February 25, 1999. Mr. Hackerman is a Baltimore native, Polytechnic Institute graduate, and president and CEO of Whiting-Turner Construction. He started working at Whiting-Turner in 1938, fresh out of Johns Hopkins with a degree in civil engineering. He was the company's third employee and the firm had one project - building a drawbridge in Cambridge. More than seven decades later, he remains the driving force in a company that has grown into one of the nation's largest contracting firms.
Mr. Hackerman is interviewed by a member of the Whiting School of Engineering.

Hey, this is my father's cousin. I hope to see him real soon; he's my last connection to my father. My father and I were best friends. Willard, if you reach this, I want to visit you all soon.
