I think it's interesting that you say people treat EWI like a new instrument entirely and that you couldn't quite get a scale out when you played one. I bought an EWI recently and all my sax skills transferred over, although with some minor hiccups becayse touch sensitivity is certainly something else. Can't comment on the Aerophone though, I don't have one (one day I will I swear). In any case it's interesting how different people have different experiences.
Nice video! I’ve tried the Aerophones before, and wasn’t a big fan of them. I have an EWI 4000s with the Patchman Music soundbank and it’s the perfect wind synth!
Ahh yeah I tried the EWI 4000s and thought it was hard to play compared to the Aerophone, but everyone has a different preference! I still need to download the patchman music sound bank onto the Aerophone!
Matt Traum a.k.a. Patchman of Patchman Music was heavily involved in the design of the AE-30 and AE-20. Probably a very good number of the scenes/patches are his work. He has several sound packs available through Roland Cloud. Please note that most of the sound packs and instruments available on Roland Cloud will not be very wind controller friendly. Some work will be required to make them respond to breath control in a useful way.
The Aerophone Pro (AE-30) is $1,600 USD while the AE-20 is around $1,000 USD. The other Aerophone models are older and not based on the current AE-30 and AE-20 design.
@@FoolishFrankie I think you recorded the sounds from the internal speakers (?). The reaction is asking to play through the output into an amp to be able to really judge the quality of the tones.
@@45zapatero I played both with the external onboard speakers, and with it internally (going directly into GarageBand). An amp will sound close to the internal sound, although probably not quite as good depending on your headphones lol
You must've been looking at the AE-30. That is their most expensive model. This is the AE-20 which is just under $1,000. BUT they also make models as cheap as $300! They all do different things depending on your needs:)
@@manuelgonzales6483 I’m not sure about the other models but I know on this model you can change the fingerings to be flute fingerings! I think some of the other models do that too, I just don’t know for sure since I don’t own them!
@@FoolishFrankie Awesome. Your reaction with all that laughter kinda sold me. Looks like you were pleasantly surprised at all the functionality you kept discovering. I will add this one to my interested in buying list. Thanks
