Now this is the sort of content I'd like to see in a full book release, filled with more information to help build out all these areas and the pantheon
Ben Byrne has delivered, because Ben Byrne is an honourable man. Really, really stoked to see this clip drop after it was teased almost a year ago. Absolutely love that you’ve talked specifically to the factions and monsters from the lore to provide the raw ingredients for each location. Can’t wait for the next instalment.
Nice! in my game, upon the death of the Emperor, the artifacts largely sublimated and merged into a dread "Color Out of Space"-like fog that coalesced into the Beast. Remnants of the artifacts still exist but appear as mundane items that bring misfortune to whomever possesses them as the artifact moves from person to person on an unknowable quest to fulfill a prophecy.
This is a great sounding adventure. A real shame it won't be a Fable. Will we maybe see it as a future book? Love the interweaving of Great Beast and the 4 Legendary Artifacts, but really love that each quest provides it's own challenge allowing different party members to shine in each
This is awesome! I'm ten sessions into my own Grim Hollow campaign that involves one of the artifacts broken into pieces and while I have ideas, these videos will be amazing inspiration! Thank you!
Ben!! This is the best video GFG has done!! I’m biased because The Beast is the theme of my campaign but this was super helpful! I hope we will see more adventure content for GH in the future. I have all the Fables and Valikan books waiting via KS, but I would love anything for any region of the world! Keep up the good work, GFG is my fav gaming company
Super excited to get official stat blocks for the artifacts! I've homebrewed them myself but I'd rather have something made by the creators. Is there a chance we'll br able to get that next vid sooner than normal?
I really want to run this next! Question though, when is Aberration expecting to be delivered to backers? I'd imagine having the first or second session be the boardgame would be awesome!
Thanks for the check in! We did do Part 2 (linked) describing each Artefact and their full magic item properties. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KUsMzP_Fuj0.html
Oops, almost missed this comment! Yes. We made them for this video, with the rules linked in the description: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KUsMzP_Fuj0.html
It's a very classic formula and I love the style, but the is one thing that really stops me in my tracks. How could tier 3 enemy, archmage be looking for the artifacts, presumably for at least as long as the team, as he's spying on them, maybe even longer and not have even a single one? I get the eye is very useful here, but it's not like no one knows where some of the items are. There is a whole problem with sword wielder being known for example. After that this he is trying to challenge a groups that gathered all of those items, surpassing his achievements maybe even 4 to 0, showing in practice they are leagues more competent. With the cherry on top they posses all of those items and my guess is those are quite a powerful in their own right, outclassing him even more. Looks more like a joke antagonist then a real one as presented. For me to keep the character in any way serious in the campaign, he should be a rival, with his agents, or influence being introduced at second artifact at the latest and there should be a very real chance he could get them before the party. Maybe even make it a mystery at the start who are the players competing with. Probably adding something about artifacts being awaken when the Beast goes for the Eye, to explain why the mage doesn't have enough of a head start to have some items before the game starts. This way going to the castle is not an invitation, out of nowhere, that the group could and many probably would, simply ignore, as they have no business going, but probably a necessity to get the artifacts archmage got before them. OR Make the Archmage half automaton fused with the clockwork mansion, that is dormant, through what is going on, but a known authority on the artifacts, forcing the group to come to him to consult on something about that. This way visit stirs him to action and there can be a conflict where he is trying to snach the artifacts from the guests. This might be better as the Beast already should be kind of an active agent in the background, slowly shuffling to the items. I usually have around 5 active factions like that in a campaighn, but I know most prefer to avoid that level of complication PS: It's kind of a sickness of many D&D campaigns, villains being cardboard cutouts sitting at the end of their dungeons, waiting for the heroes politely and passively, instead of actually active, imposing characters in their own right.
be great if you had actually put this in the books because god forbid we be given that when we pay 100 bucks for the bundle. ps delete this and it just proves you can't take what is actual criticism as you never let us know in the books what they did other then vague details
