Run 2000s stuff for the younger crowd, but keep the early 80s for us old farts. Many thanks.

It was a pleasure to come up to Heaton Lodge and bring the Marshalling Yard Tower Lights. They were certainly a challenge to do but one I kinda of enjoyed......yup, I'm crazy. Now, I look forward to making Healey Mills Diesel Depot for the extension. Good luck with the Crowfunding, a great idea, especially with the bonus of some free tickets to see it in person when it does the rounds and happy to add my contribution back into the build. Many thanks again Simon for giving Railway Laser Lines the opportunity to be involved. Steve

Blue grey all the way (see what I did there 🤔😲🙄🤭🤭) - for many years that was ignored by many modellers. But I understand your rationale. The mid 1990s to the early 2000s were a plethora of liveries, like the forming of the big four or BR in 1948, or even corporatisation (1966 onwards)✌️👍😊💜

How will they layout it self earn money. I assume tours only. Will it permanently have a fixed home. Great work. ❤❤

Yes it’s been out 3 times previously on tour. It earns money by charging visitors to see it. It won’t be part of any exhibition going forward as the set up time of 5 days can’t ever be met. Therefore it will go to venues booked by me. It does also have its own home Thanks again! Simon

Hi Simon. A constructive comment for you, not a criticism. The power station turbine hall you refer to (21:23) is the boiler house, precipitators and FGD plant at West Burton Power Station. I worked there for approx 30 years! If you're looking to build West Burton Turbine Hall, its the one hidden behind the boiler house. The large flat roofed area behind is the 400kV Substation building. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you require any help with telling you more about buildings, details, functioning , train movements etc, I'd be more than pleased to help. All the best.

@@britainsbiggestmodelrailwa1428 No probs. Coal fired power stations, early 2000s were subject to LCPD (hence intro of FGD). This introduced different train configurations (limestone in, gypsum out). Of course there still remained coal (1000t delivery/hr weekday) and periodic heavy oil in and ash and dust out (although come early 2000s the volume of ash and dust train movements significantly dropped off. Ash via road, dust diverted to local settling ponds. A good example of this is the Drax nature reserve). As for buildings. Separate coal and limestone reception buildings on separate lines (in order to accomodate simultaneous delivery). The limestone reception building also doubled up as the gypsum loading dock too. Separate line and dust bunker. All the best.

Your crowd funding idea is good and like the idea of getting the people who build the frames ect, ect. A Suggestion if I may the Chemical plant buildings, Power Station cooling Towers and building and Hopper house. Have you thought about scaling it down to 1:176 and do these as kits for the public as a revenue stream. Also getting people who worked at the Mill, Drivers, Guards, Signalmen to talk about the working life at the mill as part of the project to emerse people even more. Just a few thoughts.

@@britainsbiggestmodelrailwa1428 Absolutely.. I often visited steam preservation lines and always headed for corridor coaches with the small seating areas, your bum and back sunk into the old sprung “horsehair”? cushions… a wonderful experience and a throwback to what I call “proper train travel”…👍🏻🇬🇧

We used to call Dmu`s Bug units, because like bugs they were everywhere, the Transpennine units we nicknamed `Bubblebugs` because of the wrap around cab windows. Just a bit of useless information from my younger years i thought i would share.
@spongebobgrumpypants6862
@spongebobgrumpypants6862 Месяц назад
As teenagers we used to call DMU's "bog-cans". I don't know where the name came from, but it was a derogatory term as me and my spotting mates preferred to see locos. However, I found seeing the trans-pennine units quite exciting as they were a little different and only rarely (in my experience) came through Leyland, my home spotting town.

Great video Simon, not sure about the 2000s era , Healey Mills was derelict by then and the rot had set in with the lineside. I've been a driver nearly 40 years on freight and 80s were far more interesting, The modern railway might have more colours but is absolutely soulless Cheers Russ

@@britainsbiggestmodelrailwa1428 There is no reason why they can't do it,just a matter of spending a bit more money.If they're going to knock it down anyway why not disassemble it and take it to where it can be reassembled.They still have to pay for transport,it's just a BS excuse.
