In Episode 28 Bugsy only has an hour to get a quick fish in amongst a busy city schedule in Sydney. Bugsy is targeting Yellowtail Kingfish on topwater lures and bonito on metal jigs. It is a fast and furious pelagic session with some not bad results. If land based lure fishing is your thing, enjoy the vid. Remember to stay safe on the rocks. Only fish when the conditions allow for you to do so safely. Wear a lifejacket, appropriate footwear including cleats / spikes, wear light clothing you would be confident swimming in, tell someone where you are going to be, fish with friends and look out for each other. Remember to take your rubbish home with you. We are lucky to have such beautiful wild areas and it is our responsibility to keep them pristine. Thank you for watching

Great Bonny mate. You seem to be a pretty well rounded, well informed fisherman. What do you know about this? A couple years ago, or so Rockit kit said in a vid of his. If you catch a fish from the sea, after gutting and processing it, wash in sea water, don’t wash under a tap. Likewise, if catch something from fresh, wash in freshwater. So this would, in coastal areas make the filleting tables pretty redundant. Is this important?
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, a few chefs have taught me this about saltwater fish over the years. One reason is because of osmosis where the cells of the flesh absorb the freshwater, changing the taste. I try to clean my fish in clean ocean water on location where possible. Guru seafood chef Josh Niland spoke about this on a podcast recently

Hi mate. Nice vid, thanks for sharing. Looks like you were out there on Thursday? (I could see Sam the Seal in the foreground). You should've had a crack on the kayak - I was out in the morning and got a 71 and a 67 (plus some rats) under the bait schools but a bit further North along the cliffs. Thanks again.
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
Yeah, would've been good to be out there on the yak. Unfortunately, I only had an hour to spare though so this was my only option and way better than not fishing. Stoked to hear you got a couple. Cheers mate

Nice work! What size reel and line do recommend for the Daiwa light rock special? Or what setup would you recommend for around 5 or 6 hundred?? Mainly chasing pelagic species off the rocks
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
Thanks Kaitlyn, I think you are on the right track. Something in the PE2-4 range. 9' is okay for minnows, stick baits and poppers. But if you want to do some shore jigging too something around the 10' range will give you better action. As for reel, a 6000 size with PE3 braid would be good. I use the Daiwa 12 strand braid. Really like it. And my Stradic SW has been great. Oh and 40lb or 60lb leader

Hey mate really enjoying your videos! When do you like to fish Bonito? High or low tide? Any other factors you consider, Also got any tips on winter fishing?
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
Thanks mate, great to hear. Bonito... I find the sunrise bite is often the best. Those first rays of sunshine seem to set them off. Tide changes too. And sometimes they just bite all day. Winter fishing can be slow. Luderick and drummer are a good target. There are still bonito but you really have to work for them. Kingfish too

Good fishing mate. In which area of Sydney do you go fishing? I recently moved to Sydney and would like to know of good spots to go fishing. I'm living on the Northern beaches. Cheers
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
Hey mate, I fish both on the Northern Beaches and south of the harbour bridge. Northern Beaches has lots of good fishing. The pelagics are slowing down now. Time to focus on luderick and drummer. Try Curl Curl on a safe day

I love youtube fishing videos, the fishes never freak out, they behave even during measuring, no lures stuck on the ledge, no people getting washed in by the swell, no territorial rats kicking you out from the spot you reached first ... just the world how it should be. I figured out where this is though :P See you on the ledge one of these days ;) Maybe looking at those side waves, it may be the time I catch a rip tide to tonga tonga. 😜

Haha... yes, it is a perfect world in this 10 mins. It was actually a really nice hour on the ledge. Well worth the effort. See you out fishing one day Davide and make sure you say hello

It's a seal. Important to keep your distance if you see one. At least 10m away when they are in water and at least 40m away when they are on land. Further if there is a pup. They need to get their rest
