Im looking to get into Riyria Chronicles could explain to me the order because I keep seeing a box set that is called riyria revelations and I would like to buy all the books at once so If you could tell me the order, I'd appreciate it.
@@fullcomicalchemist2195 personally I would read the Riyria Revelations first then the Riyria chronicles because you'll appreciate the stories more, then you could go onto the legends of the first empire series (thats how I did it) it works well because those ones arent finished yet book 5 comes out in feb and book 6 in may I think. But those books are set roughly 1000 years before Riyria...you could technically start with those, but like I said not a finished series yet
I have never clicked a Daniel Greene link so fast. Michael J Sullivan's books are my weekend escape. Comfort reading with my favourite fictional mates. Royce & Hadrian are so well done, this man's dialogue is perfect to my mind. 🙂
Dude! You are killing it. Who would have thought that you’d be getting these interviews with these huge authors a year ago? These books are so good. His wife talking about the marketing was fascinating. I love that they’re a team.
@@turtleanton6539 I've met them both in person and out of all the authors I have ever met (and I've met quite a few) they are the nicest people. Michael J Sullivan is like the Bruce Campbell of Fantasy Fiction. Just the nicest, most thankful guy.
Hey, thanks. The lack of humor is one thing that I really felt was needed in fantasy. It's tough though. You never know if people will "get it or not." Glad you did!
OMG I LOVE YOUR WORK, MR. SULLIVAN! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I'm reading Theft of Swords for the first time and I'm loving it! With just one book he has become one of my TOP authors in Fantasy. Amazing interview!
When I watch a video like this I feel sad that you will never make an interview with Robert Jordan. You are doing fantastic job and you deserve it. Loves from Poland!
j. Michael straczynski is one of my favorite comic authors :) i haven't seen bb5 YET but i will. it's great seeing so many people talk about him in this thread
@Michael J Sullivan , Sir your books are some of the best story's I have ever read. If I can ever get off work I will email you on your forum. I would like to have a conversation about the books a small but, I have a question that I believe you can answer in a insightful way that will help me accomplish something for my older brother. and I say that you can will answer in a specific way that will be beneficial because of what a lot of your interviews. it does seem like you have a head on your shoulder. Happy Easter I am writing this on Monday after Easter. thank you Mr.Sullivan and Mr. Green
Omg!!! Fantastic!! Michael J Sullivan! Wow! Thanks for this interview! Always such a treasure to get to peek into an amazing author’s mind. You’re wonderful!
I was one of those people who found Michael J Sullivan on GoodReads! Now he's on my auto-buy list next to the Liaden Universe, Patricia Briggs, Lois McMaster Bujold, Michelle Sagara-West and the like.... I have all their works that I can find.... ever!
You rock!!! First Brent Weeks and now Michael J. Sullivan?!?!?! You must have hacked my mind and are lining up ALL of my current favorite authors for interviews! Keep it up. (PS - Land a Stephen King interview, and you will have attained saintly status in my book...) (PPS - And I never even realized that Sullivan was influenced by my favorite comic book author/screen writer (J. Michael Straczynski) and by my favorite literary fiction author (Hemingway)... It's a small world after all!) Fantastic interview!
Please finish the rest of this series. I would argue strongly that his endings are probably the strongest stance for this writer. Insane plot twists that were hard to see coming but make so much sense afterwards it's a great advantage to writing the entire series first before publishing. I think you would love him even more if you finished the story.
As for the "never have read something like that before" in regards to the whole series being finished before publication, you're not 100% right here, Daniel Brandon Sanderson wrote the whole Mistborn trilogy before book one was out Here's the quote: "I wrote the books in the trilogy straight through. I had the third one rough drafted by the time the first one had to be in its final form so that I could keep everything consistent and working together the way I wanted it to. I didn't want it to feel like I was just making it up as I went along, which I feel is one of the strengths of the series. I don't know if I'll ever be able to have that opportunity again in a series, but it certainly worked well for the Mistborn books." Still, a great interview here, a pleasure to watch :)
How have I only just found this interview? Excellent, thank you! I've been reading Michael J. Sullivan since 2011. Looking forward to the next series already 👍🏻
I am about to start reading Age of Myth and now listening to him say he got better after the Riyria revelations I cannot wait to start reading Age of Myth
Loved the interview and the books. I’m so glad his wife pushed him to publish. They both seem so nice and appreciative of their fans. Also, His main characters display one of the best bromances in all of fantasy! I read the main series and I can’t wait to pick up the prequels.
