What a clean Jon Jones showcase. Watching those tip tap shots add up is so satisfying. He's not rocking them continuously really. Or dominating on the ground. He's just completely controlling the fights. The way Jon fights is poetry in motion. Im glad you can capture his style so well.
Wasn't expecting you to name drop Jon Bellion at all! Just goes to show that being academically intelligent isn't always the same as being world-wise or passionate about something, but you can still achieve just as much when you set your mind to it! Another good video as always Martial.
@@MartialMind he's great! Been following him since way back and I don't think I've heard a bad song from him. Glad to see someone else showing him some appreciation 💯
You are a good artist, no cap! I just recently got both your Suga Sean and Nate (Scarface) canvas art for xmas from my girlfriend. She didnt know what to get me and I pointed her to the site because I really love the art and needed something to hang up next to my Albert Einstein canvas.. Will look forward to some more of your work in the future.
Interesting the comparison of styles with Cain and DC. Much of that in my view is the AKA influence that Javier Mendez was able to craft upon the team at that point. Interested to hear if you think Cain & DC’s styles are aligned outside of training in the same environment or whether it’s merely the case that they inherited the same skill set due to being in San Jose.
Hey man, love your content and your insights on all the fighters that you watch. I’ve been thinking of getting into some sort of martial art, whether it would be jui jitsu, boxing or whatever. I don’t wanna just do the sport for the sake of doing the sport but I’ve heard it helps give people a lot of new skills: discipline, to stand up for yourself etc. For someone who doesn’t do sport regularly and, let’s be honest, sits on his arse all day, where would you recommend I start? Again, great content as always and I hope 2024 is a good one. 😁
Danaher is a leglocking wizard...i remember when he had the combover helping GSP coach the ultimate fighter when he had that drunken kickboxer come in and beat everyone up.
Happy new year and all the best for 2024 martial! Your theory when you mentioned about the game encouraging you to use a fighter the way they fight in real life wouldn’t work with me and my favourite fighter, Charles Oliveira, purely because the clinch system in UFC 5 is so bad, there’s a total disconnect between striking and getting into the clinch it doesn’t feel seamless, the way Charles will crash into the clinch and punish his opponents with knees when they try to escape, it’s very hard to use Charles the way he fights in real life in UFC 4 and UFC 5. Charles very rarely shoots for takedowns, they usually come from the clinch and trips against the cage like in the Dustin Poirier fight. He’s shot for a couple takedowns in his career, I remember he bodylock slammed Tony Ferguson in their fight. But you can’t just enter a body lock position seamlessly in this game, again there is a disconnect between striking and grappling on the feet. Even when you have your opponent against the cage, your options are very limited to what you can do, when you watch an MMA fight, a lot of work is done when both fighters are against the cage whether it be the dominant fighter or the defending fighter, there’s just none of that in UFC 5. What I don’t like as well is how your opponent just automatically gets a reversal against the cage if the deny a takedown attempt. Just feels so unfinished
I think they need to spread the stats a little better. A lot of fighters are given above average stats at aspects they’re average or even below average. If they spread the stats more realistically it would be a good start to push more of a simulation gameplay.
Excellently articulated! Glad someone finally spoke on the lack of organic gameplay. Yes, it's a game, however, it's a game that's simulating a real sport. Games such as Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter, etc, I personally don't mind having extraordinary physics. If your rebuttal as a dev is "its a game" , I would humbly suggest you get on a dev team that makes "fantasy" based games. We don't want our combat sports games playing like Tekken. I just can't wrap my head around a triple A developer NOT deep diving into the physics engine of a combat sports game. Game is waaaay too stiff and "arcadey". I'm waiting on "Undisputed" boxing and another early development title called "Overhand", which is Mauy Tai, they both seem promising at the moment. Need a solid combat sports title because this is getting ridiculous man, they seem to be dialing these games in and they're not crafted with "love". Its been over a decade since Fight Night (I'm not saying that was the bee knees either).
To implement individual tendancy systems for each fighter, on top of the tendencies that come from the core stats would be extremely costly, difficult, and time consuming. Aside from that it would take constant tweaking and updates for system that is most likely not going to accurately replicate these individuals tendencies. It wouldn't work out they would most TONS of money and probably F up what's already been built. The idea is simple but it is not simple.
I don't understand why they don't make simulation mode the competition mode it's way more realistic to pick your shots time is real time, the problem with competition mode is you don't have enough time to implement a proper gameplan or adjust, it just feels like mma on speed, I was hoping the damage system would bring to life more realism but you dont pay enough for it every thing resets at the end of the round. I know they need a casual fan base for profit, but this ufc has been the hardest of all to actually play ranked and enjoy it. It needs to slow down a bit, we need a clinch system like ufc 3 back, in my opinion, or something that adds a new element to go to if you're being walked forward on. I really hope this ufc can evolve over time and be much better than it is right now. I agree completely with what you are saying about fighters using their skills for their particular game plan. For instance, they just gave khabib fast handsperk and took away like glue, and he's a grappler I don't understand what thet are doing lol
How do you play this game? I have 91hrs in this game and I still have no idea, how do you deal with runners? how can you tell what type of hit is going to come next? Why when I try to sway while blocking they hit my gloves and it stops it? How do you deal with input lag?
Henry I think what would make the game feel more sim is having accuracy be a damage modifier 0.7x to 1x for example Strikers with higher accuracy would do 1x damage more often than those with lower accuracy When brawling accuracy should drop as very often in the ufc when people are swinging in the pocket they don’t do a lot of damage There should be perks for that tho because some people are better at those brawls Counter strikers naturally have higher accuracy and pressure fighter’s slightly lower Then stamina nerfs should be a bit harder so that eg Connor’s don’t become super op The move levels could affect accuracy too
Holloway would be really interesting too low damage high accuracy and stamina You do consistent damage over time and wear opponents down with volume Or Paulo Costa high damage below average accuracy you would pressure fighters and occasionally rock them Conner high damage high accuracy Low stamina You can play aggressive and get them out early or play a more passive counter heavy game
They should adjust each fighter's attributes appropriately with the correct stats for each one and that would force a more simulation style fight. Use your fighters strong strikes by setting them up. They have a similar system now, just poor execution imo.
@MartialMind I love the simulation idea, only problem I see with it is it wouldn't be as user friendly for players without that kind of knowledge and they wouldn't want to play the game, which we all know EA is about that bottom line like any company, but maybe make it a game mode inside the game where it changes fighters stats and skills that increase their strengths so the people who want to play that way can.
Love all your content Martial. Been a long time supporter/fan, and I know that this comment is going to change what you do, but I just wanted to share my thoughts and request that you stop or at the least limit the amount of JBJ content you give us. He used to be my favorite fighter but after the hit and run, I stopped supporting the man, because no good person would get in a car crash and then flea the scene only to run back to grab their drugs and then flea again. Specially with a screaming pregnant lady with a broken arm in the car.....but since that wasnt enough for you, what about the fact that he vary clearly physically abuses his fiancé, and in front of his kids no less. It just doesnt seem like the kind of person you would support and the fact that he is one of the best at punching and kicking people for money, shouldnt be enough for him to receive anyones support.....rant over. Its just food for thought. Is JBJ the kind of person that aligns with your morals and beliefs? Do you want to support and promote a person that has done so much harm throughout his life - a person's whose own kids had to go down to the hotel lobby and ask staff to call the cops because their dad is beating their mom. Jon is scum of the earth and the sport will be much better off when he retires for good.
he never said that.... he just said he understands the way they fight and that helps him fight like them in the game. cmon bruh where are your comprehension skills
