***Please Read Friends*** Since posting this video I've learned these 3 particular stamp sets are unauthorized knock offs of Stampin' Up stamp sets. I spoke with a Stampin' Up representative who confirmed it's design theft. For that reason I won't be using these 3 knockoff stamps sets anymore on my channel. If you like these designs, please support Stampin Up, not Dollar Tree. And bonus, Stampin Up has beautiful coordinating dies for these sets. The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
For anyone who has difficulty getting a good stamped image with DT or SU polymer stamps.... It helps to put your paper on a flexible stamp mat before stamping. This helps get a complete image from the stamp.
I have purchased stamps from Amazon (for more than 1.25) and have discovered that I lightly sand them with an Emory board (like you mentioned), clean them, then first apply versamark, then the colored dye based ink and they work really well. Just thought I’d share that 😊
Putting aside the copyright thing. I found your video really helpful. I have lots of acrylic stamps thst come free with magazines. Seeing the difference that using pigment ink made to the quality of the print was a real eye opener. Thank you.
I use a white eraser on any new stamps I buy no matter the price before I use them. Works every time. Always wipe the stamps on a piece of cloth or use a small brush to remove any eraser crumbs if any are left behind. Hope this helps. Love your tips. Thank you.
Often times, companies purchase designs so you will see the same designs over the years being released by different companies. I say this because I picked up some of these and realized the dragonfly image set is the exact same as an older Stampin up set I have. The size seems a little different between the two but otherwise, they are the same. I don’t know if the images were purchased or if they were copied but I think it’s important to recognize companies buy images all the time without purchasing exclusive rights to them. The same goes with metal dies. This is not to say they are not copying protected images - just trying to help everyone understand that in some cases - no images were stolen. Thanks for sharing your experience! I need to give the other sets I got a try and see how they do. Did you try stazon? It coats the images - I use it on make brand ones too ;)
Yes, I would buy and use the stamps. The set that was the “crummiest “ I would use, however any of those floral dyes I would not have as a single stamp, or in the front of the grouping. Thank you very much for using your time and money and emotional involvement with these stamps. This was the first of your videos that I have watched and I look forward to seeing more. Again, thank you. Susan Thompson
Hi Jessikate, I'm new to your channel. Loved it and all the great tips on the difference the inks make. I'm a retired SU demo as well and I can totally understand the terms you used and also the emery board trick, I've done this to my SU stamps as well Poly and regular rubber and it won't damage them as long as you do it gently and carefully. I agree about the knock offs and DT should have more integrity as they are known by but this time they made a mistake and will most likely recall them as soon as they get wind of it. When I first saw that they had new ones I rushed out to get them and traveled very far as my local DT does not carry a lot of the new items as quick as the other states. I'm in New York and traveled to New Jersey to a mega DT to actually find the new stamp sets and found only about eleven of the new ones (not the big flowered one you were disappointed with) but some others and was very disappointed with about four or five out of the eleven I was able to find. I guess with DT is't hit or miss but as you said, for a $1.25 plus tax you're still getting a good deal especially with the sentiments if only. Thank you again for all the good heads up on everything. Now that I found your channel I will tune in more often and I'm sure I will find wonderful ideas and learn more from your sharing. God bless you and thank you again, great job! :)
Welcome to the channel, Ida! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. You are right, all of my local DTs have since removed the copycat SU stamps sets. And I definitely agree that gentle is the way to go with the emery board. I've only used it on acrylic, so thanks for the tip! Happy crafting!!💛
I’m going to throw this out here. Yes, it’s a Stampin Up dupe. But it wasn’t designed in a vacuum. Dragonflies became popular as a fashion statement back around 1999. It was popular in jewelry and home fashion (pillows, fabric, artwork, etc.) I’ve googled pics of dragonflies and saw numerous with the vein details shown in this stamp. So it was most likely copied from pics that had been out there a long time. Designers often piggyback on trends that are already popular. The sentiments and fonts should have been changed though. I don’t know many ppl that can afford Stampin Up stamp sets that most likely they will get tired of after a few cards. Dollar Tree makes crafting affordable for regular people.
