This is so good. I believe he wouldn’t have challenged you like that if he wasn’t being convicted. As a believer that has walked away from his faith, there is a part of him that knows the truth. I believe that God brought him there in that moment to hear what you and your friend were talking about because God is still pursuing him. He never gives up on us!! So glad you spoke into his life with love and kindness.

I completely agree. As believers, there is no such thing as an accident. God wanted that to happen. God is still pursuing that man and all believers can see it. You can’t be mad at something that doesn’t exist. To all believers out there don’t be afraid to speak the truth. You will be rewarded for your faith. God will protect you. Jesus says our reward will be in the kingdom of heaven. Stay blessed my friend and thanks be to god.

I know this video is from a year ago, but how have I not found your videos till now? Isaac, you have blessed your sister in Christ. I have NEVER found someone sharing such deep and rich theology before here on RU-vid, or anywhere. I appreciate the talk on sensitive topics, pointing to what the Bible says. Just a quick question, and I'm not sure if you will ever see this comment, but what denomination did you grow up in? I was homeschooled too, and I am a Baptist. I have agreed with everything you have said so far in the videos I have seen of yours. Not a binge session by any means, but I really want to. The name of your channel reflects the content perfectly. His mention of child sacrifice might refer to the story of Jephthah, which is often misunderstood as a story of him sacrificing his daughter to God in a blood sacrifice. In actual fact, if you read very carefully, Jephthah's daughter was given to God to serve Him for the rest of her life (Jephthah promised this to God) and the emphasis is on how she didn't get married, she instead became a priestess of sorts. The story is about Jephthah's rash promise to God (the idea of 'if you do this for me, then I will do this for you'), and as a result, Jephthah had to fulfil his promise to God by giving his only daughter to God (so she was unable to get married and continue the family line - very important in that context). People often misread this passage (read Judges 11-12) as a blood sacrifice but it is more accurate to read it as Jephthah's daughter becoming God's servant, much like the prophets in that they had to give up everything to follow God (the idea of a 'living sacrifice' is more accurate here). Hope that helps someone who struggles over this passage as I once did :)
@abispanner3957
@abispanner3957 2 года назад
@Fountainblaze It's still a heartbreaking scene when Jephthah sees his daughter come through the city gates 😢 but if anyone ever says that God allowed child sacrifice, the examples of Abraham and Jephthah are not valid criticisms, although they are complex stories and I there are things I still don't understand ❤️
@petemiller2920
@petemiller2920 2 года назад
@@abispanner3957 How in the world are you getting this from the text? I don't see anywhere where it even remotely hints that Jephthah's daughter was given to God to serve him as a priestess of sorts for the rest of her life. Judges 11 very clearly, unambiguously says Jephthah gave her for a burnt offering to God, which could only mean he killed her. I provide quotes straight from the Bible: Judges 11: 30-31: "And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the Lord, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the Lord's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering." 32: "So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the Lord delivered them into his hands." So instead of telling Jephthah such a vow is immoral, God went right along with his plan! 35: "Alas, my daughter!" Here we see that Jephthah was quite upset when he saw it was his daughter who came forth of the doors of his house. Still, does God rescind the vow? No. 39: "And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man." So he killed her in a burnt offering to God, as he vowed. And did God intervene? No. How can it be any more clear?
@brendanmcdonald1109
@brendanmcdonald1109 2 года назад
@@petemiller2920 I re-read the passage. I think you're wrong, and even if you are right, all this says is that Jephthah did something monumentally stupid and sinful, not that God condoned it. God's acceptance or approval of Jephthah's action is never mentioned. You may counter that Hebrews later commends Jephthah, but it also commends other sinners who did awful things as well, and not his one action. Considering God specifically forbids human offerings, I highly doubt he would approve of one. The Old Testament is literally full of things God doesn't condone, but they're there for posterity, not as examples of conduct. However, Jephthah would have a hard time finding a priest willing to give his daughter as a burnt offering, and it's strange that she would leave to mourn her virginity, not her life. This suggests what she lost was not actually her life, but her ability to marry, suggesting being given to God to serve in the temple.

My question would have been "how did you devout your life to God for 25 years and now you are denying His existance because of slavery?" Did he just now find out slavery exists?
@cabpeer5963
@cabpeer5963 2 года назад
It is not because of slavery that the man became an atheist. It is because the Biblical God condones, even encourages, brutal slavery. This is not known by many Christians. The laws of indentured servitude, in which the slave is only in bondage for six years and is then freed in the seventh year, only applied to other Hebrews. When it came to foreign slaves, the rules were different. Foreign slaves could be owned for life, and could be beaten. Only if a beating caused permanent damage, such as the loss of an eye, could the slave go free. And if an owner murdered his slave, the owner was put to death. But that doesn't erase the fact that slavery was in fact condoned by Yahweh, and was not, in fact, very different from the practices of the translantic slave trade, which is what we know and hate today. Now, what I just described were laws from the OT. But what about the NT? Well, Peter encouraged slaves to obey their masters, even if they were cruel. Jesus himself never outright spoke against slavery.

