I am very confused by their API. Can I not use it as a normal user? Do I have to pay for pro or something? I have worked with so many API's and this is soooo convoluted. I have a dashboard I made, and I just want to automate connecting data sources. why is this so difficult?

Hi thanks for the context. but I could not able to enable it. Could you please provide some context related to what all other software needed and procedure. my requirement is: The task involves automating the process of assigning new users to their appropriate groups upon joining and removing users who have resigned from the company. Additionally, the system should send notifications to users who are not using Looker, prompting them to either engage with the platform or have their access removed via the Looker API Instance. The ultimate goal is to establish an ongoing system where the Looker API Instance automatically manages user additions and deletions.

Hi Team Spectacles.. I have one question like is it possible to fetch the all Table Name , Column Name with Data Type which used in looker dashboard So I just want to ask suppose I have dashboard named ABC and I want to find the table name , column name with data type from ABC Dashboard how can I fetch that details. I request you please elaborate on that.

The System Activity > History Explore exposes the SQL query string as well as the dashboard ID/name, so you could theoretically use that to parse out the tables and columns being used. Otherwise you would need to work backwards from the various Explores used in the dashboard, which would be harder.

@@techknowledgehub6950 Those are the System Activity dashboards. You will need the System Activity explores: cloud.google.com/looker/docs/usage-reports-with-system-activity-explores#history

do you need to have a Developer User/$125 per user per month to use sdk with looker?

Can we download all of the dashboard data through an API call?

You can, but not in a single API call. You'll need to get the dashboard elements (the response contains the query), then run those queries, applying any filters, with the Run Query endpoint. Alternatively, if you have a schedule set up already, you can use the Run Scheduled Plan Once endpoint to send your schedule on demand. It's a bit easier for Looks, there's a Run Look endpoint you can use directly.