Unfortunately, I recently learned these are knock offs of Stampin Up designs. :( The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
I knew the minute I saw them they were Stamping Up knock offs, but I bought one to compare. The stamping is no where near the same quality.i think these are acrylic and SU is photpolymer. Thank you for your follow up posts!
Yes, this was definitely a case of you get what you pay for. I love SU stamps. Once I found out they were knockoffs it put a bad taste in my mouth and I had to share that info with everyone.
Hi, (I hope this isn't a dumb question!) I hope you can help me. I understand that pigment ink just looks better, more depth, richer and more vibrant, but honestly, in a normal world, how long do these things take to dry? I bought some craft smart inks from Michaels because I'm just learning how to do this, but it's been 2 days and my images still smear. Is this normal? I went to Joann's, there were a couple of sets of Momento dye inks on sale so I bought them and they dry within minutes. The pigments looks great, but they are trying my patience! Am I supposed to put something on them to make them dry?
That's a great question. I have a couple of pigment inks, but I generally prefer dye inks. Like you said, pigment inks take longer to dry and I can get impatient. For most situations, dye inks work just as well as pigment inks. If you do use pigment inks, you can use a heat gun to heat set the inks to help them dry faster. Sorry it took me so long to respond! Thanks for being so patient! 💛
Thank you, Meloday. And welcome to the channel! 💛Unfortunately, I recently learned these are knock offs of Stampin Up designs. :( The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
Your welcome. Some Dollar Trees do have stamps, but its crazy how differentstores carry different stuff. Its like treasure hunting. Unfortunately, after posting this video, I learned these particular sets were knockoffs of Stampin' Up sets. Most stores have pulled them. But some DTs do have other, non knockoff stamp sets.
Yes, unfortunately, since posting the video I learned these are knock offs of Stampin' Up designs. :( The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
The flowers with the bees looks like it might be Hollyhocks. I’m surprised at how well yours turned out. I need to buy some pigment inks. Thank you so much for an excellent set of testing! 😊❤️🇨🇦. I think there’s always going to be very similar stamps world wide to every business copyright. But, that’s just my opinion, not wanting to be rude or insulting in any manner.
Yes, unfortunately, since posting this video I learned these are knock offs of Stampin Up designs. :( That's why I changed the description and pinned a comment about it The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
So no one can make another dragonfly stamp? No one can make one that says “Happy Birthday?” I have stamps from a bunch of companies! And I loved these stamps!
@@jenniferd264 Anybody can do a dragonfly or Happy Birthday stamp- the general ideas are public domain. It's the specific look of these stamps- ie the veining in the dragonfly wings, the specific fonts, and the overall concept of each set - that are Stampin Up's intellectual property and which Dollar Tree (or its supplier) stole.
when your broke you can make art with anything and if your an artist you can make great art with anything i like the stamps i have gotten i use them all the time they work in a pinch
Yes, using what you have definitely forces you to get creative. Especially when supplies are limited. That's how some of my favorite projects start. Happy crafting! 💛
They stamped fine, but unfortunately, I recently learned these are knock offs of Stampin Up designs. :( The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
Thanks for your review and your explanation about the different results with dye and pigment inks. Hoping these are available in Canada soon. New subscriber.
Your welcome. Unfortunately, I recently learned these are knock offs of Stampin Up designs. :( You can try reaching out to an SU demonstrator to get the original sets. The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
I have purchased some of Dollar Tree stamps….they’re ok, but as you say, they’re cheap acrylic and the imaging is not very crisp. While I agree that DT shouldn’t be copying anyone’s stamps….there is a gray area here. Common shapes and objects aren’t copyright protected. If a design is especially stylized, then there may be an infringement. Update: I looked it up: Stampin’ Up is suing DT for copyright infringement. See my 2 nd comment if interested. Wow. 😮
Yes! I pinned a comment on the video and updated the description box with that info and info about the SU originals once I learned they were unauthorized copies.

Its crazy how different store have such different stuff. I have to go across town for the good DT. Unfortunately, after posting this video, I learned these particular sets were knockoffs of Stampin' Up sets. They were pulled from a lot of stores. But if you searched FB groups for retired Stampin Up products you can find some of these sets.

