Bestselling author Tim Ferriss (Tools of Titans, The 4-Hour Workweek, etc.) probes the science, mysteries, and future of psychedelics with Dr. Roland R. Griffiths, a clinical pharmacologist at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Griffiths has been researching mood-altering compounds for more than 40 years, has published more than 370 scientific papers, and started the psilocybin (think “magic mushrooms") research program at Johns Hopkins nearly 20 years ago. Dr. Griffiths and his colleagues have been leaders in the re-initiation of research with classic psychedelic drugs, which was blocked for a period of several decades. This session offers details and stories that can help both novices and experienced psychonauts get a better understanding of the applications of these incredible compounds.

About SXSW:
Started in 1987, South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place early each year in mid-March in Austin, Texas. SXSW’s original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today whether it is music, film or interactive technologies.

So incredibly fascinating. As a mature psychology student soon to graduate, I find this engaging almost beyond words. I did say almost. The misplaced shadow of governments has been cast for too long over these compounds, and for some, needless suffering continues without their involvement.

Wonderful information Tim. Dr. Griffiths is indeed a pioneer doing work that can save us as humans. What a blessing it is also to be in the position to affect positively the course of this research.

So hook the audio up on an amplifier. Or ask someone to do it for you. It's not difficult and worth the effort. You can enjoy amplified music then too. I did it and am very happy with it. Good luck!

Actually when I use my bluetooth Grado GW100 headphones (I highly recommend, topquality sound), the sound is loud enough, but on my 2.0 pc audio set it is a bit low.

I read a beautiful long comment on the difficulties of being authentic in today’s world a couple of days ago. I logged on today with a pen to copy it down but it has disappeared where are the old comments? There aren’t words to describe my admiration for Roland Griffiths such a good interview.

RU-vid set to max volume, computer set to max volume, speakers set to max volume. Still too low. Wat do.

@@GiveMeMyArm you're SOL. It was uploaded at a low level. You'll wanna download this video and throw it into a DAW to amplify the volume.

Probably has to do with the final mix in order to cut down on background chatter that Tim refers to during the interview.
@amadaris78
@amadaris78 5 лет назад
@@mccu0736 true but you could just use a noise gate to process the background noise instead of bringing the whole level of the audio down. But this may actually be an issue of the input audio level as opposed to post processing so who knows.

As cerimonias tradicionais com plantas de poder ensinam bascamente sobre humildade. Que possamos honrar também nossos ancestrais e os valores mais profundos por trás do uso dessas medicinas, e não apenas para alimentar o EGO.

Is interesting how they deter you from seeking out guidance from whomever gives it…say Shaman in Craigslist but they are not really opening up these treatments to the general public who really need it. I was with my psychiatrist and she would not approve of it she only prescribes pharmaceuticals which are useless to me and only mess up my endocrine system. so of course I’m left to seek out help from less than ideal people.

Of course these people want control. The idea that they are dispensable in favour of shamans et al threatens their career and everything they worked and trained for lol.
