The crowd on this video is the a-z of british celebrities and sports stars in the 80's from breakfast tv weather girl Wincy Willis, BBC news anchor Anglea rippon , through sports like dennis law, Sir Jackie charlton, to star actors charles dance, Bob hoskins, Robbie coltrane and mega rockstars status quo, Rolling Stone Bill Wyman and Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, just too many to mention them all by name, amazing audience for the king of comedy ...
What amuses me most about the audience is, the (shall we say) celebrities with serious images on tv having a real good laugh. Same for me, the audience with the late, great Victoria Wood.
Billy is awesome. He is from here in Scotland and there's paintings on buildings around Glasgow of him. My cousin saw him and tried to just say hi to him but he's a talker lol. I loves meeting new people. It's sad that he can't do his comedy anymore.
Your right it was Billy in his prime talking about Glasgow, I remember going up to Castlemilk as a boy, it was a great environment, lovely kids playing in the yard very kind to me
I’m SOOOOOO happy that you found Billy! This is one of his best! I’m making a short documentary about Billy as I want more people to be introduced to his god given talent for making people laugh! It gives me so much joy that people from across the pond are finding him! He’s one of my hero’s and I wanted to make something in tribute to him as he’s turning 80 this year and his Parkinson’s seems to be getting the better of him sadly. We need to remember this LEGEND.
I used to have a video of this show. I played it so much I could say the words along with him. And even though I've seen it hundreds of times I still laugh even though I know what he's going to say. This is Billy at his very best.
Billy Connolly is a national treasure and legend of comady who l have adored for as long as I can remember. .my dad being from the same area probably predisposed me to having billy as my favourite comic.
I recall that this special was when Billy had kinda disappeared for a year or so and then came on out TV screens with this. (Correct me, troops, if I am wrong). He fired this gig and, then, went stellar. Amazing performance. Sean - loving yr sincere reaction to this. Thanks for the reminder of this show.
You're right ... what's more is that every person in the audience is a celebrity ... actors, rock stars, footballers, singers, comedians, talk show hosts.
Almost had as much fun spotting all the celebs in the audience as I had with Billy himself. It's like looking at the Sgt. Pepper album cover. Even Ringo was there!
I remember seeing this on TV when it came out back in the late 70s, we had some friends round to watch it with us, and one of my mates laughed so much he had a fit, and we had to take him to hospital, so I didn't see most of it till it came out on video, great reaction
Sean, I hoped you spotted one of Britain's great actors the late Tim Piggott-Smith, he's the guy in the audience with light ginger hair & beard, that by the end is almost exhausted due laughing so much, it always cracks me up, his reaction. The poor man is worn out with laughing.
You mentioned about being at his prime when Billy did this. You're kinda right, because it was always seen that in the good old days, if you were asked to do "An audience with...." in Britain, it showed you were at the top and/or popular (except for Take That), they were never good. 😉😏
This is one of a whole series of stand up shows, by UK comedians/celebs, but BC was the best! And all in front of a celebrity audience! Most non-UK watchers won't recognise many, but you might get a few!
A few others in the audience include Suzi Quatro, Joanna Lumley, Francis Rossi, Jimmy Tarbuck, Michael Parkinson, Jennifer Saunders, Bob Geldof, Bill Wyman, Bobby Charlton, Clive James, Bob Hoskins, Ringo Starr, Roger Taylor. There are others there that are kind of familiar, but their names escape me!
You seem to really like Billy, I think you'd love Peter Cook and Dudley Moore! or Derek and Clive their comedy alter ego's, please consider a reaction!
Something to keep in mind for this special: you may think you recognise some of the audience members. That is because the front section is mostly Britain's A-listers of the time.
Hi Sean, We watch you more than the act thats on. We decided that if we went to one of these shows we want to take you with us, you have a great sense of humour...Thanks for the fun...Always peace to you buddy. (If you feel strong enough try Bernard Manning. on "The Comedians" )
Hearing and seeing BC is like undoing your belt two notches and by the end of the show you’v no belt at all, or for women tantamount to taking your bra off.😂😂
Here's the thing. yes it seems like this is billy at the high of his powers. However this was just hum hitting his stride. In my opinion. Here he's like 15 years off his artistic peak and he just keeps getting better