Hi, I’m new to your channel & love your comparison & tips! I had no idea Dollar Tree’s stamps looked this pretty!!! I read your added comment about these particular ones being knock offs of Stampin’ Up-thank you for listing the names of the Stampin’ Up sets, I’ll check them out with my demonstrator! 💝 New subscriber here! 😊
I agree with the large flowers. I do not like them to much shading. The rest are beautiful. Just bought mine. Hoping They come out with Capital letters to go with the small ones. Can't wait to use mine. Thank you for showing different inks.
My store didn't have the alphas. Unfortunately, I recently learned the three designs I had are knock offs of Stampin Up designs. 😞 The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
Also there were two more clear stamp crafter squares sets on Temu and they had the metal dies to go with them. That’s totally amazing to me these are stamping up dupes.😊
I was interested in getting a few stamps for the purpose of coloring them using watercolors. I learned that to use with watercolor paints you need to use pigment based inks. Or the image can run. However if you want to color using alcohol markers. You should use dye based ink. Its so complicated
It definitely can get confusing! That's why I have 2 black ink pads. Though now lots of companies make black inks that work for both! I haven't tried one yet, but I've heard good things.
You read my mind! I have a card idea for these stamps and it involves heat embossing. Hopefully I'll have some crafty time this weekend to give it a go. Tfw!!💛
Since my last reply to your comment I learned that these 3 sets are knockoffs of Stampin Up sets. So I won't be making more videos with them. But generally speaking for acrylic stamps, sticky inks like VersaFine work well. Like pigment inks they are able to better grip the surface of the stamp. I've tried it with other acrylic stamps in the past and heat embossing has worked well with them.

Yes. Unfortunately it wasn't until a few days after posting the video I learned they were Stampin' Up knock offs. That's when I put a pinned comment on the video and updated the description box with details about the name of the Stampin Up stamp sets. It's also why I don't use these stamp sets. I know all the DTs in my area recalled almost as soon as they put them out.
Cheaper silicone stamps need to be conditioned a lot more than quality photopolymer clear stamps. You can take off the factory coating by stamping with ink, but a lot of people buff the stamp with an eraser or a nail file buffer. Some folks lightly use a nail file, but be careful. Others wash the stamp with stamp cleaner then buff/dry them with a micro cloth. I’ve used all 3 methods and they usually help a lot.
Oh I've never heard of the microfiber cloth technique. I'll have to give it a go with another stamp set. Unfortunately, I recently learned these are knock offs of Stampin' Up designs. 😞 The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home *Dragonfly Garden *Flowing Flowers
I will buy these stamps.. i have purchased other dollar tree stamps and had no problems.. they allow me to purchase stamps at a very REASONABLE price and i love them !!
I just wanted to let you know, unfortunately, I recently learned these are knock offs of Stampin Up designs. :( The original Stampin' Up stamp sets are: *Honeybee Home
Just picked these up today and love it. The ink I used came from daiso. I actually got into stamping while trying to hunt for daiso stamps but decided to test dollar tree ones in the meantime. Wish I could find more plant/floral stamps! They weren’t available at my dollar tree unfortunately
I found it at the far away dollar tree. The fleur and horse one were glued to its backing. When I tried to remove it from the backing, the backing came off onto the stamps.
I have bought stamps from Dollar Daze, they were okay...but I buy sentiment dies, Creative Expressions brand for a couple bucks. So I buy 2 or 3 of the same sentiment for about 5 or 6 dollars and cut multiples at a time..
💛Thank you, glad you enjoyed! Yes, unfortunately, after posting the video I learned they were all Stampin' Up knockoffs. I added a pinned comment to the video and updated the video description to let folks know the names of the original SU sets and encourage them to reach out to an SU demonstrator. I also spoke with a SU representative and my local DT store has since pulled the SU knockoff stamp sets.

Glad I read the previous comment, as I noticed right away that they were Stampin' Up sets. Can't believe that a company would steal art. I hope SU sues them.
