We just finished spreading 40 yards of 22A gravel to expand our entry turn onto the property. We did a very rough grade with our bucket, and today we're going to do a final grade with our Dirt Dog Lande Plane behind our 1025R. It's easy, easy work. You just drive with the 3-Pt down and the attachment does the work. Watch today's video to see just how easy it is.

Great job. Too many people in the comments that buy a tractor and use it to only grade the driveway once a season and then use it as a garage princess the rest of the year. Try waiting in the south for it to "dry" and you'll never get it done. I think the results were great for the conditions.

Nice job! Finish grade is always a challenge that requires patience. Doing it by eye without setting stakes and a laser grade is always fun and a challenge. I've had my share of mistakes but have enjoyed the learning process. I would never have been able to do some of the projects around the property without my JD3320 and various attachments. Thanks for the time and videos. I really enjoy the content.

Raymond, what size land plane do you run for your 3320? I’m wondering if I should get a 60 or a 72. Also what kind of tires? Been thinking hard about getting some turfs in place of my R4’s…just tearing up my yard everywhere I go, even in nice dry spots.

Thank you Courtney for sharing your experience. The land plane has been a desired attachment that I haven't been able to justify where we are currently. Side note, I really enjoy hearing the sound of the tractor working throughout the video. The sound tells how the combination or tractor and attachment are doing on the project being done. Thank you for sharing.

Look up Grahl Manufacturing in MO. They make awesome field rollers. They offer a combo roller that is 3pt hitch for transport and converts to pull type for the heavy use after it is filled with water. Drain water to move it because mine a 36” dia. X 6’ long empty weighs in at 1800 lbs empty and 5000 lbs full of water. Of course they make massive sized rollers for the 20,000 acre row crow farmers too. Looking forward to see the gravel top layer go on soon!! 👍

Great video, but you don't need the extra weight it just causes the runners to dig to much and bog the the little 1025 down. I use mine all the time and the rippers are also worth every penny when it comes to repairing an old gravel drive or parking area. Just filling in potholes will allow the hole to refill with water and just wash out what you filled in. Potholes need to be broken up for a proper repair. But all in all great video and as wet as it was it still spread pretty good.

One of those weight brackets would be nice if they would fit the “curved”mount of an offset flail mower. I’ve got an offset flail mower coming and am thinking of a way to hang weights on the left side of the mower mount. I don’t want to make the tractor any heavier than it already is, so a mount like that would be perfect.

I wonder how it would work to top dress and level a large rough country lawn? I envision dumping small piles of top dress mix or screened topsoil and spreading it without tearing up sod. I tried with my landscape rake and created a mess. (I recently purchased a zero turn mower and can't take advantage of it's speed!)

The gravel is suppose to rolI over the grade bars. thats what gives it a smooth finish. have a hydraulic upper mount and it is all but required when using this thing. Needs the front tilted down when dragging or cutting up the compact gravel and then the back tilted down for final grade. If you're having issues thats why. FYI.

@frederickburns1739
@frederickburns1739 2 года назад
Courtney, I understand your marketing is aimed at the compact and subcompack line of tractors. And you have some very good attachments. Considering you remark about operating cost is less expensive for the smaller tractors ? I have to disagree with that. The hours it takes to do a job with the little tractor means more wear and tear. Which then requires more maintenance and the repair shops generally have a fixed labor rate. A bigger tractor and land plane half time and maybe a buck and a half more in fuel. But more time for the next job. Anyway you're still learning and meeting the needs of your customers and teaching the novices to become safe and efficient operators their equipment
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 2 года назад
Subcompact and compact tractors are rarely worked like that. Most homeowner projects are accomplished incredibly fast with these small machines and is one of the reasons the vast majority average only 50-80 hours a year. Seemingly large projects are done quickly. This 60 tons of gravel was spread and leveled in two hours. Do that 100 times over and it’s only 200 hours. No one will be doing this project at their house 100 times. Even if they did, 200 hours is nothing for one of these tractors. You could do that project 1,000 times and it would still be kicking. Besides, a 4066r with loader will cost you at least double, probably more than that. So, there’s a huge additional capital expense to save little time in this scenario. Plus, the increased cost of larger attachments. Going larger can have many disadvantages as well. However, I would not pick the 1025r for a 140 acre property which I already covered in a previous video. By the way, I still picked a compact tractor, but it is the biggest one offered.
@earlyriser8998
@earlyriser8998 2 года назад
As a novice and part time user of a larger tractor I have to agree with Courtney. I only spend a few hours a week in the tractor taking care of some specific project. (Trees, Brush, Roof, Gutters, Road Maintenance, etc.) The fact that it takes me 30 min longer or shorter is immaterial and I often don't even know how to do the task well much less efficiently. As I learn I get better but I am not getting paid to be fast and efficient. I have a large tractor because I have a large property with lots of big and heavy work projects. I had a crew with machinery out here to install a new building....the two operators on mini-ex and skid steer could make those things dance! But they get paid to do that. One day I hope to be half that skilled.
@mymorristribe

Interesting. The 1025r could have easily pulled a 5 footer. I wonder about a 6 footer. Have you tried to really max it out with a landplane?
@MIcruiserGUY

How do you get it to float so well? Mine will pitch and roll with my tractor, which makes it hard to eliminate the low/high spots. Your tractor was moving around a lot, but the plane stayed flat on the ground.
