We are so lucky to have people like you in our military, and support people like Rachel to have your back, be supportive and give you her blessing. You two are an amazing couple and our country is all the better because of you both.

My son-in-law, daughter and two kids have been in the Air Force for 18 years. He is a helicopter pilot - went to Navy flight school in Pensacola - Helicopter course in Alabama - 1st assignment, DC area - 2nd assignment Great Falls, Montana, 3rd assignment New Mexico - Deployed to Qatar - 4th assignment Alaska - 5th assignment Spokane, Washington - current assignment, back to Montana. They did not get to pick every location and did not absolutely love everything about every assignment, but they have had great adventures and grown as a couple and family, home schooling their kids. They talked about and prayed over each potential assignment and move. Looking back over their years of service to our Country, it is amazing how God has looked after them. My mother-in-law (28 years as a military spouse) would always say "Bloom where you are planted".

I wish you Gods Speed, Brad. Go for your dream. Rachel, you’re amazing. I loved when you said, “right now you and the kids are along for the ride” I’m sure you trusting Brad gives him so much confidence. So, cheers and here’s to you making it through. 🥂

We left California because we did not want our Grandchildren raised there, the entire family left. Unless you are going to homeschool or put them in private school you absolutely do not want to go to California. It was home to me for 60 years and I am glad we are out of there now.

I appreciated how Rachel listed as her first initial thoughts regarding their decision are 1) she’s really glad “we” went back into the military because it’s obvious Brad is in his element in the military and he really enjoys it and feels that this is his purpose, and 2) he has always had the aerospace branch of the service on his radar and it makes sense to consider it, and 3) he hasn’t ever steered them wrong as a family ~ solid reasonable perspectives followed by solid support for his leadership role. Just continue to pray about this (and every) decision. Proverbs 3:5-6❤

Thanks to you & your family for your service. Brad, you definitely know what you are doing & Rach is the best support for you. You guys are couple goals!! 🤍🤍🙏🏼🙏🏼I have friends in the military that are stationed in Okinowa, by their reports & pictures, Rachel would LOVE that area, such a great experience for the kids as well. Lots of hikes, beach explorations, the sights & sounds of the city when you want. Awesome!! BUT… Family, it’s definitely a long flight back to the US & moving is a process. So something to consider. We all know you’ll make the best decision for your family!! 🎉🎉🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I grew up in the Central Valley area of CA, near Fresno. Lemoore is not that close to Bakersfield. You would be closer to Tulare and Visalia. Yes, it is a lot of farmland and can be hot in the summer - but there won't be any humidity. Not too far away is a town called Handford. They have the best ice cream at the Superior Dairy Restaurant. Be prepared - their portions are huge! The strawberry sorbet is incredible. Besides Yosemite, you'll also want to check out the Sequoia National Forest area with all the giant redwoods. Of course, all the fires changed some of the landscape. San Francisco can be tricky with their new policies for the homeless. You may see naked people walking down the street or camped on most any corner. One museum you'll want to check out is the Walt Disney Museum located in the Presidio of San Francisco. If you can drive up to Northern CA to Placerville (on the way to Lake Tahoe) in Sept. or Oct., they have a great event for the entire two months called Apple Hill. There are several farms that all produce a variety of apples (+ pies, cakes, donuts, slushies, and cider.....) that open their farms up to visitors. The kids can even fish for trout at High Hill Ranch. On most weekends there are also craft fairs going on. County fairs and Farmers Markets will be plentiful. And of course, you'll find the best Mexican food anywhere! BTW - I'm not employed by the CA tourist bureau. LOL. I live in Ohio now and just miss some of my old "haunts" in CA. Blessings, Janell

I would do either Jacksonville, Florida or California only because at least RACHELs parents can easily drive to Jacksonville, Florida or the state of California in their RV along with Brad’s parents. We’re as if you were to move to another country such as Okinawa, Japan both your parents would have to fly to Okinawa in Japan. And stay with you for at least two weeks minimum because you’re gonna fly all that way you’re gonna at least stay in Japan for at least a minimum of two weeks max three weeks, especially if you’re gonna fly all that way. But there’s also an Laurie to consider and what would she want to do? Would she want to move with you wherever you choose to go or would she want to go back to Kansas City? And continue to travel with you and move with you depending state you go to our country meaning Japan. So there’s also that to consider.. and as far as the kids go, it would be truly an adventure for them very educational adventure at especially if you end up in Okinawa Japan, that would be amazing. But if I were, I would choose either Jacksonville, the East Coast or the state of California I don’t think I could move that far to Okinawa Japan, knowing that my family could only come out and see me once every six months to a year because of the cost of flying there back-and-forth. So you got away the pros in the cons of what you’re considering doing.

My Dad too, as a former Marine of 9th Marines, 3rd Division, was also stationed in Okinawa Japanese Islands @ Camp Napunja, Ft Buckner, which was a main prison brigg, evidently for the Army. Dad stated they shared the base/camp with Army. He was in charge Communication Operations & Wiring. He was a great climber at 15 y.o, as he shared he loved climbing telephone polls & helped his older brother, who worked for his city hanging communication wiring cable. Dad didn't share too much more of his service time, sadly, even though I prompted alot. He was humble & proud. However, Dad stated his Marine 3rd division was a force to reckon with, as they are whom held China at bay, from crossing the Burma 'straights' I believe they were called/maybe still.. idk.. during the Cold War, before the Army could arrive. He stated he & his 3rd Division, caused China to retreat. Way cool yet, I bet extremely scary too. Dad only enlisted 4 yrs @ the young age of 17 y.o., in order, to sadly get away from his alcoholic abusive step-dad. (he then remained Natl Guard til '63, to unlist with honorable discharge) Dad shared he ended up putting him on his keester, before he left for the Marines bc, dude was drunk & wouldn't leave his sister's alone. Dad interfered to make him stop & dude said let's take this outside. Sooo.. my Dad obliged.. Dad said dude swung & a miss.. Dad returned with 1 punch k/o.. 🤭😂🤣 I miss my Dad.. he was forcefully taken from me in '21.. not by my, nor his choice either.. he fought but, physically lost that fight.. while tied down..😭💔 I know he is with God & my Ma❤

If you go charter flight with the Navy to Okinawa, it will be longer. We went to Sicily from Great Lakes with 3 kids….the flight over was challenging hours long, but Italy was fabulous!! Apply for the program….you never know where it will take you. Let’s hear for Navy Wives!!

I think Rachel is very supportive of your dreams I liked it when she told you that you have never steered our family wrong. I am thinking of a couple of things to ask yourselves during the decision-making process do you still come home each evening, as you do now, and can she spend time with her family no matter where you are stationed? I wish you well in your decision. Seek God's guidance. He will not steer you wrong either.

I spent most of my life in Fresno, California which is 36 minutes away from Lemoore. I enjoyed the shopping centers, movie theaters and restaurants. There are golf courses and lakes nearby. I just had a wonderful idea for you and Rach as you are making your decisions on where to be with your new optometry position- - Travel to each of the mainland cities, taking a long weekend and actually see the city and all that is offered there. The baby twins could go with you and Rach and the other kiddos could be with one of the sets of grandparents. That way you can see it without being committed to it and hating it after you move there. ( If it is the Navy’s choice, then that’s different). I know you guys go to Jacksonville all the time, so that one really doesn’t count. I would rather spend a little money visiting these places instead of regretting the move. 💕💕💕💕
