I think biggest issue with most critiques in this CBT2 are many ppl include CCs unaware the impact of reworking 90% story means. while it great to show dev seriousness but it eventually have some trade off too. I wont surprise if they use half of ressources to reworking story and another half to upgrade the game from CBT1 in such limited time. which is why we can see here devs prioritize finishing the story to certain extent and cover the ground of game for preparation on CBT2 over putting the fine details. also they prolly waiting for CBT2 feed back so they doesnt need to rework too much again which is why explain the lack of cutscenes and voices
Oh, as a game dev myself I FULLY understand the amount of work it takes to completely rewrite 90% of the story. It isn't only the script, its the script, VAs, cutscenes, questlines, sometimes even mechanics. In the end it is just: The devs make the CBT to ASK for feedback based on teh content they provide you in this test - and that's what we are doing. That doesn't mean we don't or can not respect the amount of effort and work that went it the CBT and hence also rewriting the story since the last one. But if there is something to critique and they actively ask for it, I don't think it is wrong providing them with that. As I said in the video, some of that stuff is nitpicky though, for sure.
@@iamrivenous of course giving feedback are needed. I myself wish they change a bit earlier part like make crownless talk again like in CBT1, making the cutscenes more intense and less talking until rovers get his/her health check up in city. and some other stuffs. the issue are the lack of acknowledgment "reworking 90% story" impact in lot of these videos to the point its not mentioned at all. not everyone follow WW progressions so not everyone will know this fact. when CCs complaint about story, cutscenes or voices, those who dont know about rework their impression will pretty weak, thinking it mid, lacking and that much is devs can do in story departments. those who know the rework and IMPACT of it will have better impression and overall idea, understand certain part will lacking cuz devs do doing lot of stuffs in short amount of times. the different impression will pretty big from knowing dev do rework or not but too many CCs undermining this important fact.
exactly thats the pt of beta it show first the core of the game story-combat... first if the devs reserve good feedback then they polish it without wasting money making a vd about missing texts is stupid
This game indeed has huge boots to fill, wishing kuro games all the best, hope they can maintain genshin's regular update schedule and powercreep doesn't become a serious issue in the future.
@@doommaker4000in pgr (kuro previous game) there's a system called "Leap" which buffs some of the characters that got powercreept. They add a new gameplay and a new effect to their skills as well, making them more fun to play and relatively strong if you don't have the character that powercreept it. Hopefully they implement this as well in later patches when the game releases
It was stated in the Dev note that many voicelines, text, and lip syncing stuff are still working in progress and are not completed. So I'm sure they're just missing at the moment due to that.
PGR, kuros other game, does things right and wrong. but doesnt every single game? no game is going to be perfect, its going to please some, and annoy others. From a hardcore players standpoint and someone who can be nitpicky, so far what i have seen is fantastic. the lack of enemies in the overworld need more density, but not to the extent that youre constantly hindered when trying to travel far distances and have to get aggro'd into fights overly often. The ui can be simple and effective. as a drummer, less is more. so if it works, it works. nothing needs to be overly complicated or frilly to be "good." Like i said before, some will appreciate the nuances while others will bash into them and continue to make comparisons to other games. But just like in music, and modern music takes inspiration from their predecessors. Theres only so much a designer can do on their own before having to seek inspiration to spark new ideas. High hopes for this game. and even if it comes with some bugs or some gripes, i believe it will still be a fun game to play. especially with the fluidity of that combat.
yeah combat is fun then you realize it took 30+ min just to do dailies because how tanky the enemy is if they made the enemy weak then the combat won't shine like genshin well genshin never marketed as combat focused game but WW does
Amazing video, mentions all the important points as well as being summarized and entertaining I just hope the music is good.. I find Genshin's and Star Rail's music on a whole new level, but I am looking forward to seeing what WW's music has to offer
Great review, pointing out the pros and cons. Good hopes for Kuro Games. The gameplay doesn't seem to be 120hz, is it RU-vid or is the in-game settings set at 60hz?
While I'm not in the CBT I do watch a good amount of gameplay vids, streams, updates and one thing that immediately caught my attention is how lackluster the SFX are when you are attacking and hitting an enemy as it feels like it has no impact. If you've played PGR, I'm sure you can attest how amazing and immersive the combat SFX is though hopefully the current SFX is just a placeholder and they're bound to change it once the game actually releases.
