Content/Experience:
Here at the beginning of my fourth cycle of chemo, my box of pills and supplements says it all. Among the pills are my Keppra and a double dose of Depakote. Dr. Nalini Chilkov has provided acupuncture magnets to help with the nausea, and a Chinese herbal mixture to help with diarrhea.
The sedation, exhaustion, and chemo fog make this the difficult part of the journey, but I take the energy I have and invest it in exercise, including a walk up the hill in the park behind my house (see this video for the significance of this climb: • Video ). The chemo and my recent stay in the hospital weigh on me as I climb, but I am determined to rise through this. The question “what matters most?” sustains me. Making every moment count sustains me. The love of my family sustains me. The love of my work sustains me. Optimism sustains me.
I am rewarded at the top with a glimpse of the beauty and grace that surround me and sustain me every moment.
