Love the breakdown and the vids. The FminMaj7/Ab would be part of the C#minor key centre though (it's probably more like a G#7[#5] chord - like the dominant going back to the tonic).
hell yeah! by the way, steve, i have rewatched your video about compound time signatures - and asked myself "if this is possible, why use other time signatures such as 5/8 or etc.?" i cant wrap my head around it, but if im understanding it correctly.. you set an odd time sig, then you subdivide it to make it even odd-sounding? will that be easier to understand? so for example, a 4/4 will have 8 quarter notes thanks to compound time sig.. im sorry i cant wrap my head around it 😭 but anyways, i guess compound time sig is just a "technique" per se and not on the same level as time signatures if you get what i mean. so for ex. 5/4 will now have 10 quarter notes.. PLS STEVE AM I STUPID 😭
Hello! Apologies. I missed this comment. The time signature is a steady pulse (meter) that's always going on behind anything you play. So anything you subdivide will still have the steady pulse going on behind it. I'd say try to think of subdivision as where you are placing the accent along that time signature. It could be on one of the main beats or it could be anywhere in between. I wouldn't stress about it too much, and suggest focusing on expermenting with subdivisions to find some cool little ideas. Hope that helps! Check out the book Music Notation (can't remember the author). It's an old book but it explains this concept in better detail than I can.
Immediately sounds like a perfect clean Telecaster tone: sparkly quacky, sweet & articulate with an ability to get crunchy but stay defined note-wise. That middle position on 2 pickup guitars is awesome for rhythms, reason I've put a neck-on switch on a lot of strats to get this position , but dang this just proves I NEED a Telecaster! The covered neck pickup, wound-up bridge, and fixed bridge plate just 'do things' that can't be duplicated 😉The chords remind me of Pink Floyd's 'Dogs' Prog lives on In Math. These are refreshing changes that both lull you and grab your ear with their dissonance
