I can explain Nanami's "Overtime" technique. First it isn't a cursed technique It's a binding vow (which also works with equivalent exchange) that Nanami made with himself. From 9 to 5 Nanami restricts his cursed energy to 80%, then after 5pm(when he's working 'overtime'), his cursed energy is boosted to 120%. Hope y'all see this. Edit: Binding vows are made with cursed energy, so Nanami isn't thinking he's working and clocking out, making him stronger.

Alchemy is literally just chemistry on steroids. Mustang's Fire? That's a combustion. Philosophers stones & Tucker's crimes against humanity? Synthesis. Scar's go to move? Decomposition. Ed making weapons put of the floor? Single displacement. I haven't really talked about these terms since high school. Damn.

Cursed Energy is actually really simple. It's essentially just a manifestation of a person's personality and how they see things. The sorcerers use negative emotions to power these manifestations to make them happen in the real world. Domain expansion is basically just a sorcerer forcing their worldview onto reality which is why it costs so much energy to do and why attacks are guaranteed there. Because how are you going to lose in your own mind? It's why every sorcerer has such a unique ability, because everyone's mind works differently.

the thing with nanami is that he basically made a pact. A pact is a contract with someone else or yourself that has a downside, but also an upside. So he gave some of his strength, while he's on the clock, but in return as soon as he's doing overtime he gets boosted. At least that's how I understand it

I personally think that Scars way of using Alchemy is one of the coolest ways to spin an established powersystem on its head. Its still all in the realm of Alchemy understanding, destruction, reconstruction, Scar simply stops the process after the destruction step and thus his alchemy turns into a sort of deathtouch. I Also like that the Humunculi are basically using very specific alchemy for their abilitys, instinctually manipulating the mass and makeup of their bodys to archieve their "ultimate power", their philosophers stones acting as a sort of alchemical battery that supplys the nessecary material. None of them are actively doing the process they just get the results, they dont have to make an equivalent exchange but they also arent flexible with the application of alchemy, they get one facette of it and thats it, similar to how each of them only has a grasp on a small facette of life and what it means to be human.

I agree with the MHA system, albeit I'd put it in B tier. The only part that needs to be improved on is it's social aspect in the universe. Part of the weakness that I think My Hero Academia has is it's lack of extrapolation on the social aspect's of quirks, something that is shown in the movies Heroes Rising, Heroes' World Mission and it's Vigilante's spin off but it's something I wish we could see in the main story. I wish we got to see the oppressed of this world: the quirkless, villainous quirks, mutant quirks, weak quirks, or quirks that effect a person mentally. Deku in EPS 1 says that UA got rid of the rule where a quirkless person couldn't even apply to enter the Hero Course. Shinsou being discouraged for his "villainous quirk", Bakugou and Yaoyorozu were praised for their powerful quirks, Twice believing he may not be real, Toga facing quirk counseling due to her blood addiction, Shoji's life and abuse as a heteromorph, Kirishima believing he wouldn't be a great hero due to his straightforward quirk, and the Aoyama family being so desperate for their child to have a quirk that they turned to AFO of all people for it. It has the potential to be something similar to the X-Men's version of Mutants but on a different scale, it's honestly sad to see it be a shadow of what it could be.

World Trigger has one of the best power system. But i only want them to get confused by how complicated it is lol

The only problem I have with chakra is when some "big bad" shows up basically with infinite amounts whilst everyone else has to be careful with its usage. Like being a Jinchuriki is a cheat code for chakra since the tailed beast usually winds up doing 95% of the heavy lifting plus powerups for plot.

