe, just old age stuff, arthritis so bad I can’t hold a pipe, dementia, things like that and if I have 3,000 tins of tobacco, all that money has been spent for nothing, sure I could sell the tobacco but that burden might fall on my wife, or a family member who doesn’t know what to charge, or they just don’t want to fool with it. 👍👍👍
Another great video and some great advice! For long term cellaring is there an ideal temperature and humidity? Or because the Tins are vacuum sealed not such an issue?
Jordan Purdey - it's not really a big issue, but just to be sure the optimum condition is in a cool dry dark place, preferably where the humidity is around 50 percent. But that optimum, I run around 70 percent humidity. 👍👍👍
Muttnchop Piper, I just saw your other video on it. And I checked out Bradley's Stuff and Things video. I wish I would've come across this sooner so I could've signed the petition. I just got converted from cigar smoking to pipe smoking literally last week (and I am loving it). This upsets me. And I hope I can still find great tobacco for my pipe. (Forgive me for not being well informed on the subject matter. I got distracted by changing career fields, going back to school, graduating, and getting another job lined up then relocating to another State for the job. So I was a little busy. LOL.)
David Clarkson - No excuse my friend, your life should stop when serious pipe matters need to be dealt with!!! Lol, lol, I’m just kidding. I think things have changed, so I think you are ok for a while, I’m in the process of getting updated info, and hope to do a video soon. 👍👍👍
i'm 56.......i think i'll do the best i can with what comes down...most of the stuff i smoke is grandfathered! hey, tins can pop, mold can set in.i'm just worried nor do i have the money to hoard a bunch of stuff! i love your prospective though and to be safe rather then sorry.
I completely understand my friend, the good thing at least is that now that I have my cellar stocked I would never have to buy another tin as long as I live. I want to make sure you understand I didn't make the video to what the older generation would call putting on aires, lots of people are curious about how others go about purchasing, and cellaring tobacco, I just wanted to show people one way to go about it. 😃😃😃😃
+NYC drums no, probably not, but I have enough to last I would say 10 years if I smoked 3 bowls a day for that ten years. Now I am talking about all the tobacco I own even the blends I don't like, if we are talking about only the blends I like, probably 2 years worth. 😳😳😳
Not bad..wow...ya know what i think i can do is try in the next couple of years is to start getting pounds of old joe krantz and jar it!!!then at least i will have some kind of a nice tobacco bank!!
oh Kay Chris this is so organized as always so beautiful I'm also cellering I don't knw if you saw my first video I posted about two weeks ago I bought some Tobacco's to celler but I'm going to buy another supply next month and some are bulk blend and some are tins take a look at the video when u get a chance thanks Happy smoking my friend☺☺☺☺ peter
