I've always found it very noble how capture falconers re-release their birds into the wild after a few seasons. They respect the fact that this is and will always be a wild animal; they're only forming a brief partnership with it
@rrmerlin3402

Only when the bird did not work out for the falconer . Ancient Arab falconers would trap falcon in the fall and release in the next spring, that's because they were hunting with the falcon for subsistence and could not hunt in heat of summer and did not want to feed a non hunting bird.

I'm 15 and have become a bit interested in falconry. Looking at the comments I'm glad I'm not alone with being a young person interested in these birds. I'm currently in my 2nd year of highschool and striving towards being a vet tech, but I'll always have falconry in the corner of my mind as something to branch off and start seriously looking into.

Oh my gosh!! It's you!! I subscribed and added you already!! Thanks!! There is at least one peregrine that lives in my city. I've seen it perched on a steeple a few times, and earing across the street from it twice. I also have a peregrine feather that my sister found and another one that I found somewhere else. I got back from a camp today that has like, eight ospreys, and two eagles. There are also two eagles, and I'm pretty sure they're a young Bald Eagle and a female, but they look like golden eagles, but I live in Maine and they don't live here, or at least they don't officially live here. The osprey nest is across from my campsite and I kayak right to it often!! I'm only twelve though, and I have to be fourteen to get my permit, so I can't wait!! Thank you so much!!

To gain the trust and allegiance of another creature to join in the hunt through teamwork and respect is one of the most beautiful and remarkable things. I'm determined to make this a reality for myself and join in the hunt as well to keep this old tradition alive.

Falconry has always pinged my interest, especially the role of practitioners providing knowledge and experience that allowed the reintroduction of Bald Eagles to succeed in multiple areas and ways.Haven't really decided whether I'd go for straight up falconry or rehabilitation once I get the time and money.

I'm 15 in ny and I'm taking my falconry test on Friday 😁 fingers crossed it goes well. I honestly don't think I will pass just because all I have done is learned from a book that by provided and it's definitely not enough. But I'd rather take this test and have a slight chance at passing than wait many months to take it. But I'm happy to see some videos like this on the internet! Thanks

that is true but dont forget that parents dont allways like having large birds of prey aroud.
@FalconryTold

Spencer V right, but there's got to be a way you can win them to your cause. If you've got a back yard, a minimum legal sized mews is all you need. Most passage birds are completely silent and unobtrusive in their behavior. Stay interested though!

we have 3 acres, but we just moved from medford oregon so we have a lot of work to do on our land, were building a go kart track, and falconry would cost a lot. i love being in the outdoors, fishing, swimming, and hunting so i considered starting falconry two years ago.

What is a eagle handler called?
@farhanakhan7782
@farhanakhan7782 2 года назад
Falconry Activity: 1. Catching birds. 2. Falconry captures are Falconers. 3. Falconers use something to trap birds. 4. Falconers make food for birds. 5. The bird then just risks itself in danger. Priority: 6. Birds need a harmless environment. 7. They also need food to survive. Other facts: 8. Falconers now use kites for falconry.

hello owsome video..i have a question that been on my mind for years is there a specific age for the birds as to be trained specially a golden eagle and what iif it is a migrated golden eagle that is 9 yrs old can it be trained and how far can i go with training?? thanks
@autismocharismo
@autismocharismo 4 года назад
Almost all times, a bird has to be caught when it is able to fly, but young enough to have just left the nest. I forgot the exact age, but it has to be at least less than 2 years old so it does not have any children to return to. A 9 yearold Eagle is too old.

Birds in general arnt something you can “play” with a couple hours a day. The easiest pet I had a was a free flight pigeon, she went with me everywhere, if she couldn’t ride she followed the truck, if she couldn’t come inside my destination she would go blend in with the other pidgeons untill I called her as we could go home, it’s like having a permanent child that needs your attention. Like a toddler that never grows past 4 years old and can’t talk.

@rossclark2622
@rossclark2622 8 лет назад
+Aurelie Nani what about breeders
@aurelienani204
@aurelienani204 8 лет назад
Ross Clark unlike other brids, hawks cost a lot of money, easily $1000 this only works by limiting supply, they'll sell you a bird if you are a falconer and go through the routes to become one, which will cost you too the easiest way to get a bird is go live in thailand, we have a place there, with little falconet, they cost us nothing, and they are much easier to mainain in Europe you also go into a databank if you keep a bird of prey, so if anything or anyone gets attacked by your bird, they can sue you, this isn't the case with any other type of bird keeping a falcon in th3e west is a pain, the birds cost a ton of money, the rules are crazy, and the types of falcons and hawks are not easy to maintain, there are many more fun birds than birds of prey to keep in the west, the smallest birds of prey you find in south-east asia are fun and easy to maintain, but they're illegal to import..but there are many smaller fun birds in the west that aren't birds of prey too
@rossclark2622
@rossclark2622 8 лет назад
+Aurelie Nani I know they cost a lot of money but I'm not going to go and live in Thailand, that's ridiculous.
@thehyperfail49
@thehyperfail49 8 лет назад
+Aurelie Nani this is not quite true, in England you do not need any type of licensing to acquire most species of raptor, many breeders will sell you a bird, the only requirement is that the bird is ringed and registered
@hannag4768
@hannag4768 7 лет назад
I'd Love to work with these kind of birds... But they are, sadly, illegal in sweden. Both the sport and having them. Which, is, kind of understandable- they don't want hybrids. But it would be very Easy to just make it legal to own swedish bird species (with swedish blood). But Hey! I can always dream lol

You'd want to catch a falcon after getting a license and everything else required to become a falconer, you have the choice of either catching a red tail Hawk or an American kestrel, I recommend checking out the California hawking club website if you want to learn more about falconry.

@hannag4768
@hannag4768 7 лет назад
adnan khan. They need to stretch their wings a lot. And when they do, they'll hunt everything small that moves. It's not something you can make them stop. You're not supposed to buy living food. It sets out to hunt for itself, but you need to be there and help kill the prey if something goes wrong.

Dying sport. Those that commit and pass the test often don't find sponsorship and its a total waste of time. Been through it for years. My attitude doesn't help but whatever, I educate people on how dumb falconry regulation is. I hope the USFWS gets defunded, not comfortable with my hard earned tax dollars going to those pricks.
