What a wonderful character, a great way to teach young, and old visitors, all about our amazing history. Smashing guy. Have been a few times to the tower ,he makes me want to go there again, to catch up on what I missed
Our first tour was with Bill Callaghan who was fabulous but now retired. We have had several tours since with other Beefeaters who are all excellent. They work hard at their craft and are interesting and entertaining. If you visit the Tower be sure to take the tour. You will be well rewarded, it’s a great 45 mins. They bring the Tower and it’s associated British history to life! We look forward to another visit, hopefully.
I know this guy!!! He came to me, and told me to get my 2 year old son... he was in the gates with the ravens!!! And then, he had to go get him for me, because I could not get into the gate.
If my school history teachers had been anywhere near as good as these guys I'd have learned a lot more. Brilliant presentations by well versed presenters. I can' wait to visit Londonium again
Had to smile at "severance pay"...and later on love that kiddy... I think I like Bill Callaghan's commentary the best, but this is a wonderful (and very different), alternative...
It's amazing that these guys, all ex-servicemen, receive no formal training in how to present the script! (They just adapt it themselves.) Their memory and dramatic delivery might put many trained actors to shame! xx SF
CAPDude44 - indeed; and the princes disappeared in the summer of 1483; there's really only one person culpable in their disappearance and/or death and that's the bloke who took the crown and was supposed to keep them safe.
@@brontewcat Not a hunchback as you say. He suffered from scoliosis, severe curvature of the spine, as his skeleton showed when his skeleton showed when exhumed it Leicester in 2012. Shakespeare and many of his contemporaries didn't respect Richard, and so the "hunchback" myth was recorded for history.
To Jumped Up mart there is nothing wrong with calling the Yeoman of the Guard a BEEF EATER! Yeoman of the Guard is the official name and Beef Eater is a age old Nick Name used in Great affection by the Great British people.
@@Bucky1836Sorry but we beat you in round 2. 1812-1815. You signed a peace treaty before Andrew Jackson won the battle of New Orleans so it doesnt even count....sob sob.
Lord Eden - if you don't know what you're talking about, please allow google to be your friend and discover the difference for yourself between Yeoman & Beefeaters - then you wont sound so foolish ;)
Eric Taylor beefeater was a nickname but it grew on them and became the more common way of talking about them and you actually need the rank of at least WO2 and 22 years in her majesties armed forces
