Seemed to leave that key part out of his response and the vet didn’t think to ask. Should have asked if the US sold those weapons to the Afghans or if we gave it to them.

It’s really not the money, it’s the fact that all these weapons have been used against innocent civilians.

I’ve never had disdain for the military before these generals came along. It staggers me the amount of damage they’ve brought upon the greatest military in the world.

If this man had any interest beyond himself, he would have resigned rather than preside over the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, and then come around later to try to wash his hands. He is a disgrace.

They can write off billions of dollars but can't find resources to help homeless Veterans who's lives may have been irreparably impaired by loses of limbs or mental scarring by PTSD, for example.

The real reason the equipment was left behind is because it is cheaper to leave it than bring it back. That is the bottom line. A large part of what was left behind the Afghan forces had no ability to maintain or operate without US assistance. When the evacuation started falling on its ass the gear should have been blown in place.

A compass in my company's supply room went missing. After 18 months in command, my supply sergeant and I found out about it at the change-of-command inventory. I paid $12.50 for that compass -- to reimburse the US taxpayers for my failure to keep track of that compass. 😆

Trump's people keep trying to make hay on this issue, but there's no beef here. Milley explained that it was Afghan equipment by the time we left, but he didn't explain that it wasn't $7 billion worth. $7 billion was its cost when it was new. Much of it was warn out or destroyed by the time we left. A lot of it was flown or driven out of the Afghanistan by escaping Afghans. What was left was hardly fearsome - mostly small arms, body armor, pickup trucks, HUMVEES, a handful of mini helicopters, and some prop planes. Surrendering Afghan forces gave some of it to the Taliban, sold some of it, and hid some of it. Almost none of it is being used for fighting anymore. Except for Taliban operations against ISIS, Afghanistan is at peace.

Your a complete liar or you've been given some blue pill that makes you feel better. Those of us that have seen the attack helicopters yeah they seam little but thier some of the most sophisticated equipment in the world. They left Abraham's and bradly tanks fully operational and with plenty of ammunition to wage thier own private war. Many of the while blowers complained about not blowing the equipment in place. This equipment you claim costed 7b new if you account for depreciation would still be worth 3.5 billion dollars. I served for 15 yrs before I got a permanent vacation from my service in Iraq. Even when leaving Iraq we brought home Korean Era equipment way outdated but some how still worth enough to load it on the boat and bring back across the pond. Lastly this is treason by giving aid to the enemy and at a time if war is punishable by death....

So the weapons cant kill people anymore since Biden left them there. 🤔

Lots of brand new, never been used equipment was left behind and those "mini-helicopters" are millions of dollars each. This was a decision to arm the Taliban, exactly the people who attacked us on 9/11.

A lot of it was flown or driven out of the Afghanistan by escaping Afghans. How many tanks, Jeeps, radars and Howitzers fit in a refugee (escapee) suitcase? Do you have any proof that heavy arms and technologically sensitive materials were not abandoned? Is anyone willing to provide reliable information on the subject or is this whole thing surging now an electoral whitewashing?

If we didn't leave those weapons, then in twenty years when we go back in our independent fair Press won't be able to go on and in about how formidable the Elite Republican Afghanistan Army is.
