John - I seem to remember that the last time I had a coil pairing problem I had to go through the menu on the remote and unpair the coil first, before attempting to re-pair. If that doesn't work, it isn't too late to go back to V0.71. As you know, it's a very stable platform and I'm not convinced that V2.0 has any advantages over it. Good luck.

I was just watching my favorite american metal detector show called the hoover boys. He just got his artifacts and coins back from england after five years when he went over for a 10 day detector vacation. He said he'd like to go back to England and find some Roman coins. I suggested to him that you too should collab, As you have roman fields and I think it would be very interesting.

Well done John & Albert. I'll pass on the coil pairing issue, I'm still running 0.7 on my machine. The lead thing with leather on it that Albert found... I've found one too a while ago. The FLO informed me it was a valve from a semi rotary type pump.

That coil pairing problem is SOOO frustrating!! I remember the last time you had this problem, they ended up sending you a new machine! It makes me think the old battery operated, non computerized machines are more dependable!

You can go to 1.1 version. That is what I am on. Never had a problem with it. 2.0 is mostly for the extreme detector anyways. Good luck John!

John, when you turn it off, leave it off for a couple minutes. You need to let the internal battery drain completely and then reboot. Turn it off. Sing “Happy Birthday” twice. Turn on. Give that a go.

Nice cloin find John. I am not a detectorist but the problem you describe is not uncommon with Bluetooth devices like mice and keyboards in my IT world. In those cases, the solution is often to remove all devices from the pairing list and start off fresh, repairing each device as new from scratch-the two coils and headset in your case. Good luck.

I’ve not upgraded from my vanquish because of the same reason as the dues 2 keeps doing this and it’s the only machine I want to upgrade to! But I’ve had two gold on the vanquish this year already so think I’ll stay put 👍

Hey John, great video as always, Perthshire is an amazing place for history, don’t get so much up here in Caithness but I love the thrill of the ‘maybe one day’ 😊. Quick one if I may, where did you get the plastic pick tool? That is a great piece of kit for getting dirt out of things without scratching or damaging them, tried to search the net, but no luck, cheers Paul.

The little lug on the copper heart looks like it may be the remains of a Cupid’s arrow. It looked like there was a broken off lug on the opposite side - the other end of the arrow.

They're called Martin gales. The big one set in the chest of a horse and a small 1. Usually attached to the bridle. We dig them in Civil War. Calvary camps

Is it possible to connect the coil first and then connect the headphones? If so, I'd give that a go.

I would write down the coil numbers, and remove them from the main controller. Shut it off wait a while, and then try to repair them like completely new coils. If that does not work I would contact XP. I bought one mainly based on your videos! That ought to at least get you some decent service, or a new machine. Good luck, and excellent video as always!

Hi John, I found this online about coil not connecting. Maybe give it a try. (When did you update to v.4? It makes a difference because XP did two silent updates in March to correct some issues. If you updated in March, do it again to make sure you are on the latest release (yes I know XP should have conducted version control and named their updates v.4.1 and v.4.2 but they didn't. It's still called v.4.0).)

@ The Scottish Detectorist If I'm not mistaken I seem to recall you saying that you were somewhere near power lines at or around the time you had the problems connecting the coil. Is it possible that could be the cause? Or is it possible trying to connect with both coils in close proximity to each other and the 'head' is causing a problem? Were you anywhere near the power lines? I ask because it might be some kind of RF/EM interference. Next time it happens try pairing them in your car because that might shield extraneous RF. Just 'spitballing' here but these seem to be possibilities.

Your silver may have been scratched from the recent ploughing as it was still in a clod when you found it. I hope you get your detector issues sorted out. Nice to see Albert out again today and well done on his silver too.

Re the coil John - I think there is a glitch with something going on with coil connection? I find that if you turn the pad off and re connect a couple of times it picks it up! A bit like you havevto do with your computer or lap top when it won’t do something! 🤞

About your metal detector problem...it might be humidity distrupting the signal. condensation. Try storing it overnight in the most dry place you can find. I don't know if you have those little humidity absorbing bags that come in beef jerky packages in the U.K., but if you can get your hands on some of them, store your detector in a closed box with a bunch of them when not in use. That has been the problem with a number of machines of a similar kind that we've had. Good vid. Good luck! Good all 'round!😊

The XP wouldn’t be my first choice in detectors. Nothing worse than crappy wireless technology and programming. I’ll stick with my corded detector. Great video as always.

Doesn't the D2 come with a wire to connect the coil to the head unit when you are in the water? Maybe a good idea to carry it along as a backup in the case of future wireless connectivity issues.

There is clearly a problem with your Deus II. Maybe a short, since both coils are working and charged, but neither is connecting. It would be in the interest of the Deus II manufacturer to replace your detector, as the negative publicity with you having this issue twice can’t be good for the company.

Just a personal opinion and take it with a grain of salt. But I think you need to be looking for a different detector manufacturer. I know you like it, but it seems to be a brand I wouldn't want to waste my money on. There is more dependable brands out there. I still love watching your channel for it is one of the best. Keep up the good work!

Napoleon III Cinq Centimes at 18:09, they're pretty much the most commonly found coin in France when detecting, they're like finding a George V halfpenny in the UK! They're bronze, so usually come out pretty well preserved, though some aren't so lucky. There are two different faces for Napoleon III coins, 1854-1857 was the first mass-circulated design, then 1861-1869/70 was a new design with a laureate head, it applied to all coinage. Face side is his head, 'NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR . (DATE)', with Albert Desiree Barre as the chief engraver and two marks either side of the date signifying the engraver and mint location. Reverse side is an eagle, 'CINQ CENTIMES . EMPIRE FRANCAIS', with the mint mark under the eagle Something to not also when finding foreign coins, Barre was the engraver for a lot of European coins, you'll see similarities in 19th century coin designs because of this, main ones to note are France and Greece, but did some for Venezuela as well. Could it be interferance from another Wi-Fi source I'm a plumber and we have a camera for drains that connects to an app on an iPad and it has attempted to pick up another wifi signal before It basically made the one its supposed to connect to the 2nd choice We finally figured out what happened and it has worked good since Just a thought. Great videos keep up the good work And forget the Jethro program, you need to be on the Albert or Pete programs. They been giving you a wollap lately 😆 😅

Sometimes when pairing up my devices, it is as if I have to do it backwards especially if I'm near a power line. Turn the coil and detector computer both off and the happy birthday song timing works well. Turn your computer on and set it searching for the coil, then turn the coil on. Sometimes it works.

Im so pleased indont habe a wireless system on my Equinox 700 i couldnt be doing with that out in the field 🤦🏻 i have no clue about the Dues brand and i take it those coils are constantly switched on? Its not an issue woth having the two coils turned on at the same time is it? 🤷🏻🤔

Could 11:51 and 27:55 be adornments from the trappings of a "hearse" carriage, jolted loose on a rocky road? I think the brooch at 28:50 would have had an arrow going through...mourning pin maybe? No irony lost at 33:40 with the inscription, "Who Keeps This..." on the pendant. Ah, the joys of the digital world, eh? Hope the company does the right thing and you get the fubar worked out of your equipment.
