One of the better truck RU-vidrs to watch always giving hints and tips witch are priceless I’m a driver my self and I would urge any new drivers to take note Darren the hgv class 1 driver here in the uk 😊 is one of the few that gives helpful tips and pointers while out on the roads witch money can’t buy you

Another lovely video Darren. Boy you brought some memories back to me,you mentioned paper tachographs, I go back further, LOG BOOKS. Yes you filled them in when you wanted, and to suit yourself, if you know what I mean. Other drivers would wave their log book which meant there was a check further on. So you stopped ASAP and got it updated. Also you mentioned A TO Z maps. Boy my first trip to London was in a Class 3 Rigid,we delivered beds to Courts Furnishings who were mainly in the South. I remember pulling over on a very wide one way system to see where I needed to be, boy I was stood there for a long time waiting for some one to let me out to get over to turn left, that is when I learnt to just indicate and keep going slowly. I went into the Transport office when my 2nd child was born, as I was away nearly every night, as I didn't see my Son grow up, mind you he got plenty of toys from all over . I could go on forever. Love the way you do your job, no moaning, polite,helpful,and very considerate. It is certainly hard when you have a young family. Keep going the way you are lovely to see.

i find traffic is less on a friday morning on the motorways now im always on m60 m62 m6 people working 4 days week i think

True a lot more people are working the 4 on 4 off shift pattern or even just Monday - Thursday and Fridays at home

Great insight into a HGV drivers life on the road. Looks like you take great care and have a calm temperament. I'd be frothing at the mouth in traffic jams, or stuck in a tight yard, ha ha 😅. I still don't quite get how your employment works though. You get tasked with a drive and drop offs or collections. Sometimes you make it home, but you might not so you are stuck in a services overnight. So what if you were expected to be driving from your home depot the next day with another load but you are stuck elsewhere? When you get stuck out you sometimes get a collection, but surely you must end up back at your depot just a few hours into the next working day? Do they just find you some more deliveries? Can't quite work out in my head how they task you and pay you! 😂

🤣🤣 when I do a night out they tend to plan for it and they have a collection in the area to come back with, so we are not running an empty trailer etc. But at times I try to beat the planners and make it home when possible 🤣 on Thursday if the collection was loaded quickly I would have made it back no problems, unfortunately they kept me there for nearly 2 hours and that’s what caused me to stay out 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just watching your video Darren. Have been over this motorway loads of times, but I don't think the highest point is 12,000ft. More like 1,200. Ben Nevis is only 4,000ft+. The sign does say its the highest motorway in England, but I do think you're correct on this part🤣. Nice to listen to your experiences. My thoughts are always "less haste, more speed". Watching your cooker. We used to have one of them when me and other half had an allotment. Could do a full English. Brilliant things to have😊. Where games are concerned. I just wish I could get to play my Half-Life, green, orange and blue. Had to give that game up as it only played on Windows 7. Brilliant game

Why would drivers (tramping) who work for a certain firm stop on the road outside the said firms depot to spend the night ? Why not park in the secure yard ? I see it all the time in my local area (Paisley ).

It could be if the depots are busy at night time with trunks etc the guys sleeping in the trucks will take up yard space that may be needed for the night shift
