Wait a moment..... P-O-L-Y= 4 B-R-I-D-G-E= 5 D-E-A-T-H= 5 S-T-R-A-N-D-I-N-G= 9 5+4= 9 5/5= 1 9/9= 1 1+1= 2 Is it actually Death Stranding 2?! Can I commit seppuku rn?
“How much wood and steel do you need for this bridge?” *ALL OF IT* Cue scenes of bridge workers devastating the surrounding area for resources like Isengard orks.
I remember playing bridge building flash games back as a 15 year old, so I wasn't expecting Sophie to have any issues... I was wrong in the best way possible. We all love you Soph, that's the important part.
This is... astounding. I kinda wonder what an actual architect would think, seeing this; it's either gotta be absolutely hilarious or heartbreaking, but both are funny anyway
Sophie: "My friend actually dared me to play this game, one: because I'm very stupid" *Oh come now, it's polybridge how bad could you be?* 6:49 *hrmm...*
11:22 By giving them simultaneous fatal seizures from pure horror at the geometrically-challenged abominations you are creating? Also, triangles with three sides and three joints are strong. Floppy, misshapen things with four sides and four corners that just happen to have been drawn in a triangle for their starting positions are... significantly less strong.
Sophie's voice and light heartedness is recognized by the medical community as a form of therapy. I just want her to read/tell me stories. Is that a Patreon perk?
Triangles are more stable because their sides are less likely to break or something. A square's sides are alot more likely to break cuz not all sides are connected to each other directly if that makes sence. Plus triangles use less materiels so it's more cost effective. Seems school isn't that useless, now i know useless bridge trivia.
Sophie The Engineer: Soooo good news is the bridge works! Treasurer: How much this time? Sophie The Mathematician: Uhhh I think we hit another zero at the end of it, not sure. But I mean we got it done, right? Treasurer: ...sure... *starts sobbing*
When I get home for the summer I’m going to get my engineer of a father to play this game. I’ll re-comment what he thinks if there are enough people who care.
Sophie, I love how you can provide intellectual, thought out digests on the psychology and artistic interpretation of narrative in video games and you can hit the world with 3:56. You're an absolute treasure.
One of my greatest fears in life is driving across a bridge just as it decides to collapse, condemning me to a suffocating grave in the depths of the water. Every time that bridge collapsed, I saw myself. Screaming. Screaming to a God named Sophie. And she said... "F**k that guy". And then I wept.
(There's more after the all caps yelling, Jeez, everyone says their bad at math, and as a Physics major I hate that sentiment. All it is is taking time to think through the relations between things. I trust that you will either take the time to analyze what went wrong with you failing designs and learn, or remember bridges you've seen and take inspiration from them to learn and better play this game. *5 minutes into video* IF YOU BUILD A TRIANGLE WITH 2 BEAMS ON A SIDE, IT IS NOW A SQUARE WHY ARE YOU PUTTING SO MUCH TRUSS UNDER THE BRIDGE? A LITTLE BY THE EDGES IS GOOD BUT YOUR JUST MAKING THE BRIDGE ALMOST COLLAPSE UNDER IT'S OWN WEIGHT IF YOU SUPPORT THE ROAD IN PLACE WITH WOOD AND THEN TRY TO PUSH IT UP WITH A PISTON, YOU BREAK THE ENTIRE BRIDGE BECAUSE YOUR BREAKING THE WOODEN BEAM USED TO STABILIZE THE BRIDGE IF YOU SEE A SUPPORT BREAK INSTANTLY ON ONE END OF THE BRIDGE BEFORE YOU EVEN START, THINK ABOUT IF YOU REALLY NEED THAT SUPPORT. *end of video* You say you're not going to be an engineer or build bridges because you are "clearly not good," but nobody is good until they study to build bridges. This bare basics of this type of stuff is an entire college semester for engineers, going through all the equations to make sure everything works. It's difficult because you are doing something difficult. I get that you actually aren't interested in doing this stuff and were going for comedy, but it is something that can be learned. I swear my all caps was also comedic effect, I wasn't mad at you at all. To anybody discouraged by this who considers themselves bad at math, you can do it. You can learn to build bridges. I BELIEVE IN YOU RANDOM RU-vid COMMENT READER.
You need a sidekick. I mean really it will take your show to the next level I promise. Here are the qualifications, she must be Jewish and a musician and enjoy video games and extremely awkward. (Bonus points if her name is Danielle or Daniela or super butter buns I guess🙄.) After that you’ll really have a perfect show I promise. You truly are awesome on your own, you really really are. You’re just incomplete. Please don’t be offended. I mean that in the nicest way possible.
_Im getting this family home for Christmas._ They might not be in one piece or even alive, but they are getting there. _I dont want to be an engineer anymore._ Wait, you were at some point during those 4 hours ?
@@SubjectiveObserver I mean every bridge you have ever used was *constructed* by people that probably struggled with math. No disrespect for construction workers meant, you guys all amazing.
This has been nearly 20 minutes of the best thing. The perfect timing of the bridge collapses. That one car that kept getting stuck. Your reaction when they somehow work out Just... Perfection.
Sophie: builds bridge that’s obviously gonna collapse Sophie herself: This is not gonna work Bridge: collapses immediately Sophie: surprised pikachu face
If you ever fell like playing something similar, might I suggest Bridge Constructor: Portal. Yes, the developers did get the licence to use for their game. It's actually kind of hard, though to be fair, I'm not very good at puzzle games. It's on steam and it's $11.49 CDN. sorry, I don't know the conversion rate.
If anyone wants to hear about engineering disasters (including several different bridges) I highly recommend the podcast "Well There's Your Problem" along with the channel "donoteat01."
Every time I hear "Lookit these fuckin triangles, dawg", I got to remember that this is the woman who made that famous dissection of Drakenguard and Nier. Never change, Sophie.
I remember when Markiplier, a former engineer, played this game. I thought back then "this is pretty common knowledge, who hasn't seen a bridge before?" I guess I was wrong.
Would love to see Sophie and Joel (vargskelethor) try to work together in a game like this and see them both fail OH Sophie and Joel in Rollercoaster Tycoon Multiplayer.
