Hi Ian...they are handy...but as always space is a problem...this can go on a small machine table...I guess one could custom make a table or adapt an existing one to get it even smaller.

Harry(15/12/2018) 5/5 I am very pleased with this machine and I have been using it quite a while now to skive bag seams in mainly veg tan leather..I changed the foot for a roller and its great. Works very well on chrome tan leather with the standard feet. All seems well made, I did loosen off the bell knife adjuster when I first got it as it was tight and it has been great since. All in a good machine that works well and is very good value. I found the Tysew team very good to deal and I have bought other machines from them.
That's great...I had to loosen off my bell knife adjuster as well...so perhaps something for Tysew to bear in mind. Anyway pleased it's doing well for you, I am ditto very happy with mine, and have like you found Tysew very good....I have no commercial relationship with them. Best wishes Harry
Mines mega tight too, need to figur how to looks it. Which roller foot did you buy for it? I mostly use veg tan too so could use something that doesn’t mark the surface
Looking forward to the next video on this machine.I operated a similar machine(not sure of the model) with very little instructions, it grabbed the leather and went through so fast it was hard to control , also it would jam up. Upholstery grade leather that had alot of stretch to it.We generally use it to skive the leather for making buttons. Your video gave me a thought of seeing if i can look up the manual for it.
Hi Harry if you wanted to thin a small piece of leather (a wallet pocket for instance) can you remove the stop and keep running the piece of leather through until you have thinned the whole piece, or is this not possible? Hope this explains what I mean
I’ve same make as you, I’m based in U.K., I’ve never spent much time on mine as it appears to jam & stop the wheel rotating, even tho it’s not jammed, think it might be my servo motor error 0-02 all the time, it’s new, but it’s probably me being inexperienced, any ideas why it stops & appears to jam. ???

Hi Harry. Thank you for this video. I am planning to purchase one but there are 2 options that is in my consideration. The japanese nippy skiving machine and this tysew skiving machine. Would you kindly share some of your opinion between these 2 brands?
Ok Harry, you have had this machine a few years now. How have you found it with accuracy, parts wear etc.? I ask as I am torn between a Fortuna SM50 or the cheap Chinese ty801/sk111. I was always brought up with : buy once/cry once, so always buy the best especially as this is my business.
I am still very happy with my Tysew skiver, and I consider it a great buy. I am sure the Fortuna is very nice, I have heard good things about them. If I had years to live, lots of space and a big budget, I would also look into a top feed, I.e. dual feed machine as that could be interesting as well?

Great video I’m considering getting one,I would love to see you doing a belt.i do a lot of belts usually not over 11/2” wide and just the last 3”or 4” for the buckle turn which I would like to do a more even uniform skive for a more professional look.How wide of a skive will this machine do.? thanks for your videos,I’ve watched them all even your other hobbies you do.Your lucky I live in the states and not near you because I would be begging you to let me watch you do what you do ...lol thanks
I have been looking at one of these myself, but was put off when I watched another 'You Tube' video that said they were design for very thin soft leather, and not suitable for anything over about 6oz, what is your opinion please, I tend to use up to 10oz.
The addition of top feed would be good. I think it really depends on the type of leather you are putting through it, and how much. For waxy veg tan I suspect having a dual feed would be good, probablynot needed so much with veg tan. I think they cost quite a bit more, and I don't use mine enough to justify the capital expense.
Hi, i have a question. How do you maintain your machine? I have a bell skiver and i have a problem with the machine, it run very slow and has a weird sound from the machine/motor. Any suggestions how to fix it? Thank you
Hi Ramdan...you can usually adjust the speed by moving the belt to another pulley ...you will usually find the pulleys under a metal cover. Also check all pulleys are tight on their axles and not slipping and making a noise. Regards Harry
I have a problem, the grinder is sharpening the blade but in the wrong place. It does so far inside, and not on the edge where it is supposed to do it. I Try to move the blade to the right, so that the grinder can do it at a better angle. But that is not enough yet. I want to know what I can do, if there is a way to move the grinder so that it can sharpen in the right place. Please if someone can help me 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@harryrogers is new! I used for just a month. And at first it works perfect, and I think uta because the knife was sharpen. But now that is no longer sharp, is not working at all.
@@JoseFernandez-wr5ob I am not sure...online is the Artisan NP4 parts book that has a good exploded diagramatic view of the grindstone assembly. Sounds like you need to either get the bell knife shifted some more or move the grindstone so perhaps loom at the parts diagram and see what can be adjusted...sorry not to help more.