Nobara's hairpin technique is like a delay bomb, straw doll is more complex but if she gets a bit of a spirit depending on the value (not well defined) she can deal damage through the soul to the main body

I want to bring up Triggers/Trion from World Trigger. It's a sci-fi series where the powers manifest as weaponry and equipment, with melee blades, short-to-medium range guns, more freeform shooting, and sniping, along with various shields, stealth, and movement abilities. The appeal of the system is how anyone can choose which abilities to make use of, but you're limited to accessing only a small number (up to 8) at a time. Everyone also has access to the Trion Body, which replaces your real body in combat, meaning you get to walk away from losing a limb or getting beheaded or exploded without a lasting effect when you bail out. This main system lets the story play out more tactically as it promotes heavy teamwork, plus there are other unique aspects such as the otherworldly invaders with their own unique weaponry, and extra-sensory powers that people with higher amounts of Trion tend to manifest, which they call Side Effects. They've also turned their training system into what's basically an e-sport, since they're able to put their teams against each other in true combat without the risk of killing each other.

One of the main ways characters in JJK make their technique stronger is by putting restrictions on it. The example you used of Nanami getting stronger when he enters overtime mode, is because he put a restriction on his cursed energy output. He doesn't get to use his full power until he's in overtime mode, and since he limits himself at every other time of day, his power during overtime is stronger than if he was just fighting at 100%. Another character in the manga literally made his cursed technique a one-time use ability via a binding vow, to make it as strong as possible so he could use it specifically on one person. Maki and Toji are special cases of heaveny restrictions. Their restrictions are some of the most extreme, where they lose all of their cursed energy, and in return they receive bodies with superhuman levels of speed and power. However, that heavenly restriction wasn't done of their own free will. They were born that way. I'll agree there are a handful of hard to understand techniques in JJK, like Hakari's Pachinko domain, but for the most part, it's pretty easy to understand how most work. Nobara's was definitely one of those too. It's not hard to understand after seeing it once or twice that it's just the ability to imbue her cursed energy into nails, which she can fire into targets to inflict damage to them, by linking her to that target. Then, she can inflict damage to them at range with her straw doll technique. She can also take a piece of her opponent, like a severed body part and use her hammer to drive nails into that part and deal damage to the rest of their body through Resonance. I prefer when powers aren't always super simple like, "I shoot fire," or "I create ice."(Which are both powers that also exist in JJK btw) I appreciate how unique and complex the techniques in JJK can get. Also, Gege turning the trope of anime characters explaining their abilities into an actual way to make your technique stronger in a fight, is a great twist on the stereotype.

so, for jujutsu kaisen, some power are based on real curses which like jutsu you apply a curse technique to your curse energy and you do it. But some people have heavenly restrictions and binding vows, its a little complicated but they make sense. for a quick example, the Clocking out thing is a binding vow, that because he follow that strict rule during a fight he can make his curse energy rise to MUCH higher levels when he goes overtime.

Nobura's cursed ability is literally the move Curse from Pokemon when used by a ghost type. I haven't seen it since og Pokemon, but back then the animation for it even involved the pokemon driving a nail into them self to hurt the opponent.

Here’s a simple explanation of the jjk power system: think of cursed energy like nen or chakra but the chakra comes from negative emotions. Like chakra people have a set amount of cursed energy but similar to nen cursed energy can be increased by a risk factor or by taking binding vows Now for all the weird powers they are called innate techniques think of them like quirks or kekki genkai but instead of chakra to fuel your justu your need cursed energy. Cursed techniques are just different applications of your base techniques That basically it but if ya want an example I put one below gojo he has two innate techniques those being 6 eyes and infinity 6 eyes let’s him see cursed energy to an atomic level infinity allows him to create a infinite distance between him and others but the application of the techniques are red blue and purple He made these cursed techniques with both of his innate techniques infinity and 6 eyes It’s important not to get innate techniques and cursed techniques mixed up or you could easily get confused. Cause overtime nanamis binding vow has nothing to do with Nanami’s innate technique Hope everything’s cleared up tho and I understand if ya have a, I ain’t reading allat moment

From my understanding, domain Expansions are, a manifestation of an innate domain, an innate domain is inside your head and once you get mastery over your cursed technique, you can manifest that innate domain into the real world, then the domain Expansion has powers and whatever depending on your cursed technique.