Great review! Important points shown, really good video. One thing that somehow bothers me watching CBT 2 is the game font, i wish it was "cleaner" or smaller/different in a sense. It feels a bit rushed, but that is probably due to it looking ok in chinese or something
Good video. Especialy the fact that you seems aware that a lot of complain are just things that can be easily fixed and mostly a basic problem of infinished game on a beta test. I'm not sure that the wording of "competing with Genshin" is a good idea, not because its not the case but mostly because sadly part of the audience don't understand the idea behind it and think that a game need to make more money than Genshin to compete with, when in fact the competition is more about behing able to have enough interest for this type of players, the one that like open world anime gacha games. Even if they just make 10m per month or 20m its fine (well i guess they want more ofc), its mean it is appealing to the tarket they choose and that it is sustainable. For me for exemple, not having all the casual players coming to the game is not a bad thing.
If the games colour palette looks washed out or dull try turning down the in game brightness to 0 for some reasons it fixes the colours without affecting visibility. Makes the game look a little more like Genshin
I think a good sum of Genshin players will check this game out regardless. I'm a huge Genshin fan and I'm super excited to get my hands on this game once it comes out. Genshin lacks any real challenge besides spiral abyss but that gets boring after a while and that's literally all we have. We've been complaining about this for years now and I'm certain I'm not the only player looking for an alternative at this point. Of course not every ones gonna stick around but I think this is what a lot of players are looking for in a game. We'll have to see but I have high hopes :3
6:31: Other CCs like Smack and Tectone have pointed out same issues as those you mentioned that needs improvement. 7:40: Damn right. No More MintPicking. P.s: Nice vids. WW community needs critics like you to further improve the game. I don't want CCs that are silent and eat whatever Sheesh devs give them like Genshin CCs.
Seriously now what did Genshin ever take from Btw?? The grass??? hate to point it out but that is common in many games ... The glider ???? again Btw was not the first one to even implement that ... The open world ??? Sure like that one was exclusive .... The wifus ??? Ohhh w8 never mind this point ... IK IK they copied the Gotcha !!! Next thin you gonna say is that Covid was that casue of Genshin's succes .... want to
I personally don't subscribe to the whole 'genshin killer' thing, ultimately every game is going to have a selling point. To me Genshin is like an archaeology game with story added in, Wuthering Waves on the hand will have something that will draw people to it plus if someone doesn't like a certain genre then it's going to take a lot for them to like something from that genre. For me I do like the more vibrant colors of Genshin however I also like the overall vibe of WW it gives Nier Automata energy. Since monsters are needed to build characters I hope they do add more since the monsters you absorb seems pretty random and they all have a random 'element' and stats so you have to go around and fight more monsters in order to get what you need. It does compel you to explore but I can see it getting a bit annoying for certain people, however it's nice that you're rewarded with one after reaching a certain point in the story, if they also do that often then it'll make things easier for people. I wonder if that means they could give out event exclusive monsters, that'd be neat. (I forgot what it's technically called so I just put down element)
The characters look alright, they aren't as iconic as genshin impact or honkai star rail. The color palette doesn't help the characters shine. But if u prefer the asthetic then it's a preferrence
@@cotacachi12 Genshin indeed gas iconic designs but Honkai is generic as hell. All the characters there could easily fit in Symphogear, Neptunia, Phantasy Star, Xenoblade or any other "scifi" anime franchise. But I gotta agree that Wuwa is lacking a bit in this regard, mainly because it doesn't commit to a theme. Genshin is all about the Korean and Chinese fantasy aesthetic. Wuwa doesn't decide if it wants to be fantasy or dark sci fi like PGR.
@@cotacachi12 I disagree. I think what they should have done instead is embrace the "mature" aspect of their characters. Make the designs more like 90s anime like Cowboy Bepop or Ghost in the Shell. That would sure make their characters stand out not only in the gacha market but in the anime world in general, since everyone is doing the "moe with fanservice" style.
I agree that it does have some features that both genshin and ww share. But that doesn't make it a copy same thing with Genshin and breath of the wild.
