Thank you so much for this great and in-depth tutorial. I have been practicing (or say struggling with) this piece for much time now. I am not a professional pianist but I really want to master this one, and your tutorial was another step towards that goal. So thanks a lot, you are a wonderful musician. :)
Dear Ms Zhang, I’m thrilled to have found your tutorials on this piece. What a beautiful technique you have! I’m just an amateur, but your hints are priceless. What a joy to hear you play!
Thank you for yoir expertise on taking this piece apart Tingting. My Mom played all my life and Im.going to challenge myself to learn this piece as much as I can. ❤ 🎹
This is excellent teaching, done from a learner's perspective and with learners' needs in mind, not just some abstract notion of musicality and interpretation. It's tremendously helpful. Thanks!
You're absolutely right - it's taking tremendous effort and dedicated slow/separate hands practise to learn this piece - but technically it is now coming together - I memorise everything but with age I find this has become slower. Your video here is fantastic for showing the subtle nuances and ways to practise the 'voices' and 'jumps'. I feel like I've had a Piano lesson/masterclass on the next stage of perfecting this ready for LRSM or just playing in public. I can't thank you enough for sharing your expertise.
A very thorough tutorial on this song. So much to learn and I loved how you explained about paying attention to the inner voice in the L.H, using flat fingers to play more expressively and suggesting ways to play rubato for this song. Thank you for another great video.
🎹♥🌹Thank You for Your Artistic Creativity Loved your video 1 and 2 especially 2. Thanks foe emphasizing rest periods and technique through out this physical but Beautiful piece."
Great video! I also do a video on this - but my fingering is apparently not the best! Would like to see your pedalling. Like in the Schubert a flat major - that'd be lovely.. Thanks!
I understand, we all do. First, you need to practice in slowww tempo, feel completely tension free. Then follow my tips on relaxation by "closing" your hands between the groups of chords, taking advantage of every rest. Next, you need to build your speed and endurance. This takes time! Be patient, each week you can increase your tempo a little bit, and gradually get to a speed where you may still feel some tension but can manage to get through. Btw, I addressed more on the relaxation in Part One of the tutorial.
