Would I be totally crazy or naive or awful for actually wanting to be involved in a code? I’m a technical assistant in an ED right now, and I’m also a second year medical student. I’ve also been a first aider, both paid and volunteer, for almost 5 years. My eventual goal is to work in ED, ICU, and complex chronic care, and ideally I want to work in international aid medicine eventually. I want to be where the area of greatest need is, I always do my best work in high pressure situations where there isn’t time to overthink. To have the privilege and responsibly of that acute moment of trying to save a life is just indescribable.

I'm also in my ED rotation this month as well! I am still amazed at how calm people can be during traumas and emergent cases. But it's so true, the main difference between me and them is they've been doing this for years and know what to do, and I'm still very unsure about all of the steps which can lead to a panic. It's giving me the motivation I need to continue studying even during this last stretch when there's not many required exams left.
