Panthers O Line is actually shorter on average than Bama’s too. He only had 2 batted passes in his college career as well.

That is somewhat accurate, but not entirely in Bryce’s case. Bryce had a pretty terrible OL in his Heisman season, except for Evan Neal. The right side was a turnstile and he got hit far more than prior Bama QBs. Things improved in 2022 but the OL still wasn’t what Bama is used to. You’re right that he’ll need to put the ball in tighter windows though. He wasn’t as good as Tua and Mac with his ball placement on intermediate and crossing routes, where you really need to be very accurate. To me, it always seemed like it was more of an issue with him holding the ball a bit too long and waiting for the WR to get open instead of anticipating the WR’s breaks, as opposed to a genuine ball placement issue. (Perhaps it does have something to do with his footwork, as the video claims.). He can put the ball where he wants it with the best of them when he is confident in his read and sets his feet though. Bryce had two elite WRs in 2021 who really helped him out, but there was a massive drop-off in 2022 due to some bad evals in the previous few WR classes, and youth among the guys with real talent. Still, Bryce has a lot of qualities that don’t come along very often and that can’t really be taught. He’s worth the risk, especially now that the rookie wage scale keeps a bad first round pick from putting you in salary cap hell for 5 years.

Alabama offensive line was not good this past year particularly.

Bama was 120th in sacks allowed in Bryce’s Heisman season. He got sacked 41 times, which is a ton for a college QB. Seems like you’re making assumptions without having watched many of his games.

At every level of football he's played at he always proved his doubters wrong. You don't become a 5 star recruit playing in the SEC at Bama and becoming a Heisman trophy winner by accident

CJ is a good QB, until he's pressured. Last year he was in the bottom 10% of QB's in college under pressure. That will not translate well to the NFL.

@ja Bryce is natural and instinctive the way a person sees things in their head through study. Stroud is stiff. He looks at Ryan Day and doesn’t have to figure anything out a la Goff with McVay. Also all the other stuff you hear about how Bryce got the game plan digested and he’s sharing his pass protection concerns and some plays and concepts are gonna be problematic. History and common sense tells us only one quarterback is gonna make it. Got my money on Bryce cause it’s 2023 and not 1983. GL JoM

The Bama QB's suffer from same problem as university of Miami QB's post 90's. So much talent on team makes QB look a little better than they are. QB's aren't use to multiple games with hits from a bad line or no run game or little wr talent. Just have things to good in college nor ready for a bad pro team at all.

@@bryanttisdale2446 You clearly didn’t watch Bama in 2021 or 2022. That 2021 OL was atrocious except for Evan Neal. Bryce took a real beating. The 2022 OL was decent but still not nearly up to Bama standards. The issue was the opposite with the WRs. In 2021, Bama had two elite WRs (except in the championship game). In 2022, the WR corps was pretty average. There were some highly-ranked guys, but their play didn’t match their hype. Tua, Mac, and Jalen had MUCH better personnel around them than Bryce Young did.

@Thomas Hillebrand Richardson has the best physical talent by far, but he is a massive project. He is far, far behind where a guy like Jalen Hurts was entering the league, and Hurts needed a lot of work and a great supporting cast to get where he is. Richardson wasn’t even a competent passer at Florida.

And Bryce still put up absurd numbers and won the Heisman. Duke or Texas Tech don’t have as much talent as even a bad Bama OL, but they don’t face nearly the same level of defensive talent either. The opposition matters. No one ever said Bryce had elite physical tools. But he does have pretty good ones, and elite mental tools. And there’s no question he carried the Bama offense the last 2 seasons. You seem to have just come in with a bunch of preconceived notions about Alabama based on its success over the last 15 years without bothering to actually do any research.

Kyler isn’t really taller, and while those guys have sturdier frames (or more accurately, have filled out their frames more) than Young has now, only Wilson was that developed in college. Bryce has already put on 10-15 pounds in order to protect himself, and while I’m sure not all of it is “good weight” since he put it on in a hurry, there’s no reason to think he can’t do so in the future. He’s only 21 years old, and most guys continue to develop physically into their mid-20s, especially in an NFL strength program. And it’s not as if he’s been injury-prone like Tua was. Bryce had one shoulder injury in 2 years starting in a conference that’s about as close as you’re going to get to the NFL as far as size/speed. And contrary to popular belief, his OL was actually pretty bad apart from a couple of players, and he got hit A LOT in his Heisman season. That said, his height does limit him somewhat, and that was true at Bama as well. He has trouble seeing WRs on quick slants across the middle, which is one reason that play was largely absent after Tua and Mac had so much success with it. He needs to be in the right offense that will move him around to help him see the field. But in the right situation, he can be very good. He has a mind for football that you just can’t teach, and a good (but not elite) arm that will get better as he gets stronger.