I think when the guy was talking about God wanting a child sacrifice, I think he was referring to when God told Abraham to sacrifice/kill his son Isaac and the guy didn't know the scripture.. but that story isn't God actually wanting a child sacrifice, our God (the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) is not like the gods that require child sacrifice (like Molech or others).

I would say that it’s not good to reason because the Bible says the full says in his heart that there is no God so why should anyone really try to reason with someone who really just doesn’t believe in that why not just show and tell them exactly who God is rather than just try to attempt to prove him right because the Holy Ghost can prove himself right.

I will say, definitely something out of left field for a random guy to just say "I'm an Athiest" and start walking away basically. I would've been way more engaged than that for sure. I would first ask in I could interject, and ask for a seat at the table and just giving my opinions on your God. Having a debate with someone actually is kind of exciting to me, cause then I can hear their stories/experience/'evidence' for why they believe in God, and then start breaking them down. But one major issue that I have with your video there is that God literally gave laws on how to buy/sell slaves, that you could inherit them if your parents died, that you had them serve with you for a certain numbers of years, but could trick them into a lifetime if you gave them a family in that time, and so on and so forth. Heck, there's even laws for selling your own daughter for pet's sake. So I don't know what God you're talking about, but the God of the bible does thoroughly condone slavery in every sense of the word. No where in the bible does it say Thou shall not have slaves, or anything of the sort. Have you ever read Exodus 21? If that's not condoning the behavior, then I must be missing something

You don't need God to know right from wrong. Here's where morality comes from: Human beings (homo sapiens) are social animals. Back in the time of the cavemen, in order to survive, we needed and depended on other humans. Just like a beehive, or an anthill, we depended on each other to survive! "Psychological and neuroscience research both tell us that morality, our mental ability to tell right from wrong in our behaviors and the behaviors of others, is a product of evolution. Morality has been passed on through the course of evolution because it helps us to live in large social groups by enhancing our ability to get along and interact with others. “Building blocks” of morality, such as sensing fairness, experiencing empathy, and judging others’ harmful and helpful actions, can be observed in infancy, before a child’s social environment would be able to have a strong influence. Specific parts of the human brain are involved in moral reasoning - both the kind that happens very quickly and the kind that is thought out. Damage to certain parts of the brain can dramatically alter moral judgment and behavior. Although human morality has been passed down through evolution, it is also dependent on the culture in which we grow up. What humans consider to be moral behavior varies from culture to culture and also varies across time." - from kids.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/frym.2016.00003 Morality didn't come from God. It came from evolution. Basic science.

We all have sinned against God, and that makes us deserving of hell. Yet God loves us sooo much that, ““For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16! If you repent (to change your mind about God, to believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that He is our God) and put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, then you will be saved! And do not wait either, because you do not know when you will die. And once you die, it will be too late. God wants to save you, even right now, because He loves you more than you know it!

I am perpetually amazed how people can honestly believe this obvious nonsense, and believe they can convince someone of it who's not already convinced. The notion that god created man as sinners deserving of eternal hell in order to offer them a salvation they can't refuse, and call this emotional blackmail "love", is abysmally immoral and harmful. It is a corruption of the meaning of love, and a psychological ruse aimed at drawing people into an abusive dependency.

@@Chidds so If the nazis won ww2 and took over the world and they created a new society and they said murder is ok, Would you believe murder is ok?
@Chidds
@Chidds 2 года назад
@@youraveragecommentator491 1. Nazis do not equal lawlessness. If anything, they were the complete opposite. 2. Murder is a legal term it is by definition wrong. The key to the term murder is what it refers to. It literally cannot refer to anything that is "ok." It means the unlawful premeditated killing of one person by another person. 3. I am a product of the society I was socialised within. There are practices accepted in other cultures in other parts of the world that I find morally objectionable.