I think the terms copy or clone and inspired by are pretty interchangebly - except the first one often has a negative connotation attached to, at least when talking about games. I don't think it is a bad thing. Ofc, when taking what another game did well and using it in your own game you have to add your own (unique) mechanics to make it stand out from other games you got inspired by. And IMO Wuthering Waves feels extremely similar to Genshin but nonetheless is unique enough to stand out.
Genshin player will try the game, realise it has a skill ceiling and leave, hence 90% are extrem casuals, that play genshin for story/lore/worldbuilding The moment genshin players touch something that requires a little brain they will leave. best example is Hsr, its harder than genshin, most genshin player left it, bcs they have to think what they are doing, they cant just button smash.
You know that the two games are completely different from each other, right? Why would a player who likes to travel in the open world like to fight turn-based enemies in a single room? It's a shame that you've made Genshin players such a big issue in your mind. Go to therapist.
@@aquadactyl136 yup, true I forget to point that out aswell. Still no reason to be rude? Still doesnt make the fact i stated unvalid. That majority of genshin players are hardcore casual and the genshin tryhard base is way way smaller than the other. The 5% of the geshin playerbase who like to tryhard etc. Will like WW, while the other 95% will not bcs ww expects people to know what they are doing and punishes people who dont know what they are doing. Also why doyou assume I am not playing genshin? Kinda funny, I am a Big hoyoverse and Kurogames fan I play PGR, Hi3rd, HSR, GGZ, Gi and will play WW.
@@aquadactyl136it is evident genshin players make a lot of problems tho. Remember google classroom? I know you'd love to forget that but people won't. Even after 3 years they're not improving at all.
I agree most of it Character is close to forgettable and story don't give much impact or importance in the story. Music is alright but really bland and not intriguing another to remember. if you go to certain village or place the music don't connect with the scenery Most of the time when i watch CBT2 gameplay of the open world i don't feel the connection and reason to give importance to the world... World building can is key to give me reason to pull the characters in their banner. I know its CBT2 but i have high expectation and doing nice combat and all is not enough to fancy most gamer girls preference. Echoes is rather looking very meh and ugly give me less incentive to catch them.. why catch Shiny when they look like monster from lovecraft books or SCP... I was hope more creative monster and unique mobs to catch... Catch boss is alright but i don't feel the connection why i can transfer to monster it like watching bleach or Naruto with inside beast issues. all i will say they might turn off sum player who like something at least fantasy or unique monster to catch,,,, That why Palworld, Pokemon or Digimon is unique in catch them all genre Another concern is catching monster in so dead and empty landscape... I suggest give more variety in are and drop some easter eggs or lore bits for gamers to speculate what is to come.... Lets the Lorist community discuss what WuWa world building is all about... Give me reason to share to my friends that the music and scenery is awesome. If not it will just be a game i will play 2-3 month and stop playing similar to many other gacha games life cycle. I have high expectation on Wuwa i dont care end game.... Give me a reason to contnue to log in the game and spend money. if they fail to deliver it might be a rocky start
The game feels like an open world JRPG. Jenshin did not invent that. Pretty tired of “CCs” acting like the only game in the world to do what Jenshin does is Jenshin. All they bought to the table is the trash gambling mechanic Only Jenshin simp scum will compare this game to Jenshin. The rest of us can play both and enjoy them both for the things they do best
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you missunderstood my point in the video: Every game copies aspects from other games, but given how there aren't many actual competitors in the open-world RPG gacha genre, all new games will be compared to the "golden standard" of games, which in this case is Genshin. Same thing for WoW. Every MMMORPG will be compared to WoW in some regards. WuWa just looks VERY similar to genshin in terms of visuals: Pretty anime girls/boys, basically the same UI and so on. It WILL inevitably be compared to genshin, but as I said towards the end of my video, there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing one or another or both. They have different target audiences with genshin being more casual and vibrant and WuWa being more action-combat heavy and dark-toned. Maybe I misunderstood your comment, lmk if thats the case
Be grateful of what we have and stop complaining you and the others who are complaining and have a bit negativity on it they are doing their best so be grateful 😤
Giving constructive critique ain't a bad thing IMO. As I said in the video, the game looks fantastic so far, but that doesn't mean it cannot be even better.
You sound like a typical Jenshin simp. Wanting the game to be better is a good thing for everyone. Your attitude will not helo the game, Kuro or the players. Go back to mint picking
