Have you noticed that all the legends Manna Dey, Hemanta Kumar, kishore kumar, mohd Rafi, mukesh , sd, rd never ever boasted about themselves. So humble the persons they were. Fame never superceded the greatness.
Manna dey has sung innumerable most difficult and supreme stature of compositions in Indian films and outside. He is also the only singer giving his legendary voice to wide range of film heroes in different indian languages. He also sung for lots of those actors who always had Rafi SAHAB and kishore da as their signature tune. He is the once-a-century talent in Indian music and one of the greatest musicians India ever produced.
I was 6 or 7 when I was caught by the 'autograph bug.' I used to live in this sleepy little industrial colony in the middle of nowhere. Manna Dey had come to perform. He was staying in this guest house near my house. So, in the afternoon, I sneaked in to get an autograph. He was just about to start his practice. So when I asked him for an autograph, he asked me my name. So he asked whether I wanted the autograph in bengali. I told him I could not read bengali. He scolded me just like how an uncle would scold you. "A bengali boy, and you cannot read bengali!' Then he ordered cream biscuits and pakora for me. And made me sit on a chair while he sang for me (maybe it was his riyaz). He then told me, "you will remember this when you are older." I am 47 now. And I do.

why could I not have born in those times of such people who are real gold. Look at the way he is talking about everybody, his soul and mind is beautiful. Why do we have to tolerate mika and hard kaur.
Manna Da was the only male singer of India praised by great gazal singer Mehdi Hasan saheb. I read somewhere that legendary singer Mohd Rafi praising Manna Da by saying that " duniya mujhe sunti hai aur main Manna Da ko sunta hun " . No doubt Manna Da was not second to none with his soulful voice and singing expertise due to his command on classical music🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹
None of his songs even come closer to Baiju Bawara film songs... Besides there is KJ Yesudas and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Saheb Khan Ustaad Bade Ghulam Ali.. who is Manna Dey in front of the last two legend?

The very song 'Pucchona kayse maine' is a Nazrulgeeti ( song of poet Qazi Nazrul Islam) composed in the early 30s. Manna Dey knew the fact but why he didn't mention it is a question.

Truly he had been humble. He was among the greats but sadly he didn't get the number of songs despite having top quality voice, range, quality and unmatched class. Today's useless singers who have got a lot of fame and name stand nowhere near him.
A well documented interview where in dada Manna Dey seems to be very free and forthcoming. Great singer. Amongst his contemporaries he only got Prestigious Dada Saaheb Phalke Award.🙏🌹

Manna dey sahib was a great singer and classical trained and a truthful human being for manna da rafi sahib was the greatest playback singer of all time because rafi sahib was classical trained singer for manna da anyone who is not trained in classical music is not a singer

with due respect to Manna dey ji, its almost impossible for anyone to beat Bade Ghulam Ali khan when it comes to pure classical. Maano ya na maano. Especially when it comes to non-lip sync i.e background songs.

It’s a disgusting sign of your mind and soul. My request to those negative souls is stay away from these top classical arts if it is not for you. Likes dislikes are personal so you can opt for any options, but don’t put these signs on any ragas,songs and performances by any artists. These genre of artists are globally respected, honoured and loved by other musicians and listeners. If you can imagine or perform better then provide your knowledge and I can guarantee they will learn and pick up. What reveals the negative souls is that they put thumbs down 👎 to express their sadness publicly.