I don't see how the moral argument is convincing at all. If we live in a universe with no God, why wouldn't we expect humans to develop moral codes as we have?
@Ryan-rh8rn

@@petemiller2920 if humans are a by-product of random mutations and chemical reactions whose sole, natural function is to reproduce and evolve, then what would it benefit us to have morals? With no God to give morals, then naturally, your focus would be on the temporal - the "self". Why would anyone care about how anyone feels or thinks about what you do if you're just doing what you're naturally made to do? With no moral law giver, there's no basis for morals. Have you noticed how laws correlating with morality change? Or how people differ in opinion on what is or isn't right? It seems that to many, morality is subjective to how they "feel" or "believe" in that moment.

@@Ryan-rh8rn Isn't it easy to see how behaving morally is to the benefit of people who live together in a society? It doesn't take more than the simple realization that when you don't like to be treated badly, it would be a good idea to not treat others badly. Granted, some people don't get that. But it is questionable whether they would get it in any other way, for example through the bible. The others, certainly the large majority, need no god to come to this insight. Or do you want to suggest that if it wasn't for the fear of god, you would be killing, lying to, betraying and cheating on others with abandon? Really?
@petemiller2920
@petemiller2920 2 года назад
@@Ryan-rh8rn What benefit is it to us as products of evolution to have morals? Simple. One benefit is our survival. We wouldn't be able to organize and work together as well without morals, and when we work together, we can accomplish far more (e.g. advanced medicine, engineering) that increases our chances of survival. Another benefit is happiness. The aforementioned accomplishments also increase our happiness. And as a social species, we're happier when we treat each other certain ways, and we call these ways morals. So it's just plain nonsense to suggest there's no basis for morals with no external moral law giver. Now, you might still see some potential pitfalls with this, and I'd be happy to explore them. But you have to ask if your morality doesn't also have these pitfalls. Your morality begs the question: I have free will, so I'm free to follow or reject God's moral law, so why should I follow it? Why should I care? Does your answer not eventually come to a selfish reason (e.g. to go to heaven or avoid hell)? Yes, I've noticed how some morals differ with different people. This seems to be more of a problem for theists. Take homosexuality, for example. There are many denominations that embrace homosexuality, and many that reject it as immoral. I think you'll find far more agreement among people who have secular morals.

@@stefanheinzmann7319 The real problem is that atheism only explains *why* morality and our consciences exist. Who cares? Why should we follow them? They're byproducts of human evolution that helped tribes of our ancestors survive when they were hunted by snakes and thought lightning was the wrath of evil spirits. We're beyond that now, just as we are beyond faith in gods and spirits. We can safely leave them behind and purge society of religious influences entirely.

Hebrew male slaves were like “bond servants” to pay off debts and to be released after no longer than 6 years of service. Non-Hebrew slave men, women, and children, and Hebrew daughters were to be purchased, kept as permanent property and ownership is passed down as an inheritance. Non-Hebrews were allowed by God to be treated as slaves, they could be severely injured without consequence, young girls forcefully taken or purchased from foreigners as concubines and wives. Only Hebrews are to not be treated as slaves, but as workers. All slaves and servants are encouraged to obey their masters, especially the cruel or Christian masters, in a similar way to how they would serve Jesus Christ. For a slave suffering the wrath of a cruel master is commendable by God. You are right that you don’t have to know every verse. But if you are going to make claims like “God doesn’t support forced slavery in the Bible.” Maybe make yourself more aware on scriptures that discuss slavery. God doesn't not intervene in someone's suffering sometimes and that's the truth because of our free will, but I know for a fact, that it doesn't please Him one bit, to see one of His creation suffering at the hands of another, you can see it to this day.

You really believe “Mormons” have ranks? So many people don’t go further then a google search to find things. I’m a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints AKA a Mormon and it’s not like that. I’d like to ask if you’d like to talk about it and know the truth?

Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that he died on the cross of cavalry for the sins of the world and was raised on the third day and is seated on the right hand of God? If you have a problem with any of this; it's a sign of demon doctrine. Cults always look good until you become born-again. That's where an act of God causes you to feel so much love for the Creator that you hate your own life in comparison. Cults are excellent in manipulation and many do not know that they are in fact enemies of the most high God. I don't know much about Mormons, but God will look at each individual. So if you learn on judgment day that you had in fact never known or loved God; like so many self-professing believers, it would be too late. All I'm saying is stay in the Truth which is a person named Jesus Christ. If anything you learn goes against the Holy Spirit or the Bible then that organization is leading you to Hell end of story. I want you to know that Jesus is enough. Our own works are filthy rags in the sight of God. Our nature is unclean by design and only God's Spirit is able to strengthen us against it. Let no man deceive you.

In the old testament yes it was morale because that was the culture of the time .Also it was not a slave you think about .It was basically a normal worker that they i owned . But after the New testament slaves are no more because it is not part of the Christian culture .