One of the thing about chakra that you guys didn't mention but made it cool for me was how elemental releases are done. Basically everyone has an affiliation to an element based on their chakra properties. Like how wind users' chakra are sharp and can cut objects, or lightning users' chakra vibrates to make lightning.

Actually in Marvel there are people who can just be born with it which are mutants you know the X-Men who also have a school and even for the other people like Spider-Man it all due to celestials, god-like beings who were genetically experimenting on humans so when certain humans are exposed to extreme situations like Bruce Banner or Peter Parker instead of dying they would get powers.

Understanding cursed energy is one thing Understanding cursed technique is another Some can be explained in a few words Nanami's CT is basically he can just do critical hits at any time he wants (overtime is not a ct, its a binding vow), and jogo's where hes a fire and magma man (dont ask me about the insects or purple fire), then theres technoques that need a bit of context like Idle Transfiguration then there's the demons, Limitless who you also have to remember that the six eyes isn't a part of the technique it just enhances it then to understand the techniques themselves you need to understand physics and dont even get me started on Hakari

You should rate the fits from the Fate series since their are so many of them like Shirou, Kiritsigu, Saber, Alter Saber, Rin, Archer, Kirei, Lancer or Cu Chulainn, Assassin or Sasaki, Diarmuid, Kuzuki, Caster or Medea, Rider or Medusa, Iskandar, Lancelot, Gilgamesh (Archer), and Gilgamesh (Caster) just to name a few I think this would be a really fun list for you to do

In Boruto(anime) the number of handsigns used is up for the new gen while many of the older gen use few to no handsigns for jutsu same with the physically enhanced antagonist. I can't remember how common they are in the manga though.

I don't even understand what causes someone to develop a cursed technique. I know ten shadows, infinity, and blood manipulation are a family thing. but what about hakari, or todo. is that also a bloodline situation? or is it just a them thing. and if its just a them thing, what caused the creation of the technique? their personality? hobbies? I really don't know.

What this is telling me is none of you know how cursed energy works XD Honestly jjk is fucking amazing because of the binding vows, like, nanami gets stronger when he starts working overtime, because he made a binding vow. This vow makes him only operate at 80% of his total power while in normal working hours. But the second he starts "working overtime" he is able to operate at 120% capacity. The absolute best vow though HAS to be "showing your hand" with this vow, you explain how your power works to the enemy, and based on how much you explain your power effects them more. So if you half explain your ability but leave some shit out, you get a modest power boost against them but still can have a strategic advantage. (A great example of this is Todo explaining that his technique "boogie-woogie" can switch his position with someone else's when he claps his hands. He reveals a facet of his power to get a stat boost, but he leaves out the fact he can swap ANY 2 objects as long as he knows where they are and they have cursed energy. Also, he diest even need to clap both of HIS hands, he can do it with a high five)

If y'all seen Fate, Domain Expansion are basically just reality marbles on a somewhat smaller scale. It's imposing your own will, personality, experiences, and soul onto the world with the use of cursed energy, much like how the atmosphere of a place can change depending on the place's mood, but amplified exponentially. Cursed Speech stems from how negative words and such can affect people. Like how if you were swear at someone, or troll them, they get angry or sad, which are negative emotions. Now Cursed Speech amplifies that effect to the point of it affecting reality in a more tangible way. And reason he talks in Sushi ingredients is that those words aren't inherently negative, and are not generally associated with negative concepts, which help him in not activating the technique. And the reason why his Cursed Speech is somewhat uncontrollable could either be that he's not good enough in using it yet, or it's a binding vow that strict his vocabulary, and strengthens his technique in turn, very much like restrictions in Nen from Hunter x Hunter. The pachinko slot thing is Hakari's Domain Expansion, and all those rules and whatnot are there strengthen his technique and love for gambling.
