Join us in Camborne, Cornwall, for the one and only Trevithick Day! Trevithick day celebrates the birthday of Camborne’s most famous son, Richard Trevithick. Born in April 1771, he went on to be a successful inventor. He invented the first high pressure steam engine, which made its first journey up camborne hill and on to beacon, before it over heated and broke down.
Trevithick day is a free one day festival celebrating all things steam, and includes a replica of Trevithick’s “Puffing Devil”. The day includes parades of dancing and culminates in a final parade of steam engines making their way through the town.
