Hi there. Texas here. No beans in Chili here but, when I decide I want beans I use black beans and, dark red kidney beans. I also top it with grated cheese I prefer to grate myself and of course, being the Avo junkie that I am, I put slices of svocado on it also. Looks really good. Great job!
I was very happy to wake up this morning and see this. Being on the East Coast of the US it was way to early in the morning to catch the live stream. In my life chili con carne is made without beans. There has always been the question, especially in the Southern States, weather beans should be added or not. If I add beans it is always black beans. For some reason I don’t like kidney beans. I also love white chili recipes with small white beans, chicken and green salsa Verdi. This was great to see! Thank you!
In the UK, kidney beans would be expected. I made one without just recently as lower carb, and was left thinking it was nice, but much like a beef keema would have been. I think I should have made it a lot hotter. You can't really go wrong though.
As a Texan a true chili should have no beans. There are many that will argue about it but no beans. We don’t really eat kidney beans in Texas. The pinto bean is king here. There is a Texan lady on RU-vid called Rachel Cooks With Love. She focuses on tex-mex plus a few other things. You can get some tips. Also, Kent Rollins does “cowboy” cooking. We would put cilantro as a condiment in our own bowl along with grated cheese or a wee bit of sour cream. Frequently, served with a pan of cornbread.
@@HeadbangersKitchen Also, here I the meat market in our grocery store beside the ground beef (mince) they usually sell a coarser ground beef as “chili beef”. I usually just use regular ground beef. Some use beef that looks like it was cut up for a stew and cook it until it’s tender. You don’t see it as often.
