10:18 why not mess with your group even more by having the candles or the torches within the room that's lighting up the place flicker off and on. And when it does this the food on the table changes from organs and limbs that the demons eating to actual food that the ventures would eat.
Crikey! That's a bloody nightmare! You'd have to be a flamin' gallah to have a crack at this. Anyway, fair suck o' the sauce bottle, we're not here to f*ck spiders.
An audio atmospherics pack in a (currently) hidden stretch goal on the Kickstarter. With a few days left to back, there's still a possibility we could unlock it!
Ben, you are so good at this. 5e publishers should do zines like the osr and mork borg folk do. This is an amazing system agnostic, setting agnostic one shot!! Please publish this!! I love a classic "creepy village w/ strange goings-on" premise, and a collection of phobia-based encounters would be an incredible resource for DMs to have.
Thanks, that's really kind of you! While I just have fun making these style vids, we're definitely remembering which ones are popular and might be worth following through with, one day.
There is a big difference though if you resurrect someone with their consent (the soul is willing to return) and give them back their body and the choice to do whatever they want. OR if you raise them if they want or as mindless zombies with rotting flesh intent of eating any brains they can find.
Another source of inspiration: "Seven Samurai" (1957 movie). Alternatively, the bandits are secretly mercenaries hired by a lord to loot and pillage his rival's lands and then disappear before the lawful authorities can respond. After several months of attacks and the continued loss of life and income, political unrest explodes in a peasant revolt.
To be fair, the core fantasy of the Paladin is a light in the dark… the bane of evil and dark manipulation. I’d let the Paladin shine in earlier encounters, but once the party begin exploring the depths beneath the house that bleed into the Netherworld, certain divine class features may flicker and fade…
@@GhostfireGaming I love this! Maybe even get them questioning their oath? Have they been holding to it? Is their unrealised fear that they have somehow broken their oath without knowing?
Taking more inspiration from It. What if Beleth is the one transforming into these illusions, a different one each turn, and depending on the phobia that's currently active he'd obtain different abilities. Each phobia changes the environment around you. You can only attempt to overcome your fear if Beleth is currently transformed as your fear, and once you do he loses the ability to change into that form. Love the video btw, already started asking around to see if my friends want to do a last minute halloween oneshot haha.
Using their Phobias to construct the dungeon, reminds me of a "Nightmare Fairy" character I made that does similar things with Illusions. Phantasmal Force specifically, allowing that spell, if the DM allows it, to allow it to draw from the victim's own fears to make it work properly. In other words, sew the seeds of fear, describe a scene, and if allowed, just vaguely describe the fears and horrors creeping out so your DM fills in the blanks. Could work the other way around the DM doing this to a Player Character, and allowing the player to explain some of the things they see that their character is afraid of, giving table insight to how their character works. Conversely I have a little Warlock Fey that is just a really good Illusionist and uses it to either Enrapture targets, or mislead them. No nightmares or horrors, only fun and entertainment.
Currently not planned, as this was written specifically for this video (and Halloween). But we do pay attention to which of these adventure videos fans like, so it's possible!
A concept for a magic item shop I had was Basically the shopkeeper is essentially just the kind of guy who’d know where you could find such things Either artefacts themselves or rare ingredients He’d tell the party where to go to find these ingredients and artefacts for a fee. Possibly the fee would be something greater than gold. Like trading with your own magic items Perhaps he could be a guy who can get you whatever magic items you want, while the shopkeepers have them on hand but it’s a select few magic items. Never really liked the catalogue of magic items thing. These are items which defy reality by existing. They shouldn’t be all that common.
Frankenstein is someone who was super excited to play in this game but scheduling conflicts meant he could hardly play. But he’s too tied to the main villain to be cut so he just does nothing until he can play
The worldbuilding in this series continues to surprise, with the induction of an entirely new fantasy language that hints at a reality unknown to all but a handful of blokes
