It is a widely accepted fact that Petko never in his life ever said "sand" without also saying " for the texture".

Mama? Did you bring the shovel and pail for me to play in the sand? For the texture. Why yes son. I brought all of your sand for the texture toys. I knew you would want them.

Hi Petko, maybe you could try and put some anchor points in the enclosure with no anchor points? Might be interesting to see if she/he moves out of the burrow in favour of webbing up the enclosure. Just a thought. Keep up the great vids! 👍

Personally I am not surprised at all. As you've mentioned, this genus has an very opportunistic lifestyle. Furthermore it seems, most of us keepers are in the wrong thinking that they prefer substrate to dig into. There are reports of several species (mostly from the dyscolus complex) from Penang and Thailand to live several meters high up in trees and making theirself a home in the 'forks' of branches. Other records of the species 'electric blue' from Thailand have shown that they live within the gaps of huge rocks and rock walls. Some even live upside down in 'caves' and build their webs into the slots between the stone. So how about some more interesting setups like these for more of your Chilobrachys? I'd definitely love to see them.
@naomimakin1908
@naomimakin1908 2 года назад
I think digging is the secondary instinct, the tarantula in the tank without anchor points tried several times to web, but gave up in the end and started digging... Very interesting 🤓

the next step, imo, should be giving three same Ts the same conditions: same size enclosures; same mix of anchoring points and substrate to burrow, same amount of time... and see what's really their taste for burrowing or anchoring, statistically

It sucks. Current life span is maxed out at 8 years. No cure and very limited treatment options. I actually started watching your videos when I was admitted to the hospital with complications from PAH. One video of you feeding Linda gave me an irregular heart rhythm. She moves in a way I didn't expect and it scared me. The next thing I know my heart monitor is going off and 3 Nurses run into the room because my heart wasn't beating right. Lol. I tried explaining what happened but they didn't seem to believe me when I said I tarantula scared me. 🕸️🕷️🙄🤣 So it might be possible to scare someone to death.... Just sayin'.... 😅😉

I only have one of these, but it eschewed burrowing in favor of a massive web labyrinth at maturity. As a sling I kept it in a gallon container with about 7" of substrate. He burrowed all the way down and I rarely saw him until he was near 3" I never knew they could stridulate. That is pretty awesome.

Have read for years how Ts don't have intelligence and only act based on instinct. I think this video shows they are more intelligent than that as they obviously consider options and make decisions more than just reacting. Loved it, definitely looking forward to see more like this and might try to do the same when I finally get to doing some vids of mine. Keep up the great work 👏

What a fun, amazing experiment! I hope that you continue with this, as it’s really something, seeing three of the same species behaving differently. And I don’t believe it’s just about the environment. I think you would find, if you gave them all identical environments, they would still find ways to make it different; as it shows the personality & behavior is individual, not species specific. Each of us has our own personalities, as does every other living being. Love it! Much love to you, Shelbie =) ❤️🤍
