Great video! I am a proud Canadian. Even prouder that Robert Godin has kept his guitar manufacturing in Canada. Built by proud Canadians in Canada. I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Godin back in the very early 80s in Toronto, Canada at the MIAC show (Canadian equivalent of the NAMM show in the states). Robert was just a really cool, chilled out guy (comfortably humble) who was more than happy to chat with me for close to an hour about guitars and the music biz. I will always cherish that visit we had. Now, seeing the international notoriety that he enjoys because of his quality instruments and savvy approach to marketing is just plain awesome. I have been loving my xtSA KOA for 12 years now and am just about to order the gorgeous 5th Avenue Jumbo to add to my quiver. Yay Godin!
huge fan of Godin guitars. My first electric guitar was a Godin Freeway Classic (they don't make them anymore) and it was the best guitar you could purchase in that price range at the time (2004-ish).
I have a Godin A6 that I haven't played or even taken out of the case in about 4 months. I watched this video and got so excited I grab mine out of the case. I had forgotten how amazing they sound. Godin is definitely one of the most underrated guitar Brands out there I've owned four different models and they have all been fabulous👍🏾
Godin’s Summit Classic SG is a superb guitar with a Les Paul’ish sound. The build quality is second to none and it’s very reasonably priced. I love this guitar.
Great Post Sir. I own the 5th Ave Kingpin 2 and I love it! It’s easily been my favourite guitar too. Now I’m paying off a Art & Lutherie Parlour. Godin make FANTASTIC instruments. It’s a unheralded name, but those who know….KNOW!! Stay safe and keep on playing. Cheers
I have had many Godin guitars over the years the first being a Norman B20. Now I have a favourite freeway classic purchased in non working condition for next to nothing at a local antique shop. Works perfectly now. Sometimes you get lucky.
My favorite brand of guitars. I have a 5th Ave Jumbo P-Rail on order and saving for a Montreal Premiere LTD, which, in my opinion, may be one of the finest, most versatile electric guitars ever produced
Excellent quality instruments and excellent value for dollar. Perfect build quality, tones and intonation. And they smell great? Just got a Stadium HT and haven’t played my Gibson’s or old Peavey’s in two weeks. And not just a good guitar for sub $1,000, but a professional instrument. Definitely check one out! I’ll be sticking with this brand from now on.
I own a Godin Radiator and a Seagull acoustic (made in Quebec by Godin). Outstanding quality and sound at a great price. All woods used are Canadian grown and harvested by Canadian workers.
Thanks for the video. Very informative and entertaining. I'm currently in the market for a hybrid and needless to say, Godin Multiacs are top of the list. This certainly helped my decision. Thanks a lot!
Just starting to learn about the Godin line of guitars. This was a very informative presentation and the demo playing was very impressive btw. I am particularly interested in the Multiac Steel Duet Ambiance that was demo'd but could not locate it specifically on their site. The Arch top Kingpin looks and sounded amazing as well. Well done.
Just purchased a Simon and Patrick woodland mahogany spruce for $99 wasn't too familiar with the Godin name outside of seagull guitars. This is a very informative history and explanation of Godin
Ditto. I love my Godin 5th Ave Kingpin archtop; Would like a higher end acoustic and this Godin Metropolis LTD Natural HG EQ is a standout. I like the Gibson's too, but at twice the price...maybe not that much more.
All three of my electrics are Godin. Godin Summit Classic SG with one Kingpin P90, A summit Classic Creme Brule with 2 SD P90's, and a Godin progression plus ! Im Canadian though so probably biased.
i purchased an xtsa in august...the Only thing that i thought was not up to par, is the thirteen pin port is extremely flimsy. everything else is great
When you want the best value in quality made guitars, try Godin…..buy Godin…..they are really a great guitar company….Excellent Customer service if you ever need them….❤. And don’t forget to try out pairing one with a Roland Gr-55 for unlimited options to sound like every song ever made..no matter the instrument….❤
Godin constantly innovate, which Gibson stopped doing in the early 60's. I was bday gifted a Fender Cobain Jaguar in 2004, dog ugly looking thing, I went back to the shop the next day and exchanged it for a Freeway Classic, still sounds fantastic to this day, nice and light for gigging. That started my admiration for Godin guitars, I added am LGX-SA, Seagull S6 and a Seagull S8 mandolin the later had some serious build quality issues which was disappointing and they need to keep an eye on, but otherwise excellent machines and constant innovation and player 1st contoured bodies for long gigs.
I've got American and Mexican Fenders and Godins. Unless there is a feature or colour that one has over the other, go with the price. Some of my favourites are Godin but they are all excellent instruments.
Ironic. Godin is the "biggest guitar making company in N America" yet few have heard of them. Hardly talked about. Don't have t he same cache or rep as a Gibson or Fender, Martin or the boutique brands that showed up in the 90's.. The problem is...I think...like most CDN made products is a weak marketing dept/budget. (I'm CDN btw..from Toronto). We don't know how to effectively get product known to the world. While the American's are one of the best at marketing. Making a lot of "noise"...Apple, Nike, Ford...etc...Steinway & Son's, Martin, Gibson..etc.... Boucher...another guitar company based out of Montreal...also not tht well known...But seems more known than Godin..
Godin is not from 1972, Norman guitars started 1972. Godin worked for Norman and quit. He started his own company and then bought out Norman. Stop trying to change history and get off wikipedia.
Some solid guitars in the lineup, problem is......... well Godin typically doesn't stand behind thier products, horrible customer service. My advice, move on to another company.
I've just purchased the Godin A6 Ultra from Sam Ash...no brochure or tag, no explanation of pickups and sliders, not even a tag with serial number, type of strings that are on it...I'm relatively new to guitar so I need this info...can't call Godin so I emailed them...got one sentence answer...very disappointing...certainly not like Martin customer service for sure! ...and not for nothing why is this dude from Godin mispronouncing the name?! It's pronounced GO DAN...they're adamant about that! I guess I'll just have to keep you tubing it until I figure out how to get a decent tone out of this damn guitar