What he was saying about listening to the audiobook first is facinating. I always have my editor read my work aloud to me before sending it off to be published because the errors stand out more clearly. It's cool to know that I'm not alone in that.
I just finished this book and wow, I didn't expect I would love it so much! Usually I would feel fatigued after reading such a huge book but I didn't feel it after finishing this and now I can't wait to fly through the second and the third and the next series from this author. I absolutely love Hadrian and Royce and almost everyone in the series. I complain about a lot of stuff in other books and it's just so refreshing to finally find one that is just solid GOLD ❤️
Dan with another awesome interview!!!!! I love Sullivan. I devoured all of these books and wanted more. It was such an amazing journey. Keep reading DG. So worth the ending.
I just found the Lengends of the First Empire series by accident listening to Pile of Bones on Audible, there was a snippet of chapter one of Age of Myth and I was hooked. Anxiously waiting for Age of Empyre. Now I want to read these Riyria books I keep hearing about.
I found this video because I was trying to check if Daniel reviewed Michael's Age of Myth. I loved the interview. Michael is awesome! And Age of Myth is my FAVORITE book EVER! I love it so much! Did you read it Daniel?!
I really enjoy Michael J Sullivans work , I have this series on my bookshelf and i read them a while ago, this video has inspired me to buy them again for my kindle. I loved it when he said that the books are 50% the authors and 50% the reader's, that is so true and what makes reading fantasy so special!
Babylon 5 is my favorite Sci-Fi series. It was written and created by J. Michael Straczynski and that should be relevant to you as he is the one working with Brandon Sanderson on the recently announced TV project (sorry if this was said before but I didn't see it when checking the comments). I am beyond excited for Straczynski and Sanderson to be working together as I am a huge fan of both of them.To know that B5 is an influence on Sullivan's writing makes me want to read it even more now! Thank you for this interview and the previous ones as well. Please keep up the great work!
I have lost so much of my work through usbs and computers dying or being corrupted. Last Kingdom is one of my favourite tv series. Really loved this interview!
I've been waiting for some Michael J. Sullivan content on this channel (maybe I missed some before this?). I absolutely love it. I have gone through all of his books on Audible. He is in my top three favorite authors. I love supporting him and his wife by backing their publishing on Kickstarter when I can.
I watched this interview..... then went online an ordered the Riyria Revelations.... keep up with these great interviews so I get more ideas of great books that I can read Daniel 👍📚
I literally screamed out loud when I saw the tile of this video!!! Love all of the Riyria books. I especially loved listening to his audio books narrated by Tim Gerald Reynolds (my favorite narrator)!!!! Definitely enjoyed the relationship between Hadrian and Royce.
Yes! I’ve been loving Legends of the First Empire series and I kept thinking why I haven’t I heard anything about this author on booktube? This was a really great interview.
Thanks Michael, Royce and Hadrian are outstanding characters. Plus I browsed the Age of Myth in my local bookstore after I could barely put it down back on the shelf. Sadly my budget and wallet couldn't do what my heart and mind wanted to do, which was to buy the book. Great chat once again Dan. I love your style of questioning and flexibility to adjust on the fly to allow a reverse question from an author.
ok... i read the first book (1 and 2 in one book) some time ago in my kindle and i loved it, then i forgot about it and started reading other books..., and life goes one..., later i found the audiobook and i'm currently lintening the first book again and loving it ... again!... and now i found this video and i havent yet finished watching it and already ordered the 3 book box online. So thats that! i made my part in supporting this great autor and i hope it continues to do the great worrk i has been doing. thank you!
So excited to see this interview! Just finished the Riyria Revelations trilogy (6 books) and going through PSD. I flew through the books and I’m so sorry to have turned the last page. Thinking about an immediate re-read?
Some content creators try to do interview styled videos and they just don't have the charisma or can't find the right back-and-forth. But you really handle this and other videos well. Great questions. Great conversation.
Wow! Daniel great interview. I love Michael J Sullivan books. Looking forward to his next and final book Age of Empyre in The Legends of the First Empire series
Discovered this series a couple of months ago. Have just the final book left (which I am saving a bit because I dont want it to be over). Absolutely loved it. And this despite the fact that fantasy does not appeal to me the same way it used to when I was young.
Hadrian and Royce have a great bromance! I loved the series. It could’ve be a little more gritty but I that’s just my preference. Theft of Swords was a great opener.
I'm a big fan of Micheal J Sullivans works, and as he mentioned, his writing has certainly improved with his recent books. Legends of the First Empire is my all time favorite series so far. Highly recommend you read/listen to them! But I warn you, once you start, good luck stopping.
